Packing tape on the corners and baseboards are great for bunny proofing

Our Holland Lop Rabbit is deaf. He has chewed about everything. Carpet, expensive Area Rugs, Books, Television Remotes, corner of walls and the walls, baseboards, underneath furniture and legs plus on other areas of it, and most concerning he has torn or frayed all the power cords, Cables, Internet Cables, Wires, lightning cables, USB-3 & 2 cables and cable sets, charging cords/cables on every piece of equipment, all the cable and wires and *power cords or cables on the television, laptop(s) iPads, router, modem, and behind the computer and destroyed the subwoofer power cable. The power wires/cords on 99% of our lamps. Oh wow, she is a gorgeous woman! I’d like to get silly with. What? Anyway, there’s obviously many fire 🔥 hazards and it’s not fun to be shocked while trying to replace things because I’m an idiot. I’ve maneuvered or rearranged furniture and wrapped tubing around the power plugs, cables and other equipment that have wires. It’s a messy situation. If we had a business here, we would be shut down, it’s against almost every OSHA Policies ten fold. And it gets worse. I’m profoundly sorry for venting - I just had to let it out. You are adorable. Oh boy

Oh my gosh! How is it that I haven’t discovered your channel before. I thought I had watched all of them over the last four years of having my sweet boy Lewie. You have so many great suggestions and I’m looking forward to learning more from your videos. Lewie is 100% free roam and I like to say that he’s in his teenage years lol.

I'm so happy I found your channel. I have learned so much thank you. Our rabbits are ripping and digging our carpet up. I ordered some blankets and mats for them. I saved them from being thrown out side or fed to snakes. I have cats and dogs so I'm hoping after they are all used to one another I can let them free roam the house after they stop eating our carpets though lol. Thank you again ❤️

You're very welcome! Just be careful when introducing them to your cats and dogs. As a dog trainer I can't stress enough how imperative it is that your dogs are well trained and highly responsive to your commands before the introduction. Your bunnies must also not be showing signs of overwhelming stress in their presence. I always advise people to hire a trainer to help with these introductions. You should also never leave them alone in the same room, even once they do get along. I hope this helps. Best of luck 🙂

Thanks for this video , we have a free roaming rabbit he loves to bite our duvets and his mattress which has numerous holes. How doe we stop him. He sometimes is moody and does not want to engage but we notice he responds to treats. He used to play football but now not interested. How do we gain his interest. Thanks again!
@TheBunniesBrigade
@TheBunniesBrigade Год назад
Pepper like to dig at our duvet as well sometimes. She is simply not allowed to jump on the bed on her own. It is likely there are certain times of the day he likes to do it. Understanding their routine is really half the battle. Regards the football playing. Show him the football and click and reward him for touching it. Do that repeatedly. He will start to build interest again.

love your clicker training videos! especially place training, can't wait to use that for the carrier :) I used the clicker for about a week with just giving their normal food and treats, and started clicking/giving pellets for good behavior yesterday. the bunnies (two 3 year olds) have also been mostly in my office until yesterday, when my bunny proofing was done and they got access to the kitchen and living room. one of my buns LOVES digging in the sofa corners and chewing on the fabric, and biting/pulling up the carpet anywhere she can. you mentioned to ignore bad behavior and only reward good behavior - how do I follow this without just letting her ruin the sofa and floor while she's learning? should I not let them into those rooms yet? I tried putting a digging box in the living room and have also been giving out extra things she can chew on but she's still very interested in the destructive behaviors

I have to say... I never (ever ever ever x's infinity) thought I would have a 'pet' rabbit. Especially inside. But I also never thought I'd have kids. Lmmfao Anyhow, I could Google my question but I'm old school and prefer interaction and conversation. So, my question is... Are rabbits at risk of catching Parvo? And/or can they be carriers? (Cats can carry and spread Parvo, but do not get sick). Puppies, well...if they even touch the ground where Parvo has been (even 8 years later) the fall victim).
@TheBunniesBrigade

It is my understanding that parvovirus can affect any mammal, however I have never had any experience with it. There are many diseases and parasites rabbits are susceptible too, the main 2 being Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease (RHDV) and myxomatosis. I highly recommend vaccinating rabbits against RHDV and RHDV-2, unfortunately the myxomatosis vaccine is only available in the UK and Europe.

I do a clicking sound with my mouth to indicate that that is an unwanted behavior and they seem to understand it pretty well. Does that seem ok to you? What I haven’t done consistently is redirect them, which I will definitely start to do. Thank you for sharing your rabbit wisdom, much appreciated.
@bobjob2514

The main concern with audio cues is uniqueness. You choose sounds/words that don’t happen in daily life apart from the intended use. If, say… your washing machine makes a similar clicking noise (bad example, I know) then it’s likely the learner won’t respond as well. Otherwise, it’s in your court.

Thank you so much for your informational videos! I am very close to getting my first rabbit, so they have really helped my research process. I have a question about the Chewy/shipping paper dig box and cat scratchers. Do your bunnies not eat the paper or the cardboard they dig and tear up? Both seem like such easy toys to provide for fun and enrichment, but when I was growing up, we had a Guinea pig who died from ingesting the cardboard from toilet paper and paper towel rolls we gave him as toys. We had other piggies who didn’t eat it, but it makes me nervous to think it could happen to my bunny. Thanks in advance!

My rabbit likes to use any dig box I make as a litter box! Sometimes they can take some time to craft so it's always disappointing when I have to throw it out in a few days. Any suggestions?

My rabbits are new to me but are 5+ years old and they thumped at me when I used the clicker. I know they had trauma from dogs barking at them for the past five years at their previous foster care. So they are very very skittish anyways. How do I get them used to the clicker sound?
@TheBunniesBrigade
@TheBunniesBrigade 9 дней назад
You can muffle the clicker with a towel so it's not so scary. You can also get clickers that are just quieter - this PetSafe clicker actually has a very soft sound: amzn.to/3XMPdNP Alternatively you can just use a word, like "Yes!", if you like. But you have to keep it consistent and say it the same way every single time, just as the clicker produces the same sound every time.

Thank you!! I started clicker training a couple of weeks ago! Im excited to start using your tips for his destructive behavior! I’ve also found that using ivory soap helps protect things I don’t want him to chew on! (He loves chewing on plastic 😬)

I'm glad I found this channel. Your videos are very informative! Quick question: Do you know of healthy treats to give for positive re-enforcement? Our new buns are slightly overweight from their last owners and we're trying to limit their treat intake
@TheBunniesBrigade
@TheBunniesBrigade 2 года назад
Yay! Thank you 🙂. For the most part I just use their regular pellets, and as I tend to do some form of training with them everyday I actually half their portion for mealtime. If weight is a concern you should definitely do this on days you intend to work with your rabbit, or even make the meal your training time!
