Cities Skylines Industries:
In one of the most in-depth expansions in Cities: Skylines history, Industry becomes a larger and more meaningful part of the game with this expansion. Players can customize their industrial areas with supply chains for the four different resource types and unique factories. Well managed industry areas will level up and become more efficient. Aside from production chains, there is a new city service for handling mail and the cargo airport eases import and export of factory goods. There are FIVE new maps, new policies, new city services, new buildings (including resource extractors, manufacturers, warehouses and unique factories) and more.

Follow your products from harvesting to processing, storage and production, then transport them to commercial zones or export to other cities.
- CAPTAIN YOUR OWN INDUSTRIES
Define an area with the industry area tool and place highly specialized industrial buildings to build and manage the production chain from raw material extraction up to final end product. Industry Areas are divided into four types based on the natural resource they are processing: Farming, Forest, Ore and Oil. These areas can level up upon reaching productions goals and staffing requirements.

5:32 Biffa you finally realized that everyone needs to get on the highway just to go to work or shop. But it took until 11:13 to say "you need some roads going straight across" the highway. It was obvious from the zoning plan at minute 1. Could have put those roads in before the roundabouts went in!

i bought cities quite awhile ago but never really played it much but this channel has definitely inspired me to get back in and actually try it. i've spent so much time following your advice and tweaking traffic. it's not perfect but i love my city. although i could probably use more advice on how to best use busses and (passenger) trains, i find those slightly overwhelming and confusing lol.

If there's one thing I've learned from these videos, the huge roads are unnecessary. Even roundabouts can be skipped if you use proper junction management. The thing you see consistently in all these videos is that these major traffic arteries with junctions every five feet. It isn't the width of the roads that matters, its left and right hand turns that are going to cause problems coupled with intermingling of different traffic types. Separate out your industrial, commercial and residential traffic, and keep your major arteries unimpeded and you can get away with small roads.

IMO, those kinds of industrial Squares should be built with One-Way Roads as a Roundabouts and maybe you can delete those traffic lights if you make some lane Management.

At 9:35 ... on the one hand, those open ends might "take away options people need", as you mention. But they might also open up pathological conditions, like the 3-divided-to-6-with-median transitions that allow U-turns, that narcissists think they need, but don't.

Biffa here is a proper challenge for you: Build a city where you cannot upgrade or destroy any roads. You can only add roads. (MoveIt mod copy paste on the roads is a no no. Roundabout Builder I leave it at your criteria but if you don't, you can't use the dirt road as guidelines or bracers like you normally do) Have fun :D

0:33 this normally happens on the junction between M11 and M25 in England. So yeah, every bloody time I am getting stuck there when I go home from London to Cambridge. People who drive there, they'll know.

Im using a giant 6 lane ovalabout right now which is connected at 1 end to the highway and 30k residents who use that ovalabout to get to work and get back home. It is very satisfying to see all 6 lanes full of people driving efficiently. I once had a 12 lane roundabout just cause as a 4 way highway interchange that was pretty full you had to take a few turns before you hit your exit but it ran smooth and was very fun to watch.

You make me wanna buy a game, build my city so i get a huge mess of traffic, then go back through and improve the traffic. I don't think it would be as satisfying if the city already came with near-perfect road control.

Dear Biffa, the airport issue is a little complex, but relatively easy to solve: The issue: When planes take off, the will depart to the left and circle up. They have to maintain a certain distance to other planes in the air. When planes are on approach, they fly a relatively high 'downwind' (they are coming from the direction the runway is pointing and fly in the opposite direction. Then they turn around and fly a straight final approach. Because the two airports face in two different directions, are close together AND are horizontally spread out, the planes downwinds and departures are getting in each others way. Solution: The airports need more space in between. What could also work, but I am not sure!: Line up the airports with the runway facing in the same direction and with two or three big-road widths in between the runways and one runway should be further ahead of the other runway, e.g. a half runway length. Important: both runways have to point in the same direction. Hope I could help. If not, apologeze. I love your videos Biffa, please keep it up! You do an amazing job!

The reason the air traffic is acting that way is because there is two airports so close together. If you switch one off the the planes will start working correctly. The only thing I can figure is they get confused on where to land so they just keep in the holding pattern.

13:27 - that option stops joining traffic from cutting across all the lanes. It means you don't need the lane connectors like you did at (e.g. 10:04) The downside is that it disables the lane arrows controls, but you can still override it with the lane connector. Overall having the option _on_ tends to result in less work than having it off. However: If you have super close junctions it can prevent certain routes, and if you use motorway roads on roundabouts that can be very bad (I don't use the motorway roads on roundabouts for this very reason)

13:27 - Highway rules don't completely stop you from customizing lanes; you just have to use the lane connector instead of the arrow tool. Among other things, enabling highway rules makes the stuff you did at 8:34 redundant because vehicles now behave that way by default. The only wrinkle is that enabling or disabling highway rules only affects newly spawned vehicles, which might explain why--as you've mentioned before--it sometimes doesn't seem to work: just give it a few minutes!

With highway rules on you don't need to do turn restrictions, as long as the lane mathematics check out Traffic Manager will correctly set up acceleration and deceleration lanes and have them properly used without having to set up lane connections.

Nice fix and great commentary as well. I've seen cities that had that happen including my own with no traffic issues with planes bunched up and just circling the airport and not Landing at all. Probably a glitch the game has from time to time. Sometimes the glitches in the game can be annoying but most of the time I find it hilarious. I can't wait to upgrade my Xbox one to an Xbox one x tomorrow and yes they have enhanced cities skylines for the Xbox one x. 4k, 60 fps I believe is what it's enhanced too. Next generation consoles isn't that far off but still far enough that I don't want to wait. Patience isn't exactly my strong suit. Lol 😂

2:03 that button isn't a "straight through without stopping", that button is to allow queuing across the intersection which blocking the perpendicular traffic from crossing to the other side.
