Our Simple Life in Saint Lucia, West Indies | Village Lifestyle | Breadfruit is in Season
Hi beautiful viewer! Today’s vlog documents a weekday in our Saint Lucian village of La Pointe, Mon Repos. Come spend part of the day with myself and grandparents as we go about completing various tasks around the house. The purpose of these vlogs are to share with anyone in the world how we live. It is simply fun to take advantage of this type of technology where we can share parts of our lives with others while captioning memories with family and friends.
Although this video was published on 'Creole Day' on the island, these clips were recorded prior. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for showing covering the breadfruit with turmeric leaves.ln St. Lucia we also used banana ,macambu or lobster claw (barlizye) leaves. The English name for tesor for those outside St.Lucia is coalpot. Our browning is made from brown cane sugar and the dark browning has not harmed our ancestors/grandparents. Love your blog my girl.love the setting 🎉❤😊😊😊😊😊

Wow! Hi Ms. Merle. I love reading about your memory of your Dad cooking. The flour bag method is new to me. After your Dad covered the breadfruit with leaves or flour bag, did he then cover it with a pan cover? I noticed my grandparents put on the pan cover even after using the leaves...maybe just to hold it down or prevent dust from flying into the food...I am not sure.

@@KurrdeigeLenora many people use it to make a pancake if it's soft, so put your own skills to work. Don't depend on grand dad, he expects yo to use you own knowledge and come up with your own ideas. Add some garlic, onions, thyme, turmeric, cloves, pepper, a tea sp of baking powder and you have a beautiful pancake from a soft breadfruit, that some people throw to the pigs

@@KurrdeigeLenora sorry I learn this from jamaicans who when the breadfruit is soft which we consider not good they use it too make pancakes. I tried it and it's beautiful. Like the red blossom from the end of the bananas I found out it was edible. And we threw them away all the time

@@pastryshack551hello 👋🏾 when breadfruit is “ripe” (kind of sweet and a bit soft), we boil it and pair it with meat or anything we want just like we would an “unripe” one. But in this video, the breadfruit Daddy tossed aside was spoilt so it’s no good to use for anything (at least from our 🇱🇨 perspective). But it’s so good to learn how others prepare their breadfruit. Your example showed how different islands have developed innovative ways to enjoy this one produce. 🫶🏾🙌🏾
