Completely agree re manufacturing quality. I ordered 3 small kettles and they all came pre dented (in exactly the same place) and all scratched as well. That said all trangia products work really well and the triangle I have (used with both gas burner and alcohol burner) is probably my favorite stove ever.
I got the mini years ago, it never leaves the car for spontaneous hikes/picnic. The triangle I got the Lixada titanium but I can’t find it anymore, gave a few as presents and kept 2.
Got myself scratched up Trangis Mini too. Good to hear mine wasn’t an exception. But it works well though. I’ll most likely try other brands if I continue down this path.
Your review videos are always well done, Never used alcohol cookers, always use gas, May give it a try one day, I have to ask, what are the three black paintings on your back wall ? Can’t help but ask lol Keep up the reviews
Thanks so much 🙏 I was a bit on the fence with regard to alcohol stoves, started out with the jetboil. Now that I’ve used them more I do like it. You could just start with the burner and stand from the mini. They are sold separately and use a different pot. The paitings are acoustic panels to improve the sound, the room is otherwise very empty. I have them behind the camera and on the sides too. They work quite well.
@@OutdoorPrep nice that is then, a room just for reviews ! The sound quality is good. We have spare rooms but they are kids computer room, kids games room , kids sensory room lol Cheers
It is a spare room that I turned into a studio indeed 👌🏼 I don’t have a good place to go and make videos outside in the winter. City is busy and gets dark early so this was a good solution I think 🤓
I just grabbed it to check and yeah it’s quite solid. The pot has that inner circle that’s a bit smaller so it can move a bit but it’s good enough. Frying pan feels solid too but not supported by the rings. Triangle has a larger diameter so it sits more solid than on the mini stove. Cheers
I ordered a triangle the other day.....it arrives tomorrow from a caravan/camper van place in the UK so I'd say you heard wrong and where did you find the mini pot stand (or at least what do they call it on the box) because I got the 281 pot/pan set with the pot grabber and I had to get a alocs pot stand with there cheap flimsy burner which I swapped
A nice review of these products. I assume that the Mini system (itself) still needs to be used with a windscreen of some kind as the round burner stand does not look like it will do much to prevent draughts affecting the flame ?
Interesting video (as always) Have you tried or considered the Lixada folding stove as an alternative to the Triangel? I just ordered a few for myself to test out. And since I have never heard of the Trangia mini, thank you for that information. I just found that set at Outnorth (scandinavian shop) at a pretty decent price. I have yet to pull the trigger, but it looks like a good option. My wallet do not approve, but it seldom approve of anything :)
Have a look at my Jetboil Flash review and you’ll see something similar there. I’ve tried it but usually can’t use as open fire is not allowed where I camp :/ Trangia mini is quite nice indeed. Light enough to bring along. A new version of the Trangle will be available soon btw
I have the 27-6 and love that but also been trying to get both of these with no success. In the end I bought the Pathfinder Alcohol stove and am happy with that. Thanks for another great review.
I own these and the honest answer is. I went back to carrying my Trangia 27 because it was better in almost every way. It is just bigger and heavier. That is its only drawback. I am strong enough not to have to be a gram counter though. If you do have to gram count your pack the mini would be a good choice. However you could also just get stronger and carry a better product. Forget the triangle. There is a reason they stopped making them. They suck for anything more than a day hike in very low wind conditions. Just some tips from an old Trangia fan.
Thanks for you input. 25/27 are of course more resilient products but it’s not always about being not strong enough. There’s a reason there are different solutions for different situations. Triangle is being produced again and the reason it stopped was because of copyright issues. Cheers
@@OutdoorPrep Hay, I do not think they are bad. I just like the larger sets for through hikes. The triangle still gets used. but only on day hikes. but I do have to use an additional windshield with it. I do live in a particularly windy part of the UK though and we can get 4 seasons of weather in 1 day even in summer here. I know the Triangle is popular with the kids I see out and about. But I do see a lot of them using a windshield as well. I did not know they had started making them again. But I have not looked for a new stove for a few years now. Trangia are just that good I don't need anything else and I doubt anyone will make anything better for quite a long time to come. But like everyone else. I do keep looking every now and then, just in case :).
Bushbox ultralight might be a good alternative for the Triangle if not available anymore. You can use it with the Trangia. Also only 60g compared to 110G
Could you elaborate regarding the manufacturing quality? You said it's all scratched up, but other brands do better. Which brands are you referring to when you say they're better? I want to look into them. I don't want to buy a cookset just for it to arrive all scratched up. :( Which brands should I look at? Thanks.
Yeah it’s just a shame they have not refined their manufacturing process like Jetboil or MSR. The finishing seems better on. That being said - it will get scratched up anyway and I still buy trangia products and use them the most.
@@Martycycleman the inner ring or burner holder is different. It's now a smaller ring with 3 rectangles to the sides instead of a big ring with a square inside... small, insignificant change but enough for them to say it's different and be able to product it again.
Hardly surprising Trangia had to stop making these when they litterally ripped off the design from Canadian company Clikstand ,one of the worst cases of copyright infringments in recent years ,and the original is made of titanium or stainless steel so better quality . It might be the sign of desperation or lack of imagination that a company would try and pull such a stunt which given Trangias heritage is a real disappointment as they make some terriffic gear of their own !
Can we really be surprised though? The storm cooker was designed over 50 years ago and only small changes have been made. Definitely a small evolution. They have a “new design” of the Trangia that has been released now.
Info from somebody who lives in Sweden. Trangia has not stopped making the 28T Mini. Local demand has apparently increased to the extent that they have had to increase their staff from 30-odd to over 80 in order to keep up. This is in a town (where the product is manufactured) with approximately 300 residents.
@@carmenmartinez2882 plagiarism is clearly evident across the widest spectrum of manufacturing the counter argument being we were only modifying an already existing design .
