Hey Magnus I’ve got a video suggestion for you: maybe you could replicate and try some comp boulders from the mid 2010s and compare them with some recent ones. Also if you’re ever in the UK a collab with Louis Parkinson would be awesome!

I used to do sessions of 3~6 hours for 3-5 times a week in the past. I always tired myself out completely. When I couldn't send at my normal level I would just climb lower grades till either my skin or muscles gave up. I always had finger injuries, never could really send at my limit and felt tired constantly. Nowadays I climb maybe 2-3x a week for 1-3 hours max (usually 1-2 hours). In that time I just go hard and I've noticed that I'm sending harder than I used to with less effort and no injuries.
@SuspensionTruth
@SuspensionTruth Год назад
I'm late 40s and do the same, largely to prevent further injuries and to maximize strength for harder problems. I also sauna several times a week for recovery / cardio / health benefits. I find after a hard session that I need at least 3 days good rest before I feel fresh (no soreness) which is my gauge of when I can climb again. And kefir rocks!
@fabled.
@fabled. Год назад
Yes! Exactly this. Taking more days to rest actually improves your climbing. I still feel like I'm losing progress but you can't argue with results.

2AM filming a video. I like how you being one of the biggest climbing RU-vidrs, are still putting in work, training at 2 AM AND you're filming. Have you any idea why he trains so late and also when gyms are empty?
@GItoKeG
@GItoKeG Год назад
@@Mithellsc043 Usually because 1, if music is playing you don't have to worry about copyright infringement on RU-vid. 2, it's easier to reshoot without distraction. 3, it's just obviously convenient. Anton does the same thing in the Ninja Warrior gyms.
@samayahone3497
@samayahone3497 Год назад
@@Mithellsc043 I think it's because of the lack of music and people coming up to talk to him. For a proper training session I imagine constantly being badgered by fans could get annoying. Hey Magnus! If you want to get more flexible, hold your stretches for 20+ seconds. If you just do it very briefly, it has little effect. Source: I worked with people with partial paralysis, their muscles and tendons often shrink and tighten up, & part of the mobility rehabilitation deals with redeveloping the range of motion, not just movement itself. Very brief stretches may be recognized by the body as a trauma (you'll notice if you're sore afterwards, shouldn't be), & can even have the opposite effect.
