HBCUS don’t prepare you for the real world . They prepare you to conquer the world . A Morehouse graduate is now the first black senator in Georgia. A Spelman woman helped flip Georgia from republican to Democrat . A Howard graduate is now the Vice President of the United States . That says enough . I’m proud of you for making the decision. I understand 100% where you are coming from , I’ve experienced some of the same things.
You sound like a goddam fool. You think because a black person is a senator they are conquering the world? Let me guess you voted for Obama or you are a supporter of him. Because saying stupid shit like this you must be.
@@joshdonaldson9024 there was literally no need to go out of your way and be rude and get political calm down. she didn’t literally mean conquer the world she meant that a lot of people that attend the school showcase black excellence and are more commonly successful than not..such as kamala, who is a great example of successful alumni
I am a proud faculty of an HBCU ❤. I did not attend one (tho my grandparents did and wanted me to as well; shot out to A&T State) due to my field of study/interest but within the spaces I have navigated I have gone as hard as possible developing ways to ensure students like me know their options … and CAN attend an HBCU no matter their major or pursuit … not only have I focused this in my dissertation research for many years, I have also made sure to implement what I can as someone investing in my students …. I know what it feels to be in spaces and be made to feel invisible … I don’t create those experiences and environments for anyone … and as a faculty at a university or any job, I should not feel that way either. This time is an opportunity to grow, and further understand your value and worth and be poured into. As a college student… the world is at your feet!! Be in an environment that will nurture you!!! That will inspire you and not just prepare you for the world but to conquer it!!!❤
As a HBCU graduate, I also attended a PWI, I get it. I want to assure you the investment in the experience, and the network you will gain as an alum is priceless. It is so worth every cent! Congratulations!
I feel all that you are feeling. And that’s why I want to transfer from my PWI, just talking about going to an HBCU makes me so happy and I know I can thrive and succeed there. And I know I haven’t gone to it yet but…once I have my mind set on something I don’t change it.
I am currently a junior at UMD, and I agree with everything you said about UMD 100%. I never really felt like UMD was where I belonged, but I stuck it out because I thought it would just take time to get adjusted to the new environment. It is too late for me to transfer, but a part of me wish I had. Best of luck to you!!
Yes ma’am, sounds like you’re making a good thought out decision for yourself!! I love my older Howard sisters! I’m a freshman. . . so I haven’t experienced much at all, but I am on the PR track. So far I’m really enjoying the passion within the communications department. I wish you so much luck!!
Yes Love whishing you the upmost best on the new journey you are about to embark on ! Goodluck Arion ! I can not wait for more contents to come I truly love your channel
i can totally understand by feeling like there are not a lot of people that look like you. i took ap psych my junior year of hs and was the only black girl. i didn’t really feel comfortable either
Woooowwww I am literally getting a list together of schools to transfer to when I get out of the Air Force and both Howard and University or Maryland are on my list. That's how I found your page. Be great at Howard!
Dear Baby Bison (all alumni will call you this lol), As a Howard Alumna I want to congratulate you on your transition. HU is a place like no other!! I still remember my first time I stepped on campus and the rest is history. 4 years was not enough in DC and I want to move back! I’m so proud of you for not letting your rejection deter you from applying again! A dream delayed is NEVER a dream denied! Your HBCU experience is going to be something you will cherish for the rest of your life. I can see your excitement and I can already feel that you’re going to love HU as your new home! Praying for success and an easy transition across the board! Congrats again and welcome to THE REAL HHHH-UUUU!!! 💙❤️
YOU KNOWWWW!! 💙❤️ I’m so excited, and I can feel how much you love HU just by reading your message. Thank you for the positive words and welcoming vibe. This type of message confirms that I made the right decision!!
Congratulations! If my school wasn’t paid for, I would definitely transfer to an HBCU. NCAT was my dream school but everything happens for a reason. I hope your Howard journey is everything wish for and more 💕
CONGRATS! Welcome to the Bison Fam !!! Remember while your there your network will be your net worth. That applies to classmates, visitors, professors! There is definitely a lot of opportunities there!
I am a Howard Graduate. 1986 long time ago. I love you spirit you will do well at Howard. Good Luck & enjoy the experience. Howard is a great University!
Yessss. I know what you mean. UMD is a great school but I feel like when it comes to Comm major, they focus more on theory rather than practical. This is why I want to attend UMD Shady Grove. I am hoping it would be a little different and I would have more hands on things. That is beside the race situation lol. Hope you like it at Howard! 👌
I'm so happy that you're doing what's best for you. I feel the same way at the school that I go to, but it's not as bad now because I've been at home doing zoom. I've thought about transferring to another school, but it just seems really overwhelming.
Thank you, it was a little overwhelming for me too. Now I feel relieved that I made that decision. I’m looking forward to this new experience! Stand on what you feel is right.
HBCU is a unique experience if you're black. All black smart and driven people. I went to two and wish I could've went to more. It was so much fun and I love being around my people.
Howard University is a very good school. The Communications program is excellent and has been for decades. I'm a University of Maryland grad and all my friends and family that attended HU are doing very well.
Wow I’m actually in the process of transferring to Howard from my pwi and I relate to your video sooo much like you was preaching girl I appreciate this video so much it was really inspiring!! Congrats girl!!
Hey girl we have something in common in this video. I’m a sophomore in college at Frostburg but I originally wanted to go to Towson and I didn’t get it the first time but 2 years later and now I’m transferring there this fall.
It’s the way I wanted to go to UMD sooooo bad. I got an offer to cheer on their team, got placed on the team and then my transfer application got messed up. I decided to transfer to Bowie instead because I’m not having fun at my current PWI at all!!! I think I’d rather be in an HBCU environment. I’m in the communications field as well! Hope it’s going well❣️
A lot of things seem better than what they actually are. UMD wasn’t for me. Maybe your application getting messed up was a sign for you to be at Bowie! I know I’m way happier at Howard than I ever was at UMD. I hope you enjoy your experience at Bowie better!! Good luck ❤️
I’m trying to transfer to Howard now. Do you have any tips for the application? I know the G.P.A requirement is a 2.5, but I know I want to exceed that requirement. I am currently at a PWI as well, but Howard was my first choice. I hope I get accepted.
yay congratulations!!! I'm currently a sophomore at umd and I have really been considering transferring to an hbcu so this is really inspiring me. pls update and let us know how you like it, wishing you the best!!
Good for You! Represent our HBCUs!!!! I feel all Colleges prepare you for the real world! Just stay on top of financial aid department. I am a past Howard student and DC native. Welcome to DC! Positive Vibes Only!
i just got into howard and umd as well for the spring. however howard wont give me aid until i unenroll at my current institution, which doesn't make sense, so I don't know what to do.
I currently go to a PWI, because of the pandemic, I didn't want to leave my state or pay for out-of-state tuition while doing online classes. I was going to go to an HBCU after I graduated and I still do. Something about getting my degree at an HBCU is something I dreamed about doing. I feel awkward, not myself, and unhappy where I am right now. Hopefully, for my sophomore year I can transfer! Congrats and I hope you enjoy Howard!!
I feel you girl, and I hope you transfer your sophomore year too! You deserve to be in an environment where you can be comfortable being yourself. I’m online rn & it’s a MAJOR difference, so I know it’s going to be better in person. Every class speaks and relates things to our culture. What school do you go to?
One of the top schools in the country for a law degree and one of the best schools in the country to look for the highest quality lawyers in any field of law.
Hey I got accepted to class of HU’25 Buh I couldn’t commit due to financial issues but I plan on transferring my sophomore year. Do I have a chance of getting accepted agin?😭
Yeah I watched your video on your recap of your freshman year at UMD and it sounded like you should've chosen an HBCU to begin with lol. I wonder if the pandemic had anything to do with it. Best of luck at Howard!
been feelin like this for a minute too, umd is so bland and da vibez aren't there. I didn't get into howard the first time either, finna miss u, congrats and see u around!!
