Transformers: Cyberverse - Shockwave Appearances [Season 3] 

Yeah. I really liked how Cyberverse handled Shockwave with the exception of his death. Even with his most loyal incarnations, I can never see Shockwave doing something like this. He would have predicted exactly what Cheetor ended up doing and come up with another plan. Soundwave would absolutely have done this, with his blind loyalty to the Decepticon cause outweighing even his own will to live, but not Shockwave. Shockwave would have mind gamed the fuck out of them, or come up with some gadget of go fuck yourself.

@@Mothbean thats where i theorize that Shockwave doesn't really intent to follow Megatron's orders if he ever finish his thing, Shockwave might ended up actually corrupting the Allspark and control it by himself, Which is a more logical opportunity with Megatron even permitted him to do his plan, only for Megs to realize that Shockwave had a better plan than to destroy the very life of Cybertron

It's been six months and I don't have a problem with Shockwave's death anymore. I wondered at first why they didn't just have some no-name seeker do the spark extraction, but after another massive Shockwave fan told me that they interpreted it as Shockwave being the only one whose spark was fucked up enough to do this completely changed my mind. Shockwave had clearly fallen far from who he once was by this point, but I adore the idea that he had become so irredeemably evil that his spark was able to *corrupt the afterlife.* Shockwave likely *did* predict Cheetor would try to stop the destruction of the Allspark, but considering the Decepticons had very little information on him, I don't think he expected Cheetor to be able to overpower his spark. I also like how the scene implies Cheetor is the polar opposite of Shockwave. Shockwave was completely corrupt and devoid of emotion while Cheetor was completely pure and good-natured, showing one last time how worthy he was of being the Allspark's guardian. I think it also adds so much to Cheetor's character that he was so excited to live on Cybertron, but decided to give his life to ensure that his friends who knew it as their home would be able to see it survive instead. So yeah, Cyberverse truly is peak fiction.

To show the final prove that there was indeed nothing left of Shockwave before the war - a guy, who liked dancing robots and friendly high fives with Wheeljack and Bumblebee. Only left was this Shockwave - an unfeeling maniac, who would even sacrifice his own spark, full of darkness, to destroy his entire species out of spite. Besides Shockwave's death was the first step towards the path of redemption for Decepticons - he was the most unwilling for a peace with Autobots and would turn on Megatron or everyone else if they were going according to him "soft". Alongside Starscream and Megatron-before-Quintessons he was perhaps the most corruptive factor within the faction.

He died with spite, that is the point. The war broke him, reduced him to an empty shell who endlessly pursues his goals no matter the cost, someone who only makes progress for the sake of progress.

It's an illusion.
