Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at Motherwell located on the West Coast Main Line and Argyle Line where services are seen by Scotrail, Virgin Trains, CrossCountry and Transpennine Express.
Motherwell was a really nice station and reminded me a lot of Lewes station due to the triangular shaped platform layout at the North end of the station. The station is quite good as it serves most express trains with infrequent Virgin Trains and LNER calling there. The local service platforms are interesting seeing as trains to Glasgow depart from the opposite direction and go around a loop. It was also my first sighting of a Class 88 which I was very happy to see, even if it held trains up! The station has good facilities and is staffed, definitely one I'd recommend!
