They have confirmed that she spends a portion of the film on a Kree planet, and you do get a quick glimpse of some Skrulls on a beach. You can also see Fury sitting next to a body on an examining table that is most likely a Skrull, and he's holding a cloth to his eye, so we'll probably see him in an eyepatch by the end of the film.
I think you're alluding to 'Secret Wars'. :) I nice well balanced review, which is refreshing after so much hate aimed at this trailer from certain quarters.
