Ever Seen A Railroad Crossing Like This? Always Flashing & Vertical. Hanson Quarry At End Of Active Track. Rusty Rails Before & After The Train Passes. This Short Line Railroad Is The Cincinnati Eastern Railroad CCET & It Operates On Norfolk Southern Tracks. We see both sides of the train as it passes through the remote countryside of southern Ohio.
First we see the train just east of Seaman, Ohio at the railroad crossing on Tranquility Pike. We see the rails up close and take a look at some muddy cows pooping in the creek. It really stunk.
Then we see the other side of the train as it passes historic Norfolk & Western Railway artefacts in Lawshe, Ohio. There is an awesome farmhouse with a driveway that crosses both tracks.
Next, we go to downtown Peebles, Ohio at Mile Post 72 to watch the train cross Main Street. We take a look at several loaded gondola cars on the McCoy Lumber siding. This is where they load untreated railroad ties into gondola cars that were previously used in railroad maintenance of way. I have videos of the very last Norfolk Southern train that passed through here on April 24, 2014.
The final location is Plum Run, Ohio. This is the location of a huge Hanson quarry that the mainline passes right through. Just before the train got here they used a passing siding just west of Rt32 to run the locomotives around the train. They did that and then shoved the train about a mile to the quarry for loading. This video shows the train reversing across the road. The crossing has vertical red lights that flash all the time. Have you ever seen a crossing like this? If so let me know so that I can film it.
