Trackside France S1, E1 - Trains in Strasbourg area

I spent a week in France train spotting between 09th and 14th June 2024. I used to visit France regularly when I was younger and loved the French railways. I visited France just before Covid and the love came back. Covid and family commitments meant I have managed to start visiting again. This is the first of many trips I have planned. Each trip I will release by seasons with episodes of each day as a video. This is episode 1 of season 1 filmed on the 10th June in Strasbourg area.

Very rare to see any decent footage from the French railway scene Ben, but you have managed to buck the trend with this excellent video mate. Very enjoyable and looking forward to seeing a lot more from you in the coing weeks. Take care mate, Colin.

Thanks Colin. For loco hauled passenger action this day was great. But I was pleased the rest of the day's produced more freight

It was good to see the French are still using Stock and loco in the push and pull format Ben. I did notice you filmed some passenger locos a few times which is not a problem as the countryside looked great, also it was good that you got some freight working but just one container train on this video. So I'm now looking forward to all the other videos from your weeks filming. Cheers Mike.

Thanks Mike. Yes this was mainly a passenger day. I got most of the numbers of the locos between Basel and Strasbourg and moved on to my next location which is better for freight (in my next video).

Good to see some international railways Ben and will look forward to seeing more of your videos in the coming weeks. I watch a lot of webcams from around the world but lineside footage like yours is much better. I must say the motive power on those locals looked a bit overkill. Also of interest was the sheeted loads on the container train, can't say I have seen that before. It looked as though you had some nice weather for your visit.

Thanks Mick. If you enjoyed this then your be pleased to know it goes better. Certainly for those who want to see freight. The motive power (BB22200) class are certainly overkill for those trains but I'm glad to see them as they are one of my favourite locos in all of railways. You will see more in future videos pulling more suitable trains 😁 The weather was generally good while I was there. Not too over hot as well which is good for filming. Not sure about the sheeted loads. Will have to take another look..

Yes a few 20ft swop bodies like gardan sheads with tarpolin covers , not un common in Euro land ( were seen in the UK at the beging of CT operations with other floppy tops and loads of pipes but that was a long time back now ) Would need a bit internet poking about But asumed to carry finished rolls of steel/or other metals . other odd swoop bodies can carry Glass and slabs of marble . the are basic flate open ones that have folderble ends for stacking too.
