Shoutout to Terry Crews, who was just starting his acting career and got the chance to stand next to one of the greats, in an Oscar-worthy performance.
@@DeMarcusReevon the movie was good but this scene was garbage. i wouldn't expect you to understand. shouting and out of direction aggression is always appealing to people like you. i can see why you loved it. but despite your lack of sophistication for consistent story telling, the scene still remains the worse scene in the movie. cry all you want, this fact wont change.
I was not able to find terry in the movie!! ILL look again...anyway this was a great movie! Slightly top bloody for mixed company to watch, and they could have received the same impact and got their points across if they had reduced the excessive profanity and totally avoided the nudity....+ I would have been thrilled to death if the director had eliminated the abundance of unneeded violence! Im aware that this movie was rated " R" but you could've made much more money from this movie if you would have left out more annoying unnecessary scenes by reducing an excess of redundant all the wall stuff such as Lonzo pulling over the young white boy & his girl from the other side of the tracks with intentions of buying weed! Other than that excellent flick.😅
@@daviddavis3389 Terry is the big guy standing next to Denzel. Literally the ONLY person standing close to him among the gang that surrounded him. How could you miss that. Yeah it's indeed a great movie. Great script. Focused on its objectives. Didn't try to spin some agenda. And great acting too.
That look in his eyes at the end, when he's laughing outwardly but clearly fearful internally, for an actor, that is a sign of greatness. It was over and he knew it but couldn't let them see his fear. But his eyes told you everything,.
Yeah when it came out and as we were watching the movie, slowly realizing that, Denzel is the bad guy?!!! Up to that point, any Denzel movie that came out, he was always on the side of righteousness. It really did have an impact, just blew everyone away, not just the fact it was Denzel but just how he brought that character to life like no other. 😊
I saw a clip where Terry Crews talks about getting to do that. I saw it on YT. IIRC he is friends with someone working on the film. He's a fan of Denzel, and wants to see him in action, so he gets to visit the set. The director spotted him and asked if he'd like to be an extra. Terry jumps at the chance. Terry said he is also seen earlier in the film doing something on a rooftop.
This was his 1st movie scene. He was a security guard who was invited to watch the scene. Director noticed his size and asked him if he wanted to be in the film. He took off after that
The fact that this man only has two oscars baffles me. He is the epitome of an amazing actor. ALL his roles. Never seen him in a bad movie ever! He needs his flowers.
Hummmm! Good point, but, there’s a lot of great ones down through history, he’s not the only one. Sidney Poitier , Viola Davis Robert De Niro , James Earl Jones , Harry Belafonte etc etc, so we all have to be fair when you use the word greatest. Peace 🙏🏾
That’s what I don’t get when Max & Universal upload clips from various films. They’ll show the graphic violence and blood but God forbid they let some F bombs slip through lol
Only Denzel can deliver a speech like that. We may have the words on paper, but switch Denzel for anyone else this would not be the same. Great also to see Denzel play a villain, which does not happen often. Spectacular performance.
Black jack Randall from outlander, Heath ledgers joker, Malcom’s clockwork orange, brothers that sell children’s bodies parts on Man from nowhere, cop and criminal villains in I saw the devil. Honorary villain: Fendor from cyborg.
I love this movie, damn it was an amazing flick and Denzel was absolutely fantastic in in. But this scene, this scene is what separates an actor from a legend. You can feel the desperation, the fear and hopelessness. You can seen it in his eyes, hear it in his voice, see it in his movements... Denzel is one of the best, if not the best actor in the world...
This is why he is one of the last few A listers left. Hats off to Terry Crews he is amazing. Denzel really did good in his supporting role of Crews here.
Yes, but Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke were at their finest. This was an acting masterclass. Rough movie but so truthful if you know people involved in this game. Give and take. I mean Denzel Washington has had some of the greatest performances in cinema history. He and Daniel Day-Lewis are my favorites. I still think they need to go back and give him an honorary Oscar for his performance as Malcolm X. Whew!!!!!!!!!
Hate when people say Denzel is Denzel in every movie, because he's not, he hits different emotions eloquently. Just because he's great at everything, doesn't mean he's doing the same thing every time, he just adapts that well, it's effortless. This is defeat, anger, desperation, panic. It's a different person, personality, emotions than shown in John Q, Glory, Malcolm X, Man on Fire, and even Equalizer. He's truly a master, and the greatest of his generation.
Alonzo's death scene when he breathes heavily after getting hit by lots of bullets always reminds me of the scene when he guns down Roger and tells him to breathe, looks like he got the same fate in the end. It's as if the russians said "Breathe dog" too lmao. What a coincidence.
@@ItzSJbroitalian mafia had a rule not to shoot innocent family memebers of rival gangs/crime organisations as a form of retaliation. Russian mafia didn't care for that rule. Albanian mafia made sure it was standard practice😂
Denzel was phenomenal in this scene.. He's always top notch... The guy who plays make sorry can't think his name but he did great to in it.... Jake did right.... He left Denzel to the dudes that Denzel thought he could put fear into and play good cop and bad cop with.... In reality that whole hood could of killed Denzel thought I think the hood knew Russians were after him so they left him to die to the Russians.
Came to watch this scene as Terry Crews described it on Club Shay Shay 🤯🤯 😭 wow and the fact that there’s a bright green sign over his shoulder and his career has not stopped is just a testimony!!! Stay ready! You never know when a blessing is heading your way!!!
It's actually "SHU program." SHU is an acronym for Security Housing Unit, which is basically extreme solitary confinement (hence the 23-hour lock down part).
Denzel is great and there are a couple of scenes in this film where he gives a very special performance. In the rest of the film he gives the “right” performance but it's not extraordinary even if it's as appropriate and well balanced as it should be. He got the Oscar more because people thought it was his time. He has given more impressive performances and not won but in this year there were a few performances that were exceptional performances that sustained that level throughout.
There are real life police officers who are just as arrogant as Alonzo Harris is in this clip. They really believe that badge makes them untouchable. (Denzel Washington's acting was outstanding in this movie!)
Most people who are police officers are scary mfs scared to throw hands or threw hands, got they🤬whipped and still can't let the 🤬go so they get a badge and a gun and hunt down anybody that resembles the one that rocked their🤬 shoots them down and feels a level of revenge and satisfaction . Need I say more?
Club Shay Shay's Terry Crews interview brought me here. I've seen Training Day when it came out, but I never noticed that was Terry. He said that role led to Friday After Next. The director saw him just standing behind the lines and asked him to join the scene because of his looks. He had just started going back to the gym. It reminded me of that saying you don't have to get ready if you stay ready.
That’s what you call divine intervention. TC being in the right place at the right time. That’s not luck , you know what time it is. TC is a good Dude. Also, I can’t believe Denzel only has two Oscars. What about, X and the hurricane… come on now…
Me being from the UK and watching this back in the day I thought he actually meant, "Shoe program". A program actually designed to teach convicts how to make shoes 🤦🏽♂️. Thank god for comment sections...the things you learn.
That last laugh B4 Denzel puffed his cigarette & looked sadly @ his baby mama! That was the laugh\ smirk of of a street wise, arrogant warrior that knew he was coming 2 his end. Just had 2 appear all confident 2 the world. I feel his pain in real life. Great sinister character in the movie. Great movie.
The Terry Cruz Interview had me check this out again. One thing about this scene is it was shot in the Jungle. It is not a projects it is just an area you DO NOT GO unless you had a Street Head Nod pass from family, tight partners. It may have mellowed some but not someplace you hung out when I was a youngster on the streets. It is actually surrounded by very Nice areas on all sides, it just turned out to be what it was, at one time. The other thing is there were only two ways to get in and out if I remember so you had to know before going in. lol don't know now. Haven't been in that area for years. Hopefully it has gotten safer.
After o boy came up and told him to jet Denzel's face was priceless, he knew it was over , Jake walking away, Denzel calling out to him, Jake wasn't listenin'..
