Oichi was the younger sister of Oda Nobunaga and the wife of the Azai clan's leader, Asai Nagamasa. After the Asai clan's defeat by Nobunaga, she was taken captive and later remarried to Shibata Katsuie. She was known for her beauty and intelligence, and her tragic story has been the subject of numerous works of literature and art.

I was so excited when I saw the thumbnail and title of the video. Japanese history is rich with fascinating figures. Lady Oichi had her share of sad moments in life but no one can say that her life wasn't extraordinary. Her daughters grew up to be some of the most important figures in Japanese history. Thank you so much for making this video. I consider it my good fortune to be able to learn about Japanese history from your channel.

I thought so, too. He must have been special to her. Also, maybe she no longer feared for the wellbeing of her daughters because she knew her birth clan would take good care of them.

Apart of me always thought she didn't too live was because she didn't want too be a personal kept trophy of hideyoshi bc he would have made her his concubine too someday so she choose death gave her daughters too safety and I'm sure she would have been pissed too find out what he did with her daughters.
