Hi! 😊 It's been such a long time since posting a video here! How are you all doing? ♥ I'm doing fine and wanted to share some life updates with you, answer the questions you left on Instagram, and show you the transformation of Kashi's DIY hamster cage into a relaxing Zen Garden! 🐹🌿 I also talk about hamsters, future pet plans, share a quick supplies organization tour, and explain about de-cluttering and focusing on my health. I haven't been able to own small animals in a several years due to the stress of pets dying, seemingly so frequently. They just dont live very long and it makes me so sad when they pass. Maybe one day I'll get a hamster again. I still kept all my decor. I remember when I used to use the Hamster Hideout forums you messaged me once saying you liked a cage theme I posted and it made my day 😊

Hey! :) I'm sorry that the stress of losing your pets has affected you so deeply. It really can be tough to go through a lot of losses in such a short time. But just give yourself a break, however long that takes, and one day you might feel ready again! Time definitely does heal! ❤

Hello fellow former HHer :D I totally understand the feeling, its draining to go through the losing them what seems like every other year. It sadly took me a few hamsters that I didn't give my all to realize my heart wasn't in it anymore and stop getting another just because I can. I've since retired the cage to storage to avoid the temptation, and am keeping my eye out for just the right dog- which is what i've really wanted for a long time now.

well, if you have the conditions for it, you should get one. You're helping the lives of so many neglected small hamsters that are abandoned or treated like toys. He might have a short lifespan but at least you can take comfort knowing that you gave him the best life possible, better than most owners do. It hurts me when they die too, but that's the circle of life, i grieve, and then i keep helping many others. It's already hard for them out there, lots of uneducated humans getting hamsters and we if can make the worlds of these little animals a bit better...we should.

You said it so well about the anxiety portion of having animals that you love so deeply. I share the same worries and fears and constant checking regarding my budgie parakeets. They are so fragile and I just want to be there all the time to make sure everything is perfect!!! I set up a camera in their room so I can always check on them when Im away.

I get worried about my hamsters health too, but I try to look at the positives like I have my hamster in a 55 gallon tank and try to make his stay with me as comfortable as possible, give him new toys and chews and a huge sand bath. Your a great hamster owner, and its so cool to see how creative you got with your cage themes

Your channel is wonderful. I’m inspired by your creativity and energy. The videos are adorable. Thank you for giving your hammy such a good life. And for sharing it with us. I think it gently challenges everyone to extend great compassion to the meek & small. I have anxiety about room temperature too with my hamster. You had that anxiety because you really care. I’m glad you’re branching out in new directions. It’s tough to overcome health issues, (everyone eventually has to, seeing family members grow older is an eye opener)... but doing new things is a really great way to inspire ourselves. I understand what you mean about how stressful it is to have hamsters and having to worry about things like temperature and changes in behavior since they have such a short life span and things for them can change in an instant. I think you would be more suited to a long term pet such as a dog since they are much much hardier animals. You could give so much to a rescue dog and they will give you all that love and more back. I have never ever regretted my sweet death row shelter pit bull, despite not being ready, despite being a mildly impulsive decision, despite all of the issues she has from being a shelter dog. I saved her life and she has saved mine every day since. Dogs are the absolute best, and I think you are ready to take on the role of dog mom again :)

Aw, thanks for understanding and giving your input regarding a dog! :) I LOVE that you adopted and saved a pit bull and she sounds really sweet. I've been watching a lot of Cesar Millan episodes lately and he is so big on saying it's the HUMAN who is at fault for accidents with aggression, not the breed or the dog. He has some wonderful pit bulls in his dog pack because they have been properly raised and trained / rehabilitated to be good dogs. It's funny the amount of SMALL dogs that seem to cause more issues though - terriers, chihuahuas, etc. 😅 So I am a bit nervous about adopting an older, small dog for behavioral reasons. But we'll see what the future holds. :) I still worry that I am going to get too attached, because the longer I have an animal in my life, the harder it gets to say goodbye. So dogs are great because they don't pass as quickly as a hamster, but in another sense it's even harder when they do go. 💔

Oh my goodness I’m so glad I’m not the only one that worries about the temperature in the cage.... I always ask someone to check on my hamster on winter and summer time. And every night I get up like three times a night to check on him.... I adopted a Robo hamster from one of the mayor pet stores, he had a broken foot/leg as they give them wire wheels 😞, he had been there for two months as nobody wanted him and I was lucky to get him, he is so loving and adorable... he’s been a blessing to me.

Hmm, I could be mistaken, but I *think* I've heard about a thing that can attach to your A/C thermostat and it allows you to adjust it / see temperature readings through an app. If this is something that exists, that would be SO amazing, wouldn't it? You could check in whenever you want and even adjust it while you're out somewhere! :) Maybe you can research and check into it? P.s. Thank you!!

HoppingHammy - last week I found a WiFi Temperature Humidity Monitor and you can check the temperature and humidity on your phone so I was thinking I could use this in his cage instead of the little digital I have in there but I will definitely research and see if I can find that thing. Hey! So glad you posted! I used to have anxiety about my hamster and always be stressed, I’m 13 years old. On the first few day I got my hamster I kept waking up in the middle of the night to make sure my hamster was safe and inside his cage because my previous hamster before I didn’t realise was proper care and she always escaped, and when we went on holiday someone was taking care of her and she escaped and was never found. I’ve had proper care for my hamster that I own at the moment since I got him. There was this one time he was sleeping in a different place he normally did so I made my mum take him to the vet with me, and he was completely fine and we had to be pay £35 for it. I don’t stress or have anxiety about my hamster anymore because a few months ago I got my first ever puppy, it really helped! I never worry about my hamster anymore, I still take great care of him . It made me realise I don’t have to worry so much and it’s hard to explain how I just changed. I guess my mind was on my puppy but I still love my hamster. He comes out for play time a few times a week and he’s healthy and happy!! ❤️❤️

Lovely to see you. Love the zen cage. That must have taken a while to set up. I'm glad other small furries in need can enjoy some of your old hamster items. They will appreciate them. I'm sorry you had so much anxiety relating to your hamsters. I enjoy and appreciate every moment with mine. It doesn't mean I don't worry but I know my hams receive the best care I can possibly give them. I want my rescue hams to enjoy their life here with me as much as they can and in return, I want to enjoy having them in my life as much as I can. X

Aw Little Hammies, it's lovely to see you too! 💕 I think it sounds very nice to have hamsters to enjoy and not to feel worried or anxious while having them. That must be lovely! I wish I wouldn't feel anxious, especially as I know they are having a wonderful life. But if anything were to happen that was in my control (such as drastic temperature swings, water running out, etc.) I would feel so, so responsible and have a hard time getting over that. I think that's why I struggle so much, because I don't want to mess up or do anything that affects them in a bad way. 🤗

Oh my gosh, I can totally relate to the pet temperature anxiety! I used to get pet anxiety every summer because I was so worried my rabbits might get heat stroke. So I would just spend my whole summer staying at home checking on them. Thankfully I moved and I now have them in a space where I don't have to worry about that anymore (even though it's no longer a concern, I still check the thermometer several times a day during summer).

Awww! :( Heat stroke is definitely no joke, so I can't blame you for being so cautious to check on your rabbits! I'm glad you no longer have to worry about it though. I think our bodies can only deal with that type of stress / anxiety for so long until it starts causing a lot of negative effects on us. It's really tough to deal with. Thanks for sharing though!

Aww thank you!! 🌸💕😘 The Bruni shirt was a totally unexpected Goodwill find, and I couldn't believe it because it's so hard to find anything Bruni related, let alone at a thrift store! But it was in "like new" condition, so yay! I guess we'll see if the dog thing ever works out in future or not. 😂

Thanks for answering my question! I can relate to that a lot, it's always stressful when it comes to the health aspect of hamster care. I find I freak out when they wake up later then usual because I've dealt with a lot of pets becoming ill. It's a bit strange but I find getting older animal's is a little easier because I feel a lot more prepared for anything that could happen and there isn't as much time to develop a really strong bond so it isn't as difficult when they go

My hamster passed away and it was really hard on me, we only had two years together. I waited about half a year before getting a new pet, and I got a puppy. It was definitely the right choice, not only do I love her to pieces, but I'm relieved we will have much more time together than I did with my hamster. I think you should get a dog, young or older, they relate to people so well :) such sweet animals.

Yay! I don’t know what to say!!!!!! I’m so happy you posted! I had a lot of anxiety too with my hamster Buddy, it was making my stomach hurt really bad when he passed I got sick! I totally relate! I had a really hard time relaxing to, when my guinea pig Reese passed I was shaking uncontrollably and could not stop 😣

Omg it's been a minute since you posted lol. I really love the Zen Garden! It's super pretty and cool looking. I have been into more natural things recently too. I've been redecorating my room a bit. I added a few plants and got fairy lights with a little vine of flowers around it. It's not perfect but it still looks cute. I also like that you're getting back into ballet and practicing more. I practice some ballet, but mainly stick to acrobatics and gymnastics because I'm better at those. Not good, just better lol. I also heard ballet can help you with your flexibility and acrobatic skills which is why I try to get better at it. Also your hamster supplies is waaaaay more organized than mine, so don't feel embarrassed lol. I have bins to put my hamster supplies but if you look in them, you will see that there is literally no organization. It's not separated like toys, hides, chews, cleaning, etc. It's just there. I like the way you organized yours though. You do have a lot more stuff than me so it's actually pretty impressive how neat and organized it is. Aw thank you!! Lol yes, it has been way too long. 😂 I'm glad you like the Zen Garden though and your redecorated room sounds SO pretty! Fairy lights truly make everything look magical, don't they? 😍✨ I admire that you do gymnastics and acrobatics, because both of those sports seem so difficult (yet amazing) to me to watch. Gymnastics are my favorite event to follow in the Olympics. You're also right that ballet can help a lot with flexibility, poise, grace, and a bunch of things so it's lovely you are practicing it a bit! Thank you for your nice comment! Great video we've missed you!. Just subscribed to your 2nd channel. Really do hope to see you get another hamster soon. I know they are quite stressful sometimes but it's rewarding too, to think of the life they could have versus the amazing life that they would have with you ❤️

Thank you! ❤️ I totally understand where you are coming from, and it is very rewarding to give an animal a good life. :) I just don't want my own health to decline because of stress or lack of sleep either, so I felt it was important to take a break. Hopefully in future I'll feel ready again though!

It's so great to hear from you again! This was a really nice to watch! I can relate to the worrying part when it comes to hamsters, for me it's about my door, which feels so weird to type! I have a cat who one time got into my room that my hamster was in, and since then I've kept my door closed. But now I always feel like I have to check to make sure it's REALLY closed even though it always is. Like, if I don't check it bugs me and it's like, what if my hamster were to get hurt and it was all because I didn't double check to make sure my door is closed? Idk it probably sounds weird but yeah. Anyways thank you for making another video, and definitely take your time when it comes to whatever you want to do! Also I love your zen garden, it's definitely really pretty and calming to look at!

Aw thanks so much! I can totally understand what you're saying about your door, and I think you have valid reason for concern. One thing that has helped me to not feel anxious about forgetting to do something is to say it out loud. So for example, when you close the door, say out loud to yourself, "The door is now CLOSED." By saying it, it solidifies in your mind so you don't have to worry about it anymore. :) I hope this can help you a bit! Thank you for your sweet comment!

Wow, I just looked yesterday to see when the last time was that you posted and today you are back. Welcome back :) I totally get what you mean about worrying about things with hamsters, my vet is always telling me to enjoy them :) I have a chronic illness and mostly housebound, the one day I managed to get out the house to visit my mum and niece was one of the hottest this year and I had to lock the house up, after an hour I came back home because I was so worried about my hamster over heating. I needn't have worried he was totally fine. I had left 2 small windows open, but was worried I would get burgled :)

Hi! Nice to see you in this channel Again! I really learned So much in Your very early video’s and also enjoyed What you did with themes. And.... I did something with all that! I have built a cage myself by using table, which I Made suitable for a cage. I struggled with The themes, So I decided to first make The basics work. That is: thickness of The bedding, layers, a huge digging box, a House that can be digged in etc. IT looks not very Nice, But IT has everything my hamster needs and that is The most important. So...... autumn is coming and I hope I can bring this into The cage now too. I want to make a picture of The cage, So that everybody can see What I am talking about and maybe get some tips om How to work The theme in this cage? if you have problems with temp i would recommend a space heater with a temp meter! my room can get very cold sometimes so i have a space heater that turns on only when it dips below the temperature i set it at and then will turn itself off once it warms the room to the temperature i set! makes me feel so much better about leaving my hamster for a while lol

Hey there, nice to see another video again haha!❤ OMG YOU HAVE A NEW PHONE??? 🥳🥳 Im very sorry to hear youve struggled a lot with anxiety while having hamsters.😢 I never knew or suspected that! That must be so hard to deal with, but it does show that you are an even better animal carer than i am. I dont have those struggles. I love my hamsters too, and care a lot about them too, but not that i worry about them so much! If i were to worry as much about them as you did, i wouldnt want to have hamsters anymore, its too stressful. So i can imagine how you feel, even though i never experienced it myself. 😥 As soon as you mentioned the dog, I was already thinking about making the big hamster cage a dog play pen/crate kind of thing haha. That's such a great idea! What do you think of a papillon dog? There are only a handful of small dog breeds that i like. But i dont like chihuahuas that much (to have myself i mean)😅🙈 Great to hear that your health is better, hope it stays that way❤ Hope you have a nice day/evening/morning! 😘

Hi hi!! 👋🏼 Yes, I got a phone upgrade awhile back, which has been soooo nice!! :) One of my friends was upgrading her iPhone, so she gave me the one she had been using and it was quite a nice upgrade from the old 4s that I used to have. 😂 I can actually use apps and stuff now, so I'm very thankful she gave it to me! Ooh, I love that you also had the thought about using the big cage for a dog area too! I wouldn't enjoy taking the plexiglass off, because it was so much work to get it up there, but maybe I can think of a way to protect it so it wouldn't get scratched? Perhaps a piece of thin wood in front or something? 🤔 Thanks for saying hi! 💕

I understand the anxiety regarding pets. I think people underestimate the bond between humans and our pets. It's devastating when they pass. I suffer from anxiety and I have never really found a medication that works well for me. I'm happy to know you are doing good things 💙
