ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on RU-vid and decided I could have a go and now here we are!
Thanks for watching my videos and please subscribe if you want to see more in future.

It is always amazing to me how the mums know their babes and vice versa just by smell. Nature is a marvel. And the instincts for survival, the mothers licking them off almost immediately and the lambs just know where to go for food. Thanks for these daily lamb vlogs. You are doing a great job! 😊

Death is a reality for all farmers. I find it very interesting and realistic. I don’t think you would be showing us the real sheep farming without showing the bad and the good. I just love the wee ones with their happy tails.

Reality about farming and where our food comes from is wonderful from you and your team, Cammy. Many people are upset by death. Maybe we've become so removed from seeing death that we no longer know how to deal with it? Plastic packaged chicken died. Cockerels die to allow hens to produce our eggs. If we wear wool or eat meat or have leather shoes, there's death involved. I think it's great that you share reality.

Farmers granddaughter here, so I appreciate that you show the good and the bad. I don't mind that things get a little dark this time of year because I understand that happy pregnancies are the norm and there's nothing to see or do with those. Sorry to hear about all the foot problems this year. Overly wet years are always pains for foot health.

Had some bad luck this year with the ewes that’s the 4th one you lost. Poor things. That’s just how it goes sometimes I guess, just you expect to loose lambs more than fully grown sheep. Honestly though I think it’s probably better not to sugar coat everything, even when you got kids watching, can’t shelter them from the bad stuff always and probably better they see it through a screen first.

Cammy, I think you're doing the right thing to show the difficult side of sheep farming. Consumers need to know that raising livestock to bring to market is very tough and demanding work. QUESTION: Still fairly new sub and this is my first lambing with you! My question is.. What do you then do with all the babies? All i know about sheep is the way Sandi has taught me lol And you do everything sooo different.. Sometimes you number or letter the babies and sometimes you dont.. You don't tag the babies and keep track any of any of them.. Why don't you tag and track them? And Sandi flat out says where the babies go a couple months down the road.. Obvisously to market.. So what do you raise sheep for? Market? Your own food? Pets? I'm just curious where they end up going.. Thats all.. Thanks for sharing!! 😊😊

He’s trying to use flockwatch to track & tag lambs this year…they’re usually lettered (singles) or numbered (multiples) before they go out if they’re born in the shed. If they’re born out, I guess he’s not always around/doesn’t have spray to hand/won’t catch them just to mark them when they’re dry x

Great answers guys😁. So outside lambing sheep we don’t number. Inside sheep get numbers for twins, letters for singles. All inside sheep are tagged and recorded to their mums. Outside sheep will be tagged when lambs are in for tail docking.

I totally understand how watching the downs of lambing is hard for some people. But, I love lambing time! Keep bringing us all of it! I so appreciate what you and your entire team do! Still only understand you about 88% of the time, being 1/3 Scottish I figure that’s better than I thought! 😉🐑🐑🐑🐑❤️☺️

G'day from Northern Australia. We have a saying here that I think fits Scottish farmers as well as Australians -"If you've got livestock one day you'll walk out and you'll have dead stock!" Find dead stock is part of having livestock. IT's the grim, and sometimes heartbreaking side of farming that most folks don't see or even think about when sitting down to a lovely Sunday roast. Keep up the good work Cammy, family and crew. Lambing is but a small part of your farming year. ~D.

Yeah cammi you’re videos are brilliant anyone taking offense to your lambing videos should definitely not be looking at the videos because they’re definitely not farmers-as they would definitely understand the ups and downs with sheep in general.never mind lambing. You guys do an amazing job of showing the real life problems of our farming communities.you’re doing a brilliant job guys I know I’m speaking for 99 percent off all sheep farmers.unreal guys.marais your brilliant 👍👍👍

🇨🇦 here. Like Sandy B. You video it all to show other farmers, this is what farming. This is life. There death and death is part of life. As a nurse, a RN was gutted each time we lost one and especially when the patient was young. $h!t Happers

I did comment a couple of videos ago but it was on someone else’s comment….just saying I really appreciate the content, I have adhd and a terrible terrible memory, literally have to re teach myself the baler controls every year 😂 as though I’ve never used it before…so you can imagine what lambing’s like!! Your channels like a one stop journal for me and I can normally find the answer on here which more often than not jogs my memory to a past experience of my own, but without that help I’d never remember! There’s not a lot to be learned from watching healthy lambs skipping in a field (as nice as it is) but plenty to be learned from your lambing vlogs. Hopefully I’m not alone in saying, no need to apologise or change a thing 👍👍

I always look forward to our videos, the good, the bad and the ugly. It makes me appreciate how hard farming is but, I also understand that the death of animals can be quite triggering for people, thanks for not being hard on them! You are a very caring person and you would prefer that all goes well but, you can’t prevent everything!💕🇨🇦
