This game was so dope. It has big time voice actors, including the original voice of Optimus, more of a focus on the transformers themselves, and (my favorite) a bigger part for Jazz. In the movie my homie had three lines then got ripped in half.

I think it's awesome how at the beginning of either game, both protagonists meet up in a fight to the death, the game you pick decides which way the battle will go. pretty awesome story element there!

has anyone noticed that at 3:10, on the autobot version the autobot says said line of "Michael" and "Unknown" says said line. In decepticon version, "Michael" says said line of the decepticon and "Unknown" says said line of what the protagonist would say in the autobot version. This is both happening at the same scene. I like to think of it as a splintered timeline. In autobot version, it depicts what would happen if the autobot won the battle against the decepticon version protagonist, and in the decepticon version it's vice versa. I think that's a pretty cool touch.

You, your main rival Bumblebee and any other transformers can never compere to relish the conflict between the leaders as many times bested each other but always keep rising as optimus prime with the Matrix and Megatron with the Dark spark.
The way I see it Deceipticons is like a cliffhanger and the Autobots is the true ending. What I mean is that Bumblebee, Ironhide, and Optimus weren’t killed but played dead and waited for Megatron and Starscream to kill each other and after Megatron kills the rookie flying away, an Autobot finds the all spark and brings it to Bumblebee and the rest is filled in by the last two missions of Autobots.
Ahhh nostalgia, the good old days of "I'm a tank your a truck, how do you expect to beat me?" Man I thought that mission was impossible, felt great after beating it.
The same thing happened to me! I was trying for weeks to pass it and one night while I was speaking with a friend through Skype I realized that I didn't try to attack him with a tank as a weapon. XD Ahhh you are so right about the good old days!

He later gets Bumblebee captured in an attempt to show the others that he's not just a side drone, but leads the humans to capture Bumblebee accidentally. Once freeing him, and obeying the orders he's given, he knew he didn't stand a chance against Megatron. But with the mentoring from the Autobots, he stood up to him, and allowed a chance for Prime to defeat Megatron. At that moment he realised this what it means to be an Autobot, and he gave his life willingly to save Optimus, the Autobots, and Earth. He truly became, an Autobot.
Dude, these games, both Autobots and Decepticons were my life as a child. Looking back at it now, I can see that this game was totally underrated. The gameplay, story, lines, and even the voice acting (The best part, that included the original VAs from G1, including Frank Welker as Megatron [Yes that was him.]), all together, made this one of, if not the best Transformers games ever made, that easily is up there with others such as F.o.C, or W.f.C.

I've played both versions as a kid I cant believe how good the story and voice actor were for the ds versions it's funny and embarrassing that a low budget game can have a better story then the series it's based on
It's a damn shame that a Nintendo DS game, with a much lower budget then a Hollywood movie, is much better then the actual movie. For both versions, it gives each character their own unique personality, the games focus on the robots rather then the humans, the games have a better story, the voice actors do an awesome job bringing these characters to life, etc. These games are a much better experience then the movie they're tied to. These games are very underrated, and get out shined by games like WFC, FOC, and Devastation. They're no masterpieces, but they're very good. There are problems with this game however, like the fact that the locations in these games are very barren. Glitches that actually prevent you from getting 100%, and the missions are very basic, and is kinda difficult to get a gold medal. The Autobots version is much better considering it has a better story, it has a better ending, and the missions are more fun then the deceptions version. Overall these games are fun!
I have to agree with you, but the decepticons version is also fun. This games along with Spartan: Total Warrior are my favourite games! And I don't give a shit about the new games like Far Cry, Uncharted 4 or Assassin's Creed the new game. For me the old games are so much better then the new that I can't even compare them, but that is only MY opinion. I'm glad to know what is your opinion as well!
+Shockwave Prime back in 2007 when I first got it for ds I played it so much just so I can unlock megatron. And o gotta say that twist ending made me upset.
Personally, I found the Decepticons version to be better because it didn't simply retell the story like the Autobots one with an extra character. It went into more depth about the element of trust and betrayal. The story itself just felt more believable. Both games had your character trying to prove himself but the Decepticons version just did it in a less cheesy way. Take 22:00 for example. That just didn't make sense.
The games are real better, lots of games always focuse more on the characters instead of other things. Like this game its all about the Autobots and Decepticons and about their true goal here on our planet, once they had arrive of course.
I love these games yet I've beat Transformers Autobots instead of Decepticons, yet I've had Decepticons longer and Autobots have more levels. I am really sad that this is pretty much the only free roaming GTA style game, it's Trans Theft Autobot
i loved the Concept of Scanning Vehicle's in this game but They didn't implement this later Games including the Pc Ports i wish they make a new transformers game with this Idea
My strategy always was to turn into vehicle form as soon as the battle begins and move around Brawl, shooting him whenever the chance came, and when my life was low, I would destroy random obstacles in the way to recover HP. The second phase wasn't so hard, but it takes a little time to find out that you need to pick up his minion tanks and bash them on him XD.
I wish I had the Autobots version. I only had the Decepticons version and I played hell out of it when I was a kid. I lost it though and I can't find it anywhere in my house
The Engie That Cried Nope I am sorry for your lose, I'd hate to lose such a great game. I personally had both growing up, me the autobots version, and my brother the decepticons. Both were great games.
Hell yea dude thats why this game is my favorite, its like the only one that lets you really feel like a transformer with the freedom to do what you want and change appearance as the story goes on, they need to make a game like this today
Being one of my favourite games, I'm relieved to have come across this video. However, If there's one critique I have, must I say that I was somewhat disappointed that Bumblebee didn't scan his '06 Camaro Concept at some point during the story (and perhaps given him more adequate stats). Bumblebee I found was fairly underpowered in this game particularly.
I agree, seeing bee in his new mode would have been awesome. And as for stats, bee was DEFINITELY underpowered in this game. Things like speed, agility, handling, acceleration, and energy should be better than any other Autobot (Prime, Jazz Ratchet, Ironhide). He also should've had little more strength than both Jazz and Ratchet. Before when the game was in development, canon boys were meant to be upgraded every time you levelled up (like your create a bot does). But it never happened. If I remember, Optimus had max strength and endurance.
I've finally been able to complete my childhood game to some extent since my version ended up sliding underneath the wall and my DS fried in a flood, so I really appreciate this video.
I played both versions and I've gotta say I loved every second of it the characters were accurate I loved the combat system the story was amazing the voice acting was great

Man, I miss this game. I enjoyed both the Autobots and Decepticon versions of this game so much. Great missions, voice acting, story telling, soundtracks, hell even free roam was fun.
I know this is like 7 years late but I liked the story line but, first bumblebee never got his second veicle form,also jazz's death was never in the autobots version, (but died from Megatron in the decepticon version which was like the movie, additionally the game is so much better than the movie in my opinion,

Gosh. I remember when I first played this game over 13-14 years ago lol. I remember the hardest missions in this game included bumblebee fighting barricade in the beginning, clearing out sector 7 before the autobots arrived, optimus fighting brawl (before I figured out you had to smash the tanks over him), and defeating megatron. In the decepticon version, defeating jazz as megatron was the hardest because he kept jumping around.
As A Kid I always wondered how the Autobot game played out as I had the Decepticon game. RU-vid is an amazing thing. Thats what I hate about these Brother and Sister games. I always find myself wishing I had the other game instead.
i played this when i was four and it was such a good game and i complete it easily but i lost my ds and games and i recently downloaded it on an emulator but i still get suh nostalgia playing it
