I know that all competitors struggle. I also know that the struggle is part of our growth. What I struggle with as a provider is that the struggle itself transforms in people to becoming a punishing burden where the joy of competition just gets sucked out of us.
As coaches, we see players struggle and we think, "What am I doing wrong? Why can't I help them figure it out?"
As parents, we see the pain and suffering on our kids' faces when they can't succeed. We want to do anything and everything that we can to help them.
As business people, we see the struggle as self-inflicted because we are focusing on the success of other organizations or other colleagues who we feel are not as talented as us.
