If we wanted a jacuzzi when we young, we had to fart in the tub. Such an underrated quote. 🤣🤣

Same. I love this film. The last third of the film is so-so (the train and the financial market scenes), but the whole buildup in the first 2/3 with the Dukes' bet and the gradual switching of places is pure genius. Every actor is perfectly cast.

Ohh Boy.. Movies were 'FANTASTIC' in those days. Now-a-days it's all Superhero films. Everyone's getting offended over Nothing! Dan Akroyd's Jamaican Lionel character could never be done today.. Black people won't get offended, But Some white snowflake somewhere would push the ''Offended'' button in a heartbeat. The Duke's conversation about Eddie Murphy's Race' could never be spoken on film Ever. Nothing will ever compare to this Comedy Ever Ever. If you lived the 80's & 90's generation, You really Did live the 80's. The world has been suppressed into nothingness.

The send-off of African personality types was beyond hilarious. Eddie's African chant on the train was almost as funny as his later impersonations of James Brown.

That cop at 0:18 played a bigoted store employee in Boomerang (1992). He was bothering Eddie, Martin, and David Allen Grier while they were shopping in a high end men's clothing store.

Only a late 1980's---1999 baby, NOT from Black American culture.....refers to "Breaking Bad" as if it's Giancarlo's "first" role. Giancarlo's break-out role was Spike Lee's "School DAZE (1988)"....followed by "Do the Right Thing (1989)". I watched "Trading Places" , excessively.... in 1984/85 (on VHS). Then "School Daze" at the beginning of 1989 (VHS)....then "Do the Right Thing" in the theaters in New York City.
@SilverTongueOne
@SilverTongueOne Год назад
Oh wow I never realised Do the right thing was in theatres in net york city. We didn't have access to cinemas in London or access to hip hop etc.. I'm being sarcastic by the way.. I'm well aware of his previous work and the classic line “you stepped on my jordans” in the movie. I simply said those roles because they were main stream and recent. Do the right thing was a huge movie to anyone into hip hop around the world back then along with, Juice, warriors, above the rim, menace to society and earlier Beat Street and wild style and many others. Just enjoy the clip and reminisce. Your comment is ignorant to say the least
@domarq
@domarq Год назад
@@SilverTongueOne It's not ignorant. It's being protective of a culture that's been constantly exploited. As you referenced, you and others received the exports of Black American culture and icons (not simply Hip-Hop. "School Daze"---which included Laurence Fishburne and his nemesis Giancarlo Esposito---wasn't "hip-hop"). So, I make no apologies for being defensive....as I was there at ground zero. I WILL apologize for my assumption.
@SilverTongueOne
@SilverTongueOne Год назад
@@domarq I understand being protective but black people are all over the world and black American culture is a piece of it. African, south America, west indies all play important parts and add equally so let's not try and gate keep it.. Because plenty of black Americans come to London and learn fashion etc. Kanye west influenced rappers in the states to go from wearing xxxxl clothes in early 2000s to slim fit street wear, because he was influenced by London black street culture. Right now some of the biggest rappers are from London Yankees are here all the time as well as drake loving our culture
