Guildford train station is managed by Network Rail. The station has 8 platforms but only 7 are in use. The huge majority of services are run by South Western Railway with the exception being a half-hourly service between Reading and Gatwick Airport run by Great Western Railway.
My session lasted around two hours and was more than enough to capture most types of rolling stock calling at the station. All footage was taken from platforms 3 and 4 facing London.

Thank you. It's nice to catch the 455s on video for the first time.

Are you allowed onto the platforms just to watch/video trains?

Hi Dylan, I usually travel by trains to my destinations, so I have a valid ticket and reason to be on the platform. Occasionally in some locations security guards or welfare staff will come and talk to you to see if you are okay, but normally they are fine with taking video, photos or trainspotting. If you live local and don't have a rail ticket try talking to local staff at the station or the information desk and they may allow you to go on the platform.
