"A more spectacular trail does not exist anywhere in the world." When I'm asked about South Kaibab Trail, that's pretty much what I say.
In this in-depth Trails of the Grand Canyon guide, see for yourself what all the fuss is about, and why if you're going to take on one trail in the Grand Canyon, the stunning South Kaibab is the one.

Great video! I'm 66, my first hike in the Grand Canyon I went rim2rim, down the South Kaibab and up the North Kaibab. This was 2.5 months ago. The last 5miles were very tough, but I'm so glad I gave it a go :).

Go for it! I did it in November; super hard but obviously doable. I did a two-part podcast of the whole experience; you can find it at The Grand Canyon Hiker Dude Show wherever you get podcasts if you’re interested. Let me know if I can help in any way. 👊😊

I really enjoyed this video. Your idea about taking a taxi was really good. I am planning on going to Skeleton Point and back in April, your idea about going three more switchbacks to a fantastic view was a good one and I will definitely consider doing that. It was a shame that it was overcast when you were at that viewpoint because the colours were muted.

After all the videos on the hikes in Grand canyon, this hike definitely looks the best. I'm planning to go hike down to PR then up Bright Angel. Hopefully by the end of the month.

Awesome! It is incredible. If you don't know, Bright Angel is closed until 4/15/24 for the waterline project, so down and up SK is the only option until then.

Thanks for the amazing guide!! Can’t wait to be hiking out there! You didn’t encounter any mountain lions coyotes rattlesnakes or any danger while hiking the canyon in general?
@GrandCanyonHikerDude
@GrandCanyonHikerDude 7 месяцев назад
Thank you! I’ve encountered one rattler on Tonto, but it wanted less to do with me than I did it. You do hear about mountain lions from time to time, but more in the remote areas rather than the main trails. The corridor trails are generally safe; they are heavily traveled and you’re rarely alone for long. It’s just the coolest place imaginable to hike. Hope you get there soon!

Cool video. How much water is recommend to hike up South Kaibab?
@GrandCanyonHikerDude
@GrandCanyonHikerDude 3 месяца назад
I would say two liters in the cooler months, and I personally stay off SK in the warmer months (unless I'm hiking out in the dark) because it's too dangerous with the exposure and no water availability. Bright Angel offers those safety nets that SK doesn't.

@@GrandCanyonHikerDudethanks for the info. My understanding is only SK is available right now.

Can't you just walk the 4 miles from the bright angel trail head to the south Kaibab trail head?
