Another dive back in time and this time down to Kent fora late
afternoon session at Ashford station. Class 205/207 thumper units
were employed on the Hastings line and class 33's were the mainstay
on local freights although 47's and a 56 put in an appearance.

God those Thumper units weren't half noisy Colin! Great to see them in the NSE and revised NSE liveries! Superb Crompton action was always very fibd of the 33s sadly didnt see many as they were purely a Southern engine, seemed to have a lot of beef about them. Hoping to have spotted a Slim Jim but weren't around that particular afternoon in April. Good to see tge 56's and delighted 049 passed by, that's the very engine ive just come by, the new Cavelex 56, 56049 in Colas livery, its exquisite! The sound of them DEMUs were bloody great Colin, in them days it was worth going to Ashford but I wouldn't bother now, cheers for sharing your early footage Mike.

Great one ! day of the 33's agine some good captures of frights the TML tunnel segments train at the end with 2x 33s and the ex train ferry speed link with " Inter fargo " cool van's very significant being filmed in April as these van's only came into UK a few times a year to collect seed potatoes from scotland ! ( spooky link ! ) cant rember were they loaded up . the thumpers and all that NWSE is sadly mssed I think we fall asleep at ashford now adays LOL is so dull

Agree with you wholeheartedly Tom, class 33's another loco sadlly missed, and not just on the Southern Region either. Interesting fact about the seed potatoes mate, i didn't know that. Thanks for watching Tom and have a great week, Colin.

Superb vid Colin. 56049 looked and sounded great. Still going strong today. Those thumpers were something else. I used to think it was a tractor coming along too 🤣
