Maybe it’s not ‘doing something on the gauge”. Instead, it would be more exact if you say replacing wheels. The standard process is to hoist the whole car out of its original wheels, and push away these wheels, and then push in new ones on wide gauge(1524mm). Finally the hoister put down the car. Anyway it’s an amazing video! Thanks for sharing your precious and unforgettable experience! I am a Shanghainese who has travelled in Mongolian by train three times.

We went in 2018 so prices have probably changed since then. It's cheaper to fly, but this is more fun and you see the remote areas that are hard to get to

+April and Tim Travel damn that's expensive. But Australia is fore sure one of the most expensive countries so it's probably OK for you.

Яков Финкельштейн It's very frustrating how expensive things are in Australia 😣 We would have preferred to buy them while in China (we're sure it would have been cheaper), but we needed proof we were exiting China in order to get our visa. So we feel like we had no choice. Oh well, you do what you have to do!
