Zion Ultra Marathon 100 miles documentary - an incredibly challenging Trail Running Race with the most gorgeous landscape near Zion. One of my favorite Trail Running Races, I'm back for a 3rd time at Zion Ultras 2023.

This is my ultra marathon race before things get serious with Badwater, 135 Leadville 100, Ouray 100, Angeles Crest 100, and many more 100 miles ultra running. This challenging course in Southern Utah with big climbs in the heat is amazing. My secret weapon? Nora will be pacing me for over 20 miles (thank you!)!!!!

I had a wonderful time. The Flying Monkey was certainly an adrenaline rush and the Mondo Z climb at mile 75 put my body and soul to the test, but it was such a beautiful course and like you, I just felt so grateful the entire time to be able to have an experience like that and to have my best friends there with me to support me. Those views gave me such sustenance along the way even when it got hard and it did get hard, but we made it through! Yeah. Were you happy to have brought trekking poles? I've never used them but did think they'd be immensely helpful up that Mondo Z towards the end. Best of luck with your upcoming race calendar. Happy Trails. Erin

@@erinquinn2010 It's a tricky course to decide for poles because 99% of it you don't need them. It was a "5 min before the race" kind of decision, but I was glad to have my pole for flying monkey and Mondo Z. Good luck on your other races this year! Might see you at The Bear this fall :)

Pretty well, you must have been right behind us, only like 12 mins. Definitely a fun race, especially with the cheater bridge to avoid the muddy river crossing :)

Hi Simon. Great video. I was the one you got lost with who then said, "are you from RU-vid?" As I told you on the course, your video of Zion last year was so helpful for me to get some sense of what it would be like. You never truly understand it until you're there, but the videos you make are immensely helpful to us newbies on the course. Thank you so much for this content and for being such a positive force on the trails. Hope to see you at another race. But maybe not get lost :)

Loved the video, congrats on another 100 miles!! I can only imagine what Nora said when she saw the drone footage of you running along the cliff edge in the beginning! 😆 My favorite part of ultras is the atmosphere and meeting/ chatting the miles away with cool new people. This race looks amazing for that, and for all the aid station puppies!!

I went back to this video cause I thought you said something early in the video you said someday you wanted to run Bryce as long as you are well rested or right after 250 mile race they’re amazing taking a friend on his first hundred mile this year I went down one other one tried to talk him into doing 100 K first but he doesn’t want to so we’re not getting it out

Got your own start! Epic ;-) Such a beautiful and diverse area. Love the landscapes! Makes me want to run it! When I trail run, I find that I often experience 3 feelings: Gratitude (which you expressed), peace, and content (not to be confused with complacency). I enjoyed tagging along with you vicariously. I had wanted to see what that Virgin Dam area looked like. It was miles 70-90 my year and I figured it probably looked cool in the day time.

I don't wear lens. I have glasses but that's really only for driving (and interviews...to look smart), so I don't bring them on races. Not sure how people do it with contact lens - might be worth asking those folks doing 200s?

I don't know in terms of numbers - but basically - it can get real toasty during the day segment going down in the desert and then climbing Smith Mesa. That's probably one of the main reason that eventually lead to DNF. Then at night, it's pretty chilly - I feel 2021 was much colder. But with enough layers, it's fine. Morning start you don't really need to dress much, but after racing all day in the desert, you'll want additional layers
