Just got out of a movie and am dead tired but this is good, it has given my some ideas for my peraonal route, as far as mountain/hilly areas go. Thanks
Nice route! I am building my own shortline route in Trainz based on the town Copperhill Tennessee, and was a little unsure of how I was going to do the mountains. Not anymore! I intend to use the same methods you did here to make my own. I will be posting route building videos in a few weeks. So once again, thanks!
How do you do that thing where you bring up a big hill and spread it out like clay to look like a mountain? Are those individual clicks or am I missing something about the tool?
Those are indeed individual clicks. Once I have the hill at the height I want. I use the flatten tool and start smoothing downwards to give the downhill effect.
lol. Im kinda picky about the assets I use. I want places to look good yet at the same time using as little assets as I can. my finger btw, didnt hurt all that much. My mouse has a button that can place multiple assets at once :)
@Trainman7616 When I watch your speed builds, I noticed that your ground when unpainted has blue squares. Mine are yellow and I have the latest build. How did you get yours to be blue?
Hi ya. The grid you see in this video is from one of Jointed Rails routes. they reskinned or recolored the grid to be blue then it overwrote the builtin one. My own personal board is black. Its quite easy to make it.
you did a good job No kidding about route building taking time it takes alot or time, trile and error to get it looking how you wont it to look at the end. keep up the grate work
YOU ARE TRAIN GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! please show me how you do this amazing work. Also how did u change texture of the grid to blue? Number 1 sub for life :).
When you download JointedRails Midwest Grain route you recieve a blue grid to replace the yellow one apon install. As for how I do the terrain. I will put up a video tutorial once I figure out what to call my new channel.
trainman7616 Been building since '09 and i still cant sculpt for S**t, just look at my videos. Every single one of my trainz-related videos(accept for one) is a hand-built route, usually for my own use as just a small circle route for playing with trains. Although recently I've been revisiting older routes and redoing all the terrain and scenery which is much better in my opinion.
The Arctic Gamer Ah it just takes awhile. I've been doing this since 2006, so I have picked up some tricks and taught myself others. A good tip is to have a keen eye for objects that look good together and for those that dont. Im also a model railroader so I have another upperhand with that. If you would like, I am going to make another speed build video on my new trainz channel (TheErectingHall). It will be rather lenghty though :).
trainman7616 Nice, i taught myself this trick from an old 2005 model railroader special issue i got before ever even really starting model railroading or z-scale trainz. "You can use small bushes in large clusters on background hills and get the exact same effect as individual trees" My modified version is I always put: Grass and Shrubs next to or intertwining the tracks, bushes and etc along the treeline(From hours of studying how forests connect to highways and rail lines), then speedtrees from about 10m to 50m away, and everything else is old 2d meshes.
oh, and one more thing i dont know if you ever had this problem but when i start up trainz 12 it gets in but my mouse pointer isn't aligned with anything, Like when i clicked on route it clicks on something else, and then goes out of the program, do you have a solution for this?
+LoSTheKiller Antialiasing is the smoothing of the image or sound roughness caused by aliasing . With images, approaches include adjusting pixel positions or setting pixel intensities so that there is a more gradual transition between the color of a line and the background color.
Released that makeshift Sierra 3. I have since refined my modeling abilities and have started building higher detail yet less polygon heavy models. Eventually going to become payware.
KidDoesTrains Nah, I dont like the DLS, if I put a route on there then I wouldnt be able to remove it if I wanted to. I have a page over at theerectinghall.info under trainzamerica.
