I am about 1 week off tramadol and I have noticed that my old clever sense of humor is back again! Also I don’t feel like I’m on a roller coaster off getting high and coming down, getting high and coming down… also I’m quitting Marijuana at the same time, so double the symptoms but it’s all good, God is faithful and He will carry me through. My tips with withdrawal: have a variety of ready-to-eat, comfort foods at home, drink lots of water, buy lots of soft toilet paper (runny nose, sneezes and constant diarrhea), you wont be able to work so plan accordingly, also the chills/sweats are hell so plan around mild weather (Spring or beginning of Autumn), distraction is your best friend so have all those planned (=youtube videos!), tell people around you so they know the reason for your mood swings, life gets dark during withdrawal so have all your mood lifters around you. You can do it, you are strong!

I'd been Tramadol free for years, but started taking it again after a terrible typhoon left us without running water or electricity in the scorching heat. Now, I take 50 mg/day (rarely more), but know there will be a 5 day withdrawal period once I run out. Of all the withdrawal symptoms, restless legs at night is the most difficult to deal with.

When I once didn't have tramadol and started to withdraw, the worst symptom for me was a feeling of crawling skin and feeling like I wanted to claw myself out of my own body. I would continually arch my back and tense. It's a horrific and frustrating feeling that honestly, after experiencing, is my worst fear. That's before we mention the intense depression and feelings of hopelessness. I don't abuse tramadol and only take about 300mg a day but it has actually had a positive effect of my life. It motivates me, I feel content and confident. It works like an anti depressant on me.

@@18laila I haven't heard anything about that. They will need to taper you off slowly. Coming off it terrifies me. I've been on it for 14 years now and honestly in those 14 years I've achieved more than at any other point in my life. I'm more productive, ambitious, motivated and all round happier. They were prescribed for chronic back pain after an accident and whilst they still do keep that pain in check, I use them just as much now as almost like an anti depressant and they work. I know some people can end up abusing them but I haven't after 14 years and I know I won't but I would be lying if I said I wasn't afraid that one day I would be asked to come off them. I genuinely don't think I can and frankly I don't want to.

I chose this medication because I was told it was stronger than Tylenol and wouldn’t make me feel intoxicated…and it doesn’t….but I can no longer take the condemnation of nurses Doctors and such…I have actually increased my cannibus and Tylenol use…after all I take it for chronic pain…no one seems to address that…I feel like I am aging overnight the pain of 30 years ago is is increasing and this is only day three…

I have been on tramadol as needed since 2003. The most I have ever taken is 300 mg in 24 hours. Without it, I couldn’t have gone back to work after a very serious car accident. For me, transform was way harder than Percocet and hydro codone. I took a lot, if both, about 8-12 pills a day, 80-120 msg of Percocet and hydrocodome a day or 800-1200 mg of tramadol. But now I’m done, lost so many jobs and caused my family so many problems because of these addictions. I’m done! I just want a normal life. I tapered to 1-2 pills a day, then to one, split in to 2-3 pieces, then half a pill, and then nothing. Been without it for 8 days, felt horrible the first 2-3 days but then it got a little better. But still, my hands and legs feel restless all day and tingly non stop, like I can’t stop loving them. I feel so tired all day, and coffee won’t help much. My mind is blank and my back aches so much. Crazy! But it’s for the best! I’ve taken this on and off for 8 years and I’m now 33, and want a normal life! I’m tired of losing jobs and having so many problems! 😔

I haven’t taken it yet doing a bit of research first. Now I am thinking twice ! Besides the withdrawals how is it for pain compared to endone? @@justjuli3t Tramadol worked really well for my back pain. I was on the 100mg SR twice a day for almost 2 years. The best thing about Tramadol is it didn’t give me much brain fog like Endone and Palexia does and I was able to work and function normally while on it. I had almost no bad side effects either, just the occasional headache. It was only when I quit that it turned on me. My God the withdrawals! The physical stuff was horrible (I won’t go into that, pretty standard stuff even if it was severe) and usually painkiller withdrawals only last about a week for me but the Tramadol withdrawals lasted 3 weeks. The physical part was horrible, but it was the mental stuff that was hell. I had horrible nightmares for more than 6 months, the world seemed to look and smell and sound different (much worse) and it put me into the deepest darkest depression I’ve ever experienced. I lost interest in everything I used to love, stopped being able to function normally and lost my job and it took me over a year to get over the mental stuff. Neither Panadeine Forte, Endone or Palexia did the mental stuff to me. It’s probably OK short term, but for the long haul I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. In saying all that everyone is different and maybe you won’t experience what I did. Hopefully this all helps you with your decision.

Panic attacks are the #1 reason why opiate addicts have such a hard time. It causes a very unique panic attack that must rival the worse panic attack symptoms. Once you get the anxiety down, it will come back the moment you realize you can breath. The fact that there is no escape in days that seem incredibly long is just hard to describe. Opiates are evil. The fact that weed was illegal while people I know got hooked on pain killers, heroin, and fentanyl is such a shame.

6 hours but you usually feel the real craving about 12 hours later and it's a real deep one. Tramadol 100 ER kind of blurs this line. Tramadol makes it hard to swallow and constipates but it also means it has positive effects for IBS on a constant dosage if well regulated. It also reduces heavy cough during bronchitis and thus limitates tearing of the oesophagus. And lastly if take in moderate doses it has tremendous upsides to raise the mood of people like me who suffer from bipolar II with emphasis on depression, plus IBS and chronic pain from trauma-induced nerve damage in articulations and bones. All in all it's well worth it enduring withdrawal. The best thing is to anticipate it and keep a dozen tables to reduce the dosage so that the eventual weaning will be as smooth as it can be (down to 50mg for instance).

@@johnlyon949 it's doable. The most difficult part is committing to that plan. Because I remember when I started weaning down, I'd be so sure that tomorrow I'm going to take 1 less pill. And then tomorrow came and I'd panic and promise myself I'd do one less pill the next day. Well eventually I had no other choice but to reduce the amount I was taking. The doctor who used to either sell me a prescription or the pills directly from his surgery had died very tragically. I had no opinions but to cut down. So I told my twin brother what was going on. I asked him to please hold the pills for me and give me the amount I specified to wean down to. And it worked. There really is nothing to be scared of. It's just that tramadol messes with your mind. Well if you have chronic pain you'll probably have to continue to take something for it, something stronger than ibuprofen or tylenol. There's a big gap between between NSAIDs and Opiates - nothing in between. Tramadol was supposed to fill that gap, but it's just as addictive as the other opioids.
@dorotheastovall245
@dorotheastovall245 Год назад
In 2008 it was definitely known it is majorly addictive. I think it was classed in 2006 or so. It was prescribed to me in 1999 for fibromyalgia, at which time I was told it was not an opioid and was not addictive. I was actually given 800 mg a day! I was forced into going cold turkey in 2008 and couldn’t do anything for a month. It was sheer hell. I was off completely for about three years, but got back on it because it is really the only thing that seems to work for me. It’s a major hassle to get it every month because of controls, but I don’t think I could possibly do that withdrawal again. I literally wanted to die.
@burtgordon4796
@burtgordon4796 Год назад
@@dorotheastovall245 Yeah, it’s terrifying. I’ve managed to accumulate some extra for emergency but used it up slowly this summer leading up to hip replacement surgery. Now it seems that the 300 mg daily is only enough to stave off withdrawal. It no longer provides the mental benefit it once did. When I first started taking it I noticed I was able to lay around on my off days much longer and watch TV instead of being productive. It slowly has decreased my ability to enjoy life. It can be distressing. I’m very thankful you survived withdrawal. Having to go cold turkey may kill me someday. I’m afraid my doctor may have something happen to him or he could move. He has backed off of trying to take it away. He is my regular doctor. He truly has my future in his hands. Sometimes he probes about pain levels and I can see the wheels spinning in his mind about reducing the dosage if I say my pain is less. But for me it is about the mental dependence. It doesn’t matter if my pain improves. I know you understand this. I wish only the best for you. Thanks

I’m taking 2 a day.. one to be able to get out of bed and move and the other at night so I can fall asleep comfortably.. as soon as I’m back in remission, I’m going to pain management🤞❤️

I'm a daily drinker as well and gave it up as well. so I have the double whammy going on right now. 4th day in. Started clonidine yesterday and picking some gabapentin today. Yes you can, just need motivation. I was taking 2 gr a day, that's 40 caps - for a years, and I quit. Better now than for a year or two or three, and believe me this shit is consuming you and your life very fast. First 2 weeks are terrible, and after that everything comes easier. First 5-7 days, I recommend to stay home because you will be unable to do anything. You can do it believe me, it is hard battle but you can win

Its been a month of feeling worse than ever! Can't eat (almost nothing) and when I eat I feel like I have rocks in my gut and often vomit. Then today I realized that the new blister packs I started on a month ago did not have tramadol added (as some days took one pill or 2 depending on pain levels). I don't want to now start taking it again as its been a month but my stomach is still so horribly sore with a feeling as if I have rocks in my gut. Is this normal??

I guess im just going to have to take the plunge and find time!

I hope maybe this will help you. 3 years ago, my doctor tried to prescribe Tramadol at 50 mg 3 times daily. He told me they were perfectly safe, but I did my research on them. For that reason, I never took more than one pill daily. I have been slowly weaning off of that one tiny pill for a month now and am now down to 1/4 of a pill nightly. It is crazy, because only taking that small amount I am having diarrhea, restless legs and anxiety. The worst part has been the mental problems. I can't explain it, but I was not wanting to leave my house, depressed and just my mind isn't right. Two weeks ago, I started taking L theanine and 5 htp. It has helped tremendously, and I hope to be totally off of this stuff in a couple of weeks. When I wake up in the morning, I feel mentally whacky, again can't explain it but about an hour after taking the L Theanine and 5 HTP I feel much better. I dose these supplements three times daily.

Saw another RU-vid where the guy reduced it a long time gradually . So you'd go to 1/2 like a month . Then this guy crushed the half & mixed with I'm just guessing 1 t water then used a dropper taking half that for a month . Then taking it every other day then 1 time a week . Till quitting. I've been super depressed , not motivated to do anything & exhausted . No sleep unless I take alprazolam . I quit 2 months ago . Like that guy but without the dropper part . Last week felt so shitty took one & seems like I'm withdrawing all over again.

Any advice much appreciated. Hate it makes me dizzy as hell

It comes in pills as well….you can see if your prescribed can maybe give the pills instead so that gives you a little better control. Slow slow slowly coming off is best. Often this decrease the withdrawal symptoms when coming off. Some people do it over months.
@ikea7980
@ikea7980 2 года назад
Hey, you can get pills! You can split them up and take in smaller doses over a period of time - don't do methadone that is a replacement for heroin ect it's bad , don't out that shit in you, and just slowly get off tram using pills

Personally ,I found the withdrawal worse than Vicodin. The RLS at night was horrific. Stomach problems, chills, just awful. There's an odor that emits from your pores while withdrawing from this stuff. So unpleasant. Then there's a long period of not being able to feel any joy. It lasts for weeks. The mental aspects ? All I can say is good luck.
