Im in love. The speed!!!!, im pulling the 3.8 out and dropping a wicked LS1 in my bird before the world end. Thanks for this video. You are my hero!!!!
Just noticed the TPS meter never reached 100%, I wonder if that was computer error, or maybe there was a floor mat in the way? Love the sound and visceral experience of what these cars can do.
Surprised he didnt change the chip, with ram air and larger mass flow and 3:4:2 rear end a stock can do 180. Biggest problem is air in and GM limits exhaust. I am pulling 398rwbh on treadmill with no ram air. Nice run and great sound
These cars are electronically limited from the factory regardless of what anyone says. Auto or manual doesnt matter and neither does gearing. They limit them to the max speed rating of the tires. A tune can remove the limiter
I've personally gone ~190 in my '99. But it's not 100% stock. I bought her used from the dad of a kid in debt and out of state, so I'm not entirely certain what all was done to her, unfortunately. The dad told me some modifications made, but he didn't know everything himself.
MasterWitchDoctor well 157 is the factory speed limiter. Doesn’t matter if it’s the straightest road in the world. Won’t go over 157 MPH unless the limiter is increase by a tune.
Hard to believe this was 430RWHP (unless you meant at crank) my 2002 6-speed SLP Camaro has 400hp at crank and I can do 120-155mph faster then this. Also, if you shift into OD those will close 170mph if you have enough road ahead, I used an Android app to record a 170.4mph in 6th gear after getting the car 3 years ago. I really like that ECU & car data you have in your video & the sound of this Bird is on point.
I'm just saying I'd expect it to be faster, in less then 10 seconds I can go from 80mph to 140-145mph range in the 4th and 5th easy.....now I don't even run any tune anymore.
The way I remember it, and I remember pretty well, you can simply look at the speedo, if you opted for the z speed rated good years, you got the 150 speedo,, and the rev limiter , this i dont know, because i never got it over 145.. but I DO know if you didnt get the optional z speed tared tires it WOULD shut down at 119 or somewhere close, I never saw one that didnt have that option! I remember reading that the camaro went like 167 while the trans am went 172 if i remember correctly, I DO remember the T/A was like 4 or 5 mph faster top end Bearnaise it was a tad more aerodynamic than the Camaro. Please can someone elaborate on this for me!
The 4th gen TA was tested to 171MPH if I recall correctly. IF you are talking about the test I'm thinking of, I seem to remember it being down to the TA they tested having standard windows and seats or something whereas the others were "fully optioned". The camaro probably has a little more drag because of the inset headlights, and if aerodynamics is the case for the few extra MPH, the camaro would have the edge at night time. 4th gen firebird headlights are like freeking air brakes. ...My 1993 TA has no limiters (rev or speed). To my knowledge (i am owner #3) my car is bone stock. I added an aftermarket ram-air kit, but that means nothing in itself. I dunno, I had to laugh a little, not only was the car in this video capable of so much more, I would have thought anyone building an engine over 400HP would have removed the speed limiter as part of the tune. ;)
I`ve punched it to 154 mph (GPS), but I didn`t end there. Just took the exit of the highway. Mine is with an automatic tranny, but almost stock (Magnaflow exhaust and with Chinese intake filter).
That thing was not gonna have it at 160. Smart of you to lift. Motor didn’t sound happy at the end. Were you in fourth? What rear end? Definitely hauling ass!
I've done 163 in my 1999 Firehawk Lingenfelter and the rate of acceleration in your WS6 seems off. Looked like more of 157 km/h than mph, honestly. No offence, but from 140 to 160 it's usually a lot slower. Guess this was a wet-nitros system?
+Shawtycuz this is what i did to my 4th gen, Pan hard bar, Relocation mounts for rear lower conntrol arms, poly urethane trans mount, and solid motor mounts. night and day difference
+Shawtycuz BMR and UMI performance make some insane suspension mods reasonably priced that will glue these to the ground. I sunk a ton of money into all of my 4th gen's suspensions. Another thing the factory ride height sits so high. BMR springs on a koni alone will keep it down. And like the comment above Relocation bracket on the back and adjustable bar and adjustable torque arm. Boom your in like Flint :)
+Mr. Punch 355 you'll love it. It'll cost you some cheddar but rear end adjustable torque arm, control arms, adjustable Panhard bar. Then hit the front and back with the sway bars in the engine the strut tower brace. Follow all this with BMR Springs and koni shocks and you'll be literally glued to any road. I have everything BMR but I went a little to nuts with the front lower and upper control arms and k member as well sub-frames. Hope this helps and check some forums. If not lowering I'm selling a few UMI Performance non adjustable suspension pieces if you want
Awsome not that is Purdy badass. It's a monster. I got one. Nobody wants to ever ride with me anywhere. They say i drive crazy. It growls. It roars like a mighty vicious beast with huge arms and sharp teeth . Nobody passes me im always passing never catching. But anyway .. Yeah🫠
