SAFA please! more rides like training with Dante Young etc. stuff..it helps a lot to have positive mindset in road biking sufferings! Big ups from Russia!!
Don’t know how I missed this one but I did. Such a solid video Safa. Your training rides are my favorite to watch. This one is so good. I’m more of a road cyclist but wow does this make me wanna throw some gravels on my trek! Love as always ✌️♥️
I was a little surprised to hear Payson say he can't wait for dropper posts on gravel bikes. I've had a dropper post on my Kona Libre for more than a year. 19:55
Dunno but can't see my previous comment so repeating it here. Just wow X 1000. Every video just gets better and better with time. Thanks Safa. Really enjoyed the expert camera work and beautiful drone footage. Also impressive was the number of hikers miles away from their cars. The beach ending was the icing on the great experience that I used as last part of my two hour spin session. Thanks again. Way to go.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼💪🏼💪🏼🤗🤗🤗
Since Payson brought up John Tomac I will contribute a story about him. He trains his son, Eli who is a mutli-time pro MX/SX champion. Anyway several years ago the two of them were on a training ride on MTBs. John took a bad digger and fractured/ dislocated one of his elbows. He then rode an hour and a half back to the truck. He's still a stud...
Thanks so much for creating these wonderful training videos - especially like this one and the one with Colin. I'm sure the others are great too. Just got a gravel/drop bar MB and love the single track on it. Winter has hit and I always didn't like indoor training. Think this year will be different thanks to these. Stay safe out there!
sick! I have a trek checkpoint sl5 and it rips- great to see you guys putting this stuff out there. gets me stoked for my rides. if you think of it could you address the height and proportional adjustments many make to the stem to drop it more for road winds, but for terrain like you're riding. curious any thoughts on what changing the line of the front fork to hands ratios affects the control center. i get the basics, but wanting to drop my front end a bit and wonder how to figure in the factory designed geometry, as i do a ton of mtn bike single track and also road traverses. sorry long question- cheers Brian SAFA
I have a checkpoint sl I built up last year for gravel/touring that's now my only bike. I keep the stack pretty high compared to most roadies and just bend my elbows more in the drops to get under the wind when I'm going fast. I also have 2cm wider bars than they normally spec on my size frame and I feel like it gives me better confidence on gravel than my old bike that had super narrow bars. I just roll my wrists in when I want to go fast on the roads to get my elbows closer together.
so surreal seeing you guys bomb my local trails! 50:14 ya could have gone up and hit the Jedi jumpline but probably but too fun on gravel bikes. Thanks for not talking shit on eMTBs cuz I'm on that eBike gang
@@SAFABrian as you probably already know, the "big boy" jump line around there is the Kenter Whoops. real close to where you started this video. Too big for this middle-aged eBiker but I like taking the pump track-like joey lines
How far could you ride these trails? It looks like they go on forever? And yeah, its fun being under gunned/stupid. Do want a gravel bike. Do find my mtb just dumbs down so many trails now days
Once I figure out the hydraulic brake I'll do it all myself. It's all simple enough, just takes a little time figuring it out and building up a quality tool set.
I've been trying to up my hours to pro hours and it's hard. I can get to 12 hrs, but it's not consistent. I'm getting there though. I think it might be easier to get more hours once I'm riding outside again.
Trek Checkpoint for sale, rode less than 100miles looks great. That thing was slayed, This is stuff I'd feel uncomfortable on my steel frame. Bike control on both riders is phenomenal. Love these videos. SAFA Brian, do you ride any MTB?
Great vid as always. One for Payson ( and any other checkpoint riders), I run a smaller frame and get toe overlap, especially running 45's. It's ok, but sometimes can catch you out on tight singletrack. Any tips? Also, what dust cover are you using for headset, need to slam my stem. Thanks
So you're on the top of a (relatively) deserted hill, nothing around, maybe some hikers, coyotes, occasional mountain lion...all fair and good- but tell me, why, oh why is there a newspaper dispenser, with newspapers in it, up there? I mean, it's nice to put one in your jersey on a cold morning, and I remember when print papers actually were a thing, but on top of a mountain in the LA outback? is it for the 4 legged locals to keep up with the town? And if I put in my quarter and take out two, will anyone notice?
They banned supertuck because everybody's watching these road bike competions. UCI is assuming that even beginners will copy the supertuck (which is dangerous even for pros) once they watched it on TV that's why they banned it.
