Track Prices from Suppliers in Google Sheets!

I have developed a function for automatically tracking prices in Google sheets. It works with certain websites and also other random sites as well. You can install it to any of your Google sheets allowing you to grab prices from these supplier sites (online stores). This is going to be very helpful to all sellers mainly in the arbitrage sphere. If you are doing manual dropshipping and need help tracking prices from suppliers this will be part of your solution.

Hi, This should be possible. Right now I'm working on bringing price data from more suppliers into Google Sheets. But it will require the use of API which is not a free solution but will be necessary for getting more suppliers who are blocked from Google Sheets. So this could be the foundation for what you're talking about.

Would importxml not do this same thing? Or maybe something like xpath?

Good question. ImportXML is the Google Sheets command that allows you to do xpath queries. And yes in fact that is the only way I know to extract price data from Amazon listings (without API). However, importxml queries get potentially complex and pulling data from the site with URLFetch app is faster as importxml can be slow at times (from my experience). The getprice function reads results from the URLFetch app and extracts the needed data instantly. This is much faster and flexible for immediate use in a lot of different google sheets. But if the site such as "Amazon.com" or "Walmart.com" do no let you connect from Google Sheets then you may try importXML.

Hello, thanks for trying it. Email me at mrmark@markteachtools.net. It's the best way. But make sure these are the ".com" sites. I only say this because some people are trying other top-level domains outside the U.S. like ".ca" which it isn't programmed for. But which sites?

Thank you for this. It's awesome!! Just wondering once you getprice, if it's possible to automatically store the current value of the price in a cell so for example the next day when it gets the price you can compare if the prices have changed? Sorry I'm new to sheets.

Hello, thank you for that. Well yes, it is entirely possible using coding on apps script. You would write a short script to copy the cell with the price and paste it to another cell in another column. The next day you would see the one that was copied yesterday plus today's new price. This way you would know if it changed and how much. So its not actually a basic thing for someone new to sheets but it is actually simple for a coder. But generally we don't need to do this because we're mostly concerned with the update on the price right now as it affects other things today. But this is something that might be needed in some situations. Make sure you see my "getdata" function as well. And just follow me in general. Thanks.

This looks like what I am looking for. I am a construction contractor. I have google sheet templates set up to calculate for sheds, decks, and fences. I would like to be able to update material prices from Home Depot and Lowes on a regular basis to manage my products prices. Are either of these accessible by your function? If not could we discuss how we might work something out for that?

Hey, sorry for the late reply. So it does generally work for home depot but I need to check lowes. For famous stores like that I generally will update those as part of the main function. But for more obscure websites I will sometimes work out something of a customized function for individuals. My best email these days is mrmark@markteachtools.net. Some URLs I pull from show as a whole number; ($439.99 will show as 43999 on Sheets) any way to fix this?

Is this the getprice function? I have replaced it with "getdata" but there is some possibility could happen and I would have to write code into the function to handle this particular case with those suppliers. You can always email me and tell me which suppliers do this. But also I suggest starting to use "getdata" which has more potential for extracting different types of data.

You can only use the "getprice" function. You cannot modify it. Getting it to work for any particular website requires specific coding for each website. You would have to know how to code this kind of function yourself from scratch in order to add websites that are not there. Every website is different and so this is why it only works for certain websites. Some also cannot be scanned from within Google sheets as far as I have experienced.

hello I am an Amazon seller, do you think I could go and retrieve my photo history in a Google sheet?

Hello, your photo history from where? But in general there is usually some way to pull things into Google sheets but it is just a matter of how and at what cost. If it requires a paid API service then it will cost money to do it or maybe there's already an add-on that does it, which may also charge for usage credits. Or in some cases with the right code it can be done at no cost. It all depends.

This not working for me it just said error on entertainment earth... I think I missing the script ID bc it didn't save it.. it show it nothing there

Make sure you click save after adding the Library and like he has =getprice(A2), it's because A2 is the row that url & formula is on. If you happen to start on A1 then put A1 instead, each row the A# should be that row#

@@johnbender1364 yes I check it to save the formula n still not working..try it with a few suppliers n I get an error code...I'm sure its something simple. Yes, the script ID shows empty and not was save when I add it and now I don't have the ID.

@@TheContractFlipper Sorry to hear it's still not working for you. I got the error at 1st when I hadn't saved and still when I had the wrong row and it was trying to pull from an empty. Once fixed those they all worked, tried eBay and it worked too, as well as EntertainmentEarth[Not logged in though]. I haven't bought from EE in over a year and can't currently log in. Was hoping maybe that's all it was for you too.

You can always email me directly with the sample link and sheet so I can show you how to use it. It definitely works once everything is done correctly. But just in case send me a link you're trying to get the price for so I can check it. But remember it is =getprice( type that first then click the cell you want to scrape the price from, and press enter.

You can use it on any Google sheet. Because its a function by itself. But it doesn't scan Amazon prices. So on the Amazon matcher system I used importXML to get the Amazon prices or Keepa.

This is something I really wanted to solve but Amazon.com cannot be scanned with Google sheets URLFetchApp which is what I use to scan other sites. Amazon wants you to pay for API service to access their backend data. So there is importXML which seems to work in getting the price but is sometimes too slow. And then you still can't get the FBA fee since this is not on the Amazon listings. So I think that unfortunately there is no free solution for this problem.

Keepa is the only way I know to get so much Amazon data in bulk.
