Looks great!! Using a blow dryer on edges helps shrink wrap it!! Plus it’s better to cut separate pieces for the side.

Looks great!! May I suggest if you ever do this again to do the back piece again the wall first in longer horizontal strip sticking it from the wall down just slightly pass the crease/edge you started the counter piece you did first. If you leave about 1/4 inch overlap it helps with moisture. Do along the back first then the countertop from the edge. You won't even realize the overlap is there. You'll get more longevity by using less larger pieces.

I did this for years on my ugly glitter counters ( 1978) in my house when I purchased it people thought they were real counters green marble I did it for about 10 years it last a long time ! I was very pleased then I was able too buy new counters !

We did that to closet shelves and the tops of utility tables maybe 10 or 15 + years ago. Still holding. Won’t come off either. It isn’t a sanitary surface meaning it can’t be used with a trivet for hot pots and pans nor can you cut on it without a cutting board. I do believe there are products with less adhesive for the same thing now and that are specifically for renters.

I’ve actually seen this done with tile as well! There are videos on RU-vid of people doing it. If you own the place, ive also seen people paint tile with sanding and special paint.

Pretty good! Had it for over a year and no peeling. It has a couple small sauce stains but barely noticeable.

I really wished you would've shown how to do the section of the counter in the corner as well as the sink area. I have the same exact counters, and in my head, those are the two most difficult portions of the install. I haven't seen any videos so far that show how it's done. So frustrating cause I don't want to mess up those areas

I just repeated the process down the counter. Behind and in front of the sink are just smaller pieces. When I got to the corner I did not turn the paper I just kept going the same direction.

When we bought our house, the previous owner used contact paper everywhere. It was a sticky, grimy mess. Also, in pretty sure that roaches like the taste of the adhesive on the stuff, so I would try to avoid it altogether.

Tina Bean lol. It’s better if you make it Permanente and epoxy resin over. The adhesive is pretty horrible though but looks great if it’s permanent.

Did you overlap the sections or butt them egdge to edge? Is there a noticeable seam?

You overlap a little so that water can’t get under. It’s noticeable to the touch but it camouflages pretty well unless your specifically looking for it.

It’s basically vinyl. It’s original purpose is a shelf/drawer liner. It is glossy.

Yes. It's literally just vinyl paper. Any stickiness left over can likely be scrubbed off with dish soap, alcohol, or grease remover like goo gone.

+Dianne roy it’s waterproof. Cleans like a normal counter. Contact paper is actually vinyl, which is the same material they use for outdoor signage and vehicles.

hello, how is the kitchen doing at this point? I'm totally considering doing this just to spiff up our rental, but I did have concerns about it holding up. I don't use knives on my counters nor do I place hot stuff on my counters, so those are the least of my "concerns", but just over time, ya feel me?

immediate melt if hot pot is sat on it-impossible to remove without sticky residue-there are more practical solutions.

I most definitely think you contradicted yourself. If you are cutting food on your counter top, I am scared for the bacteria concerns you've got there bud.
