My Basic 12v solar battery charger for my winch system on my equipment/car trailer. Check out my range of official F-TECH gear & services at: f-tech.com.au/ Check out some outdoor gear I use on my Amazon store here: www.amazon.com...
Really cool idea, I think I'm going to build something like this battery lock box for my trailer. Just put a winch on it and don't want to keep lugging a battery on and off the trailer.
Planning on doing something similar to my small utility trailer soon. I work on golf carts and a winch would make it easier to load broken ones. Here is the setup in my head: Tractor supply tool box mounted to trailer tongue, 2,500lb Badlands winch mounted inside center of tool box with wire going through the back, 20watt solar panel on top, 10 amp solar charge controller inside top, and an Optima RedTop 34 AGM battery (800cca / 50Ah) to power it. A few questions though: 1. the 1 battery should be enough to power this small winch right? 2. Does the solar charge controller stop the panel from charging the batteries once they are fully charged? I assume yes but if not, wouldn't the batteries overheat and cause issues?
Unfortunately I can’t find that little one I had bought of eBay but there’s a bunch of unbranded ones on there. Just search “wireless 12v remote” in eBay.
You aren't showing us how you got everything wired. I call this half as* video. Only thing I like is the professional look of job that you can't really see but you can get a glimpse of job neatness.
I have a GReddy baffle on my GR. I take it to the track a lot and drive it hard. I installed mine when cleaning the pick up tube and installing headers after the 15th or so track day. I saw another video showing that baffles do a little bit but not a ton. I may get an accusump down the line but 20+ track days with no issues so far
Hey there mate, rate this setup, good job 👍 I’m looking at doing similar on a mates trailer. So you have Solar charger, do you also have a DCDC charger or something like that in the box to charge the winch battery while your driving, off the car alternator?
Mate I want to do the same in a small enclosed trailer with a small 3000lbs winch just for loading 200kg concrete grinder on my trailer. I went yo the shop to get the stuff and they told me “no chance of charging your battery with a solar panel and a controller. They reckon the winch draws heaps pf amps and i cant even try to keep up. They tried to sell me a battery charger for 700. Of course i didnt buy it. How true is that?
If you run x2 car battery’s like me “cranking batteries” you should be fine. Run like a 200w solar panel on your roof with a solar controller hooked up 24/7. I can’t see you having any issues unless your going to use it 5-10 times a day you might be running low on power. Then you might need to run a cable to alternator off the vehicle.
@@TyFenwick Thanks for that mate. I was thinking on getting a lithium battery cause they say you can use 100% of amperage and in AGM lead acid you can only drop 50% of the power otherwise you screw the battery. But lithium are really expensive too, so Im kinda lost now. I dont want to run a wire from the alternator thats why I wanted a setup like yours. The winch is going to be used 2 times a day probably, maybe 4 but not idealy. You reckon I can't sort it with just one cranking battery mate, thanks for the advice!!
Nice Job. Clean install. I am glad to see someone using a solar controller with their batteries. I see a lot on here that seem to think they don't need one. But it is really a safety issue and protects both batteries and solar panel. Nice trailer, I like the lights. Best wishes, Larry
