What I really appreciate in your reviews is that you don't shout away from talking about negatives in detail. Some reviewers tend to gush about their toys, and while that's great for hyping people up to buy a product, they also tend to overlook various issues. Personally I feel a lot more comfortable buying products when I know their shortcomings beforehand than something.
The feature that sold me on Omne was that his central section in Alt mode is thinner than the others, yet gets bigger for the bot mode, leading to more visually pleasing looks in both modes. It was a unique transformation, even if it does lead to the transformation problems you felt it had. (Yeah, mine slip from time to time as well, but all in all I really like it...)
Toyworld one is the best out of them all for me, as its Marvel comics accurate (chest plate is multi-coloured, not blue, like the toy/comic) and just looks the part. Glad he was made, as it gives everyone options.
I'm on board with your sentiment about this guy generally, but it's worth noting that the failure rate on OMNE has by all accounts been atrocious. Mine was broken in two places right out of the box. People on TFW are regularly reporting cracked knuckles, cracked forearm panels and broken waists. Those that are ordering replacements are finding their new figures have the same problems. If the feedback on that forum is indicative of his true failure rate, then somewhere between half and 2/3rds of the OMNE buyers are receiving broken figures.
None of the 3P Cosmoses have really seemed that interesting to me. This has got to be the coolest since Hasbro's Legends figure, which was good enough to be released twice. As someone who doesn't care for scale and doesn't mind the potentially finnicky bits I'm gonna love picking one up in the new year. That aside, what's your opinion on POTP? Personally, I'm bloody bored by the whole thing. Have your thoughts changed since that Toy Fair update? Have Grimlock and Starscream made them objectively worse?
Best Cosmos masterpiece scale that I've ever seen. There's still something off about the vehicle mode. There's a lack of edge around the base. The image of G1 Cosmos shows that edge on his 'toes'. But the tower of his UFO mode is nearly spot on size wise. The attempts at Cosmos by other companies have huge, bulbous towers; the center of gravity in the UFO should be smack dab in the middle of the craft, not in the upper hull. I went searching for all the Cosmos' in MP scale late last year & didn't find this one, yet this video is 2 years old. Not even on their release schedule but I'd be down to see what Fans Toys would come up with.
He doesn't look bad really, there has been some noise about breakages on him tho, even out of the box. Klaatu is the best (I'm still shocked) but i still have the TW one as a desk bot, and at that he really excels.
This is the version i bought and am very happy with the quality and posability. XT looks more toon accurate but I couldn't resist the tiny Blaster and Bumblebee :D
After seeing all 3, I think that XTB is ultimately the best. I do like the head of this one and how clean the arms are, but XTB still to me is the best overall. How weird is that to say, am I right? Hopefully we can say that again one day. That Siri is such an unhelpful gal, in my experiences. Alexa is not much better, either. She is rather cheeky. I was playing something on my PS4 one day and ate it, yelled out "Game over, man, game over!" And Alexa, cool as a cucumber, said "Stop your grinnin' and drop your linen." Solid review, Bobby.
I think X Transbots wins the Cosmos contest. I do like Toyworld's clear version, but Klaatu is the best of the three (four if you count IGear's older take on the character) to date.
I still love Space Racer the best of all of them. The accessories are better with Klaatu (and I do have to admit, I love seeing the little Blaster and Bumblebee in the window of this guy), but to me Space Racer is still the best overall figure on it's own.
I'm not a fan of the permanently visible altmode windows showing Blaster and Bumblebee. To me, that's essentially a "that one time in that one episode" accessory that you can't switch out, like if MP Grapple's right hand was permanently molded holding that solar tower model. To be fair, the main reason it bugs me so much is because I otherwise think Omne has the best UFO mode of the three, making those windows really stick out like a sore thumb. I'd say I like the figure's robot mode shape the best, too, though Klaatu's green would have been better.
OK the 1st sign that the end of the world is coming Bobby Skullface said that an x-transbot figure is the best figure out when there or other options out. Jk man I feel the same way as you about X-transbots and I want there cosmos. Good review and thanks for being honest keep up the good work.
3:45 in, small correction. The toyworld one does come with a display stand. It's one of those yellow/orange Ark style baseplates. I'll watch the rest now ;)
Great review Skull Brother!!! I really had high hopes for this one. All well at least I waited and didn't order it. I do have and enjoy the clear version of the TOY World figure. Even if it is technically the worst lol.
I own this and it honestly doesn’t hold up Well. Have had to tighten quite a bit. Arms are very loose and it’s getting floppy. Klatuu is still great and Toyworld I just don’t take out of box.
Hmm yep kinda like the Xtransbots better also, not by much honestly but the accessories and the color are nicer on the Xtrans. Also the Xtrans is a few bucks cheaper winner winner. Still this is a nice fig.
So....haven't messed with this figure in a good while, but the waist on mine just came completely undone...does it just stay in with friction? I don't get it. Horribly engineered figure in my opinion.
Definitely should have mentioned the breakages. Obviously you didn't experience them yourself but they're starting to rack up in number. Just knowing that it has broken on so many people would instantly make it hard for me to ever recommend, even if it didn't break on me personally.
Lol, switch siri to a british man and see what happens. XD I think I like the Xtransbots better surprisingly. o-o It just seems to look a little better.
stop picking on poor spaceracer. hes a sensitive lil fella and he cant help how he was made *hugs his spaceracer* its ok. daddy still loves you. pay no attention to the mean old man :p
I'm burned I bought a vanilla ToyWorld version, when a clear version would have been a better choice (if you're buying multiple Cosmos like me). I kind of wish you didn't mention the gold on the ToyWorld version, because now I can't UNSEE it! lol But that said, great review here! I still like this guy... and I like the Klaatu version for other reasons (he's like the chunky, TF fan representation in TFs! lol Seriously, how do we not see more chunky fans in Cosmos cosplay?!?). Did you emphasize the cock landing strut at all? I might have missed that part. You've got to credit MMC for that - only this version has a deploy-able strut... at his crotch. XD
Bobby Skullface L Honestly? It's EXACTLY the kind of conversation you'd have with your Seaspray gossip group! Lol Seaspray's sea smut and Cosmos's deployable action!
Talking about women that don't want to help, there's this lady at the post office I swear hates my guts. She smiles and is super nice to everyone until it's my turn in line, then she acts impatient and speaks super fast, which causes me to ask her to repeat herself, then she starts sighing and rolling her eyes and even on an occasion, she has stepped away flustered and asked another clerk to help me instead. Needless to say, I stopped going to that one, but it's the closest to my house so it sucks! Cool review as always and I'm glad I went XTB in this instance.
