Ah lovely modern day edition For those who don't know the class 387s can now absolutely go 110mph. On some lines they were never allowed, but on the great Western mainlines they go full speed now!! Hooray!
It’s a Class 768 - It’s a Class 319 that has been extensively modified and thus reclassified as a Class 768 as it has had Diesel engines added to make it a bi-mode train, as well as being converted for freight use (Parcels and mail).
That looks like a signal repeater that would say ‘off’ when the signal isn’t at red as the guard from the position that they would open / close the doors wouldn’t be able to see the signal due to the platform being on a curve.
