I do the Prestwich (my town) to Rawtenstall or Burnley section twice a weekfor a meal at the far end. Best freebie I know. He seemed to take an eternity at every stop, it isn't usually like that, though they are careful with pasengers. Go upstairs if possible, the scenery and views are excellent, and the bus is so comfortable.

47:17 'Dicky Bird estate Bury. They built the motorway right through the middle of a rather troublesome, for us, housing estate. I was stationed at Bury in the 70's when they built it and the estates kids were running all over it and throwing bricks at the vehicles with predictable results. 1:06:15 My last posting prior to retirement. Broughton Fire Station, Sub Officer, Blue Watch. 25 years of sheer fun. Really happy days. The number of drivers that ignored the red wig wags on turning out had to be seen to be believe. 1:11:49 Strangeways Prison on the left. I was Officer in Charge of Broughtons two pump first attendance on 1st April 1990 the start of 25 days of rioting and dodging bricks and slates. 1:13:17 The ill-fated Manchester Arena, the scene of so much tragedy and sadness when it was suicide bomber. Thankfully I was retired and missed that. 1:15:20. The road used carry straight on here towards Deansgate. Just further up the road past the Cathedral was the scene of a bombing, the second that day. I attended to a building alarm opposite (the very tall concrete building as the bus turns right) without us reading it had been bombed Fortunately no-one was hurt in that one and there was very little damage. The crowds evacuating the town centre up Bury New Road were incredible scenes. I and our two crews made the front page of the MEN that day 😅 . Just further on past the Cathedral further up the now pedestrianised area is where the massive IRA bomb exploded causing massive damage 1:18:18 on your right. Fortunately no-one was hurt or very seriously injured due to the police rapid evacuation of the area. Fortunately I had retired by then but was Facilities Manager at a building fairly local and had to attend as keyholder. Fortunately my building suffered nothing worse than severe vibration and a couple of broken windows. That was one busy weekend. Later my company sent me to the badly damaged Royal Exchange building to assist in H&S work assisting the occupiers. The state of that place was something to behold. The stench of rotting food was incredible. I have led a rather interesting life and this video has brought back so many memories, some good some bad, so thank you for posting it, it has been very enjoyable.

I worked in Highland House next to Victoria bus station, and had a bird's eye view of the Strangeways riot. I was working when the bonbs went off down the Parsonage, then at the top of Victoria Bridge St, about 40 yards away. I sensed the first bomb coming, as I saw someone in the Parsonage with orange and black tape, and instinctively pulled down my window blind. Everyone thought I was psychic. Commuted from Prestwich every day,, past Broughton fire station and the Arena, went in the Exchange every lunchtime. We led parallel lives.

Nope I disagree. It's part of the experience. If you don't like it then double tap the right of the picture and fast forward. Simple.
