Today's video will be useful for anyone planning a trip to Vilnius or having a transfer at Vilnius airport with a further journey by bus from the central bus station.
Vilnius international airport has just one main terminal, where you will find both arrivals and departures.
Upon arriving at the airport, you'll be pleasantly surprised by how quickly you can walk from the plane to the baggage claim area and exit the airport. The walk from the plane's ramp to the baggage claim takes only 3-4 minutes, and collecting your luggage and heading outside takes just about 1 minute. Vilnius Airport arrivals are located on the first floor of the main terminal building, while VNO departures can be found on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
If you find yourself needing to spend the night in Vilnius while waiting for your plane or bus, the solution is quite simple. The hotel is just a 2-minute walk from the airport terminal.
I have stayed at this hotel three times, and each visit has left me with very pleasant impressions. Despite its proximity to the airport, the rooms are quiet and always clean.
The large king-size bed with comfortable pillows and a soft mattress ensures a restful sleep. The small bathroom allows you to freshen up, and a table with coffee awaits you in the morning. Additionally, the room features a mini fridge stocked with cold drinks, small bottles of wine and champagne, and snacks, available for a small fee.
The AirInn hotel offers breakfast from 7 am to 11 am. Please note that breakfast is not included in the hotel price and must be paid 17 euro for in the hotel lobby before heading to the restaurant. As I had a long journey from Lithuania to Belarus ahead of me, I decided to go downstairs and have breakfast before checking out of the hotel.
Following the recommendation of the hotel staff, I downloaded an app called Bolt, which is the European equivalent of Uber. The car arrived right outside the hotel, and a friendly driver helped me with my luggage before we headed to the central bus station.
the Vilnius Central Bus Station connects to both domestic and international destinations.
Everything at the station is convenient and straightforward. The ticket office is situated right next to the boarding platforms, and there is a grocery store nearby where you can purchase water and snacks for your journey. Large screens displaying bus schedules are positioned at the entrance to the ticket office, and there's a small coffee stall on the platforms where you can grab a coffee for the road.
Now, let's go back to Vilnius Airport and discuss departure flights. As I mentioned earlier, Vilnius Airport has only one terminal building that serves both domestic and international flights.
When you enter the departure area, you will be surprised at how small the terminal is. The airport appears very busy, but this is mainly due to its small size.. Each airline has its own check-in area that remains constant, so if you travel here more than once, you will quickly become familiar with the airport layout. Just a few steps after entering, you reach the security area which is right in the middle of terminal.
The terminal has two levels, with the ground floor dedicated to arrivals and the upper floor for departures.
The airport has 14 gates, with six of them being used for domestic flights and the rest for international flights. The airport also has a separate VIP terminal for passengers who require special services.
Immediately after passing through security, you find yourself in the duty-free heaven . Here, travelers have another opportunity to purchase souvenirs from Lithuania, branded perfumes, and even alcoholic beverages to take with them on their journey. With only 14 gates at the airport, it is very difficult to get lost and unlikely that you will miss your flight. Small shops, cafes, and restaurants are conveniently scattered throughout the waiting area.
Vilnius Airport lounge
If you’re looking for a comfortable spot to wait for your flight, the business lounge is located in the departures area. There, you’ll find snacks, drinks, and satellite TV in an air-conditioned room, while 2 PC workstations are also available. The lounge is free to business-class travelers (except Scandinavian Airlines). Economy passengers can purchase a single-visit pass through the airport’s website
