It’s a very well made bag, but WAY too big for most to EDC, unless you lug a ton of gear. Specifically, it’s insanely long. My wife said I looked like an Uber delivery guy. If it was 1 1/2 inches shorter, it would have been killer.
I just returned my Muir 3 and I wouldn't say the shoulder straps are sufficiently padded. They are similar to their other bags, but I'd still put them below average in terms of comfort and material (the webbing on the straps). And the width may actually be a detriment. The whole pack was actually really comfortable against my back, but the shoulder straps made it a painful return.
Just wondering if the xpac material will crease easily after a few months of use. I own a bag with xpac 42 and I hate the "bumps" gradually developed after a few weeks of use.
Sorry to comment on an older video, but I had a few questions about your experience with muir iii . 1. If you don't have the bag on and you have a waterbottle in one of the waterbottle pockets and then you tip the bag over does the waterbottle stay retained or does it just fall out? I'm thinking of a situation like putting it in an overhead bin. 2. How does that x11 hold up with use? I heard you say in your video that you have other bags in the same material. Thank you!
As always enjoy your review! I purchased this bag mainly for travel. I usually travel with my GR1 21L or my Storr 25L and both are great but often find they are pretty packed out with a travel pillow, jacket and my usual edc carry. The slight larger size of the Muir lll is nice not being over stuffed and access is so easy with their thoughtful zipper configuration and the roomy top quick access pocket. Although taller, its slim profile is also nice in crowded conditions.
I got the special addition. Feels like a more refined less tactile Mystery Ranch Dragon to me. Enjoying it so far. I’m in the camp of folks annoyed that GoRucks don’t have built in WBPs. So bags with two nice ones are my jam. Safe travels and thanks for the review.
Nice video! What would you compare it to so far as in capacity? I don’t trust any companies rating. My GR1 26 holds a crap load more than my phoenix 2.
@@JBOutside1 thank you so much. I like my GR1 26 slick, but I don’t care for the way it looks when it’s not full. Maybe I need to sell and try this. I go back and forth between the GR1 26 and my Phoenix 2. I just don’t like how my phoenix 2 is so narrow at the bottom. If it was square so it held a couple more liters, it would be my perfect edc/short travel bag.
I saw the "Osprey (osbrey)" backpack in the wild in Manhattan this morning. And it does resemble the Lowepro 15L Photosport... I've had mine for a week and love it.
One thing I thought of with this bag for edc is that the laptop access is sideways. So if the bag is standing next to you, it’s not really ideal to pull the laptop out. I prefer top access laptop compartments for my edc bags.
I dont think this has a luggage pass through right? If so, how do you manage the carry on with the bag if you’re not wanting to always wear it on the back? 21:07
Bought a Storr 25L bag and love it so far. A little too big - maybe should have bought the 20L. Considered a GoRuck GR1 Heritage as well. Very similar bags. Thanks for the casual, but insightful review. Thumbs up!
It’s a great looking pack, thanks for the video JB! What takes away from the aesthetic for me is the side water bottle pockets. I just much prefer the Bannoch style over the Storr style. And regarding that Rehose, I wish more would have removable laptop sleeves like theirs. Definitely appreciate that since I rarely travel with a laptop, but I’m probably in the minority.
There is a bannoch vx camo now that they made a few numbers of. Immediately thought of you when it came in my inbox. The opening resembles mous their backpack. Or the other way around as this is older.
I really wanted to like the Muir 3 but the shoulder straps are far too close together at the top and dug into the side of my neck so had to send it back - I’m 5.10’ 190 pounds
Man I tried so hard to snag a “Glow worm” so hard… ( no luck ) I’ll wait and see what the secondary market looks like. Haha. I have been wanting a white and orange >>-C-> bag for a wile and it seemed like the closest I was gonna get for a wile. Great video. Now seeing more of the bag I am having second toughs on not getting one.
Muir Muir Muir is the long way of saying Muir III. That 2 compartment bullet looks like it could carry all of the many bullets I’ve owned at once. The Bullet has lots it identity.
