A Weekday of East Anglian services at Hatfield Peverel, heading around Eastern England, United Kingdom. Trains include:

- 321/3 - Built in 1988/90 - 'Renatus 321' Refurbished in 2016-18

Train Numbers - e.g. 43032 or 800110 - These are train numbers which are specific to that train. No trains can be numbered the same. Locos are 5 digit numbers where the first two numbers are the class of train e.g. 67010 would be a class 67. So I did go to Norwich this past Saturday. Sat in the middle of the concourse at London Liverpool Street, between platforms 8-10 where Class 745's depart. There were engineering works taking place on part lines to Cambridge and Stanstead Airport. Anyway, I sat at the rear of the Class 745 train, first class, single seat and I enjoyed the journey. I heard the announcement that there was no catering on the outward journey to Norwich. On the return, there was a sixty minute gap between the service (all standard class) and the next service (that I did board that had first class accommodation towards the front train). It was a busy train, particularly at Ipswich. It was the equivalent of a stopping service. At Liverpool Street, c2c services depart from there to Shoeburyness instead of Fenchurch Street probably due to engineering works. Three months to the day till 'The Deltic Deviation' to Newcastle.

Hatfield Peverel railway station is on the Great Eastern Main Line in the East of England, serving the villages of Hatfield Peverel and Nounsley, Essex. It is 35 miles 74 chains (57.8 km) down the line from London Liverpool Street and is situated between Chelmsford to the west and Witham and to the east. Its three-letter station code is HAP. The station is managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates all trains serving it, as part of the East Anglia franchise.

At the time of recording, it was pretty clear that the 321s and 720s were 50/50 on services but with the classic 321s gone, the 720s have now taken around 80/20. I have one more video in 2021 which includes 321s and looking forward, its unlikely they will be around at the end of 2022 :( Thanks for your comment TrainSpotting Ldn, its much appreciated 👍😃

Due to the lack of available 720s. Plenty of services are only 5 coaches + you have to cater for units to Cambridge

There are still plenty of 321's around now, I go on them all the time. If you went to any station on the GEML you wouldn't be waiting long before you see one

Glad you enjoyed it Ben. I've heard a rumour that the 317/7s may be returning to GA soon. I know you're not with GA now but do you have any intel from your side?

@@StarlifeStudios Don't believe so mate, Pretty sure they are scrap! Been sat dead for months at Ely. 317/5s are being stood down VERY soon as well. Of course on the railway anything can happen.

@@benGBRf Thanks Ben. Looks like GA are stretching the 720 fleet (that they have) although I take it the 317s and 379s are still expected to be in use until the end of Feb. Might have to make an emergency visit!

@@StarlifeStudios my advice with GA is get whatever legacy units you can at the moment. Even the 379s are being stored at Parkeston in Harwich with no apparent future certain

It is true the frequency of stopping services BUT when more used to stop no one or maybe 1 person would get on or off so it was not worth it.

Sad to see the Class 321s being phased out by the Class 720s. I definitely would miss them with the screaming loud thrash as the Class 720s are so quiet when they pass through. And more Class 720s are being delivered from Alstom Derby train manufacturing plant. Which are now operating on Liverpool Street-Southend Victoria, Southminster, Braintree, Colchester, Clacton-on-Sea, Colchester Town, Ipswich, Walton-on-the-Naze and Harwich Town.

They are Ex-Northern. Which I think they are to be scrapped along with the other unrefurbished Class 321s except few are to be stored and converted to be used for “SWIFT” parcel logistics units. And the refurbished Class 321 “Renatus” are to be stored and converted to Class 600 “Breeze” Hydrogen units.
