I think the scariest part about livestock dying is trying to figure out what went wrong. Hopefully it was just something odd with this one rather than something worse! Sorry for your loss!

Thank you, scary too worrying that the others could "get" it too.

The most upset part of losing animals that way to me is not knowing what killed them

Many of us have been where you are. Hang in there and don’t let it keep you from trying again and trying new things. Where there is life on a farm, there is also death on the farm. Tough days, but keep on keeping on.

So sorry! Things always seem to happen at the worst time. Maybe it was sick and it was better that it passed before you spent lots more money on feed. It will work out just wait and see. Hang in there👍❤️

Please, don’t beat yourself up. 🥰 Sometimes even if you know the cause, you can still lose animals. It’s never easy. We can only do our best, and you did.

Of stuff that's preventable, selenium is a big one that often doesn't get noticed.

Usually presents as confusion, lethargy, lack of CO ordination, but the time symptoms present it's typically too late to do much about Usually happens to the young, old, old or stressed, or during pregnancy or immediately after. All you can really do is make sure you have the proper choice mineral available.

Sorry you lost the piglet. It always is hard when this happens, even to us old timers. We just lost 1.5 old steer due to a tree falling on him and breaking his neck.

Sucks to hear. Sometimes we win, sometimes we learn. Hope you can figure it out and protect the other pigs. I'm sure you will.

So sorry to hear this! Had a pet rabbit die yesterday, my daughter found it and she was devastated. I guess it is a mix of putting her on the ground and getting new rabbits. She was fine 4 hours prior. All the same things were running through my head. It sucks but it's just a part of farm life, and I think it helps a disconnected generation/children connect back with the real world.

Thank you, I had problems with my rabbits last year. They kept dying on me. I always heard rabbits will just drop dead out of nowhere. Apparently pigs do too. Thanks again!

You know that's part of farming. Keep your head up.

Obviously can't tell you for sure but I would say fairly confidently it was twisted gut, if I went down hill in the course of a day or so. Pretty common in feeder pigs.

Never heard of it, anything I could have done?

@@TheAbleFarmer usually happens when they get to a new food source, like hay to wet grass, and gorge themselves and overeat, especially if they are getting dirt clumps with the grass. Or really any drastic change in diet that's just an example. Can cause a twist and cut off blood flow.

@@oldgasengines last night it didn't want to stand. When it did it was wobbly. It squealed some when I messed with it. It did manage to stagger back into its box. Legs seemed weak. The video I posted previously showed it playing with the other pig. That was only a few days ago. It had full access to grass and dirt.

@@TheAbleFarmer Google hemorrhagic bowel syndrome also. In the summer its best to feed pigs throughout the day, instead of one big feeding. Sorry it happened, owning animals is always full of surprises.
