Former Australian Supercar Champion 'Russell Ingall' and Bathurst winner 'Paul Morris' talk everything motorsport & motoring. This week, the boys test the KIA Stinger to see if it's the real deal and is it Supercars worthy?
I’ve had my GT Stinger for 2 weeks now and love it. Awesome car to drive, looks great with all the tech you need as standard. Personally I don’t want them to sell too many. I love the fact that they’re unique and turn heads.
@@sexyfilothug5410 What junk do you Drive you probably can’t even afford One, I bet you Open the door look inside of your Car, I bet it’s Nasty inside.
You have done a better job than anyone on this review! To the point and showed exactly the capability and fun of the car. Well done boys from a Stinger owner.
Top car except for the yellow. I'm a mechanic and own a late model Kia and they're honestly great reliable cars. People need to get past the badge snobbery
Reasons why my wife's cars in the last 8 years have been Kia/Hyundai/Kia. Maintenance is so cheap and easy, and pretty much nothing breaks. The lack of reliability of my cars more than makes up for it though...
@@the_real_superstickman I always been Holden and over last two decades Ford, but the Hyundai motor co does bloody amazing engineering and their cars which are twenty years old are not rusty, leaking heads, scrap dealer pieces. I even have trouble finding parts coz they are all still running and thus no one can find cheap windscreen or panels!
loved it guys, thanks. Just got my 2022 one in blue, probably wont get to do that stuff in it, but to see the pros loving it is almost enough. no ones passing me on the on-ramp though !
I've driven just about every Stinger for my blog and agree with everything you guys say about them. I think it's a rather awesome road car, Kia said they wanted to make a GT car and think they pretty much hit the nail on the head. They comfortable to ride in, have an awesome amount of kit and go like the stink when you want them too.
Great show boys. No question the Stinger is a good drive. The issue I see is the HSV aspirants have moved up a level and now view the C63 and other Euro performance as the next move. BTW, the plover seemed a happy camper on the grass...
Great review guys. I replaced my VE SV6 with the Stinger GT and it's a great car. Even the wife loves driving it. Totally agree, would love to see the Kia Stinger as a race car. Will definitely boost sales. Shame you didn't get one with the Bimodal exhaust.
More car reviews please guys! As a car enthusiast I am over all the bias, bullshit reviews by Motor and Wheels magazine! Russell, always been a huge fan mate! Awesome to see you on screen again!👍🏻
I'm a Holden man, but always had an eye on this thing, most reviews don't give it that great of a review. Thanks guys I might just take a real good look at this car in the near future if its still on the market when I upgrade. Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday! You two Bathurst 6hr in a Stinger!
I've recently traded in my FG xr6T for the stinger and I love it. It's got so much value for the $$. Little bit tighter in the cabin than the falcon. I stand at 6'2" and I'm probably a touch to tall for it. My hair/head skims the roof with the seat at lowest. Perfect for anyone under 6 foot though. Definitely loving it. This video makes me want to take it out on a track too!
Great review of the stinger, Right about the car testers though, only car testers I watch are Chris Harris and Tiff Needel. Keep up the good work guys 👍
Mint episode dude's. I have a couple questions for you. Do you think supercars needs a complete rules rest ? and car wise Standard chassis across the board ? no matter which team builds it . Control suspension with only a certain amount of adjustment? Less aero? go back to the amount of downforce they had before going cotf? Supercars Bite the bullet (and the cost since they cocked it up) send one of each car to a proper windtunnel?Rather than process they currently have which every other top series would laugh at? Cheers
Was looking at buying one but i went for a manual F6 falcon, I will buy one in the future though all i hear is great things about them and when there is more aftermarket go fast bits for them available
Been a Ford man all my life and have my XR8 Sprint sitting in the garage and i was in need of a daily driver, so i went to have a look at the stinger. I ended up buying a VF2 SSV Motorsport Edition for my daily, the Kia was good and all but i felt more comfortable in the SSV and it's my first Holden I've ever owned and would buy one again if they where making them.
Great honest review on a great car. Well done Rusty and Paul. Lets get the Stinger in V8 supercars. Will definatly give the Mustangs and commodores a run for there money.
Great review. I believe you can get AWD on _any_ any trim level too, for a couple of bucks more. You're soooo right about their marketing. I learned about the Stinger and i30n from a mate, long before I'd seen anything from the manufacturers... in fact, I've still not seen anything from the manufacturers.
AWD not possible in right hand drive layout was the answer I was given, hence not available in Australia. USA & Europe enjoy their choice of drivetrain
I agree 100% race it KIA. Also one of the major reasons why it don’t sell is marketing and people think KIA is a dirty word in the performance car market. I like them and if I had $60k would seriously get one over a Holden or Ford of that same value.
I don't think the Kelly's want to homogenise another new make. Burned with Nissan and the lack of 'parity' offered them in the 8 or so years. Too little, too late :(
Meatsim009 ..if they do it with the correct arrangement and ownership of the IP for the Supercars version and get other teams to run the Kia so they can sell the body parts etc it would be a win for the Kelly’s...their facilities in Melbourne are very impressive, and it would be a shame for them to become a customer team for Holden or Ford.
These guys take up all the room in the car, where do you put your Beer bottles and snacks! That's why I bought a 22 Challenger Scat Pack, it's got beer holders everywhere, the door panels, the console. A real man needs breathing room.
I'm starting to see quite a few of these on the roads in the UK. I like them and the KIA badge doesn't bother me. In the UK most private car 'sales' are done on leases, so I guess how many they sell comes down to how much the 'monthly's' cost.
Be great if you guys did this same kinda format, but with state race category cars. Excel, Porsche cup cars, group nc historic. Anything. Would be cool me thinks.
Exactly right - cool car but the marketing has been crap from day one. I've had my Stinger for 15 months and love it. Its a pity we don't see more of them on the road.
WOW. Nice car. Why people arent buying it you ask......never heard of it until you tested it. Certainly in my top 3 if I am ever lucky enough to be able to purchase a new car.
"Turbo cars are hard to drift" Wow cmon guys if you want any kind of credibility you cant be saying things like that. Makes you sound like a couple of old guys who have not moved out of the 80s. have a look at any drift competition and you cannot swing a cat without hitting a turbocharged car.
As the Dude said the police are buying them as highway patrol / pursuit cars and as far as I can see power on demand when they need it making it possible to get to priority 1 call outs quicker.
Don't forget that one of the main reasons why the QPS ditched the Mustang and ran with the Stinger was its safety rating, versus the former, besides its performance.
Whilst I loved the segment alot and you are both extremely talented, all it would take is a freak failure on the car when you were holding it through the high speed and an accident where a helmet would be doing alot of good. Perhaps when your doing anything at speed like that chuck one one. Maybe your old race ones for a throwback and just speak through the mics to commentate what your doing.
I only knew about this car 2 weeks before I bought one. Was looking at Mustangs etc and when I took this for a test drive and the dealer dude said floor it out on a open road it blew me away! This car SHOULD be in Supercars racing. They had Volvo's and Mercs racing, so why not this??? No 4 door cars with snot under a hundred grand now.............Get on it!!
The reason no one is buying them is simple, the Stinger doesn't come with a V8. I've yet to see one on the road but I have seen heaps of Mustangs instead and surprisingly a few ZB Commodores as well. I also agree with Paul, the Stinger lacks pedigree which would also affect sales however it becoming a Supercar I feel would not help that cause. Considering how much it would cost to base a V8 Supercar on one and the fact teams have been burnt doing so with other brands (Erebus, Garry Rogers, Kelly Racing) I cannot see a V8 Supercar Stinger on the grid anytime soon.
Dead right, The problem is that 99% of people don’t understand that the car on the track is not even 10% of what you get in the production car. Pretty much just body and that’s it. But try and explain it to most people and you’d be wasting your time.
Hey guys. Great little episode. Looks and drives great but I’m not sure the price point is right. If you had that sore of money to spend you will go mustang every day because of the name mustang. Unfortunately the name Kia doesn’t scream sports car. If the price point was lower they’d sell more cars. There’s a huge market of people who want sports cars but can’t afford them. In time I think the current price point becomes more correct. Look forward to the next show!
If you ever drove a stinger (I own one) you would realize that they have managed the performance level of a MORE expensive car into a lower price! Your reasoning is backwards because you think something is more worthy of the price because it says mustang on it when in reality Stingers eat mustangs for breakfast lunch and dinner. And look good doing it. I'm not biased, I just have the perspective of a person who gets to feel that performance daily. Cheers!
Gotta love the Enforcer and the mad man Morris! Great review guys....o think they look great, need that exhaust opened up a little but you’re both right, once haters get their heads around owning a Kia they are a bloody nice car. Oh and Russ, fuck Skaife! Yeah your fans won’t forget 😁🇦🇺
Hey guys please explain what is the manufacturer understeer great show been subscribed since episode 1 nice to see blokes giving it to the corporate big shots who have no right to put themselves on a pedestal
Manufacturers design suspension geometry for the car to understeer/push/go straight ahead into a corner as a "safety factor." Figuring that most people can control a car better understeering instead of have the back of the car "oversteer" into a bad situation.
Im a Ford man I'd buy a kia how good does it look and got plenty grunt lets face it holden isn't a Holden anymore and ford has gone too so why not their all imports
Problem for it at the 6 hour is classing. I haven't got a copy of the formula but the numbers are not that different from a M140i by the looks which means its A1 and up against the M3. Group 3E needs a lot of love in terms of organisation, and there's too many big egos for us all to get on the same page.
