Oh snap! Snapdragon is back! -Yes after the G1 toy era so many years ago, Snapdragon and Knunk returns for the WFC trilogy in Earthrise. Their molded/sculpted details and paint job for both of them are awesome. Side by side with Siege Apeface and Spasma, and the latest incarnations of the headmaster triple charger Horrorcons are complete.
Got Snapdragon about a month ago now and he just hasn't left my desk! I transform him every couple of days and the transformation is fun, I love the dragon mode as it's just super fun! Even if it is the worst mode, that's only because the jet is super clean and slick and the robot is nigh on perfect! He's a voyager. He's a headmaster. He's a triple changer as is the head. He's a 10 for me! Great review Chef
Excellent review and im very liked minded about this one. Especially about the flack others give it. I love all his modes and its an excellent update to his old g1 self.
This figure is gorgeous!!! I actually like this figure a lot, I agree with you chef! This is an awesome figure, in between the two I think snapdragon is superior than apeface, defiantly a must have haha!
The Horrorcons are definitely gonna be a part of one of my weekly photoregisters. The CHUG Decepticon army has never looked so good, can't wait for the Coneheads!
I just got this bad boy in today, havin' ordered it from Walmart. The most impressive thing to me is the paint on the visor. It looks like it's paint behind a clear part. It probably ain't, but it sure looks like it, and sure looks great. Trips me out how *LIGHT* he is, though!! Even the Earthrise Optimus mold feels a little bit heavier...and he's definitely a lightweight. And I can totally imagine a *proper* G2 Grimlock repaint of this - whether it's the G1 or G2 color scheme is irrelevant, Grimlock as a Headmaster Triple Changer is a cool idea. 😏😏😏
I got my apeface weaponized with brunt in bot mode. Turned out very nicely. And I think apeface's jet mode could've done without the beige paint on the cockpit part.
Eggshellent review, as always! I picked him up today for $17.00 at Walmart ($3 off is still $3 saved!). I was skeptical, didn’t have him as a kid, no nostalgic connection (that’s what keeping receipts is for), but honestly love all forms. Robot mode is a big, hunky brawler with solid torso and limbs, nice head sculpt, Jet mode is nicely done (to me, cooler than Apeface’s by a mile), and don’t tell my Trypticon, but his Dino mode pretty darn decent! He’s obviously no Trypticon, but all considered, a great Triple Changer! (Tip- unless I missed ya mention it) For plugging his headmaster into his Dino-head, I found it WAY EASIER to rotate the Headmaster head 180: clicked in like a dream! I wonder if anyone’s made a Pink Flamingo out of Sky-Lynx’s bird form yet?
Must ask where you got the Galvatron? Is he the ‘86 Movie Studio Series? (I can’t tell you how happy I was to read yesterday that Paramount(?) *Does NOT want* BAY involved in any more TF movies or projects! They finally booted the idiot out! IMHO, the best thing Transformers could possibly do is a hard-reboot, set in 1984! It’s a crying shame that 1-2 generations of kids have grown up believing the Michael Bay versions of TF were actual Transformers... 👍
Snap dragon is better no scuffing, better white/grey color. His jet mode is much nicer and his transformation is better. I love them both together and they look good side by side with scorponok and the other head masters.
His dinodragon mode doesn't bother me in person. Also if you leave the headmaster hands down at his side. The dragon mouth looks a bit better. I only wish the dragon eyes we painted.. bte thanks for the review!!

That jet/spaceship reminds me of old cartoon - Starcom :D. Well, this one was my "must-have" since I got my hands on Apeface (it wasn't carved in stone as retailers seemed to skip on final waves of Siege) so no change here. I'd buy him even if he was pile of garbage (which he's fortunately not) just to have both Horrorcons. I wonder if Hasbro has plans to complete the set of all 6 classic triple changers within WfC Trilogy - time is running out and it seems Kingdom might mainly focus on BW characters rather than G1... I'd love to see new Blitzwing/Octane/Sandstorm which would scale properly with WfC voyagers (I don't really care about Broadside, I know, he's Wrecker, so he'd be nice addition, but...). Once/if you get ER Bumblebee please see if he can swap "shield" part with Cliffjumper in vehicle mode :).

@chefatron Thanks, though I have Snapdragon sort of pre-ordered so probably I'll get mine sooner or later :). Unless that online store where I have placed pre-order will bankrupt or sky falls on our heads (poor Asterix joke here). I didn't know about that repack, if it's true, it would give second chance to get Apeface for those who were less lucky than I was (you may remember my Apeface purchase was pure fluke :D), which is nice thing. Though so numerous repacks (Astrotrain, Smashdown, Micromaster Battle Squad, Rung, even Siege Skywarp which gets re-released as Takara Mall Exclusive) are are a bit suspicious. I'm glad that Bluestreak will be regular release this time (judging by the box), I may be lucky enough to get all Datsun Autobots this time (I even put a pre-orser at Amazon for that Prowl/Ironhide set (which is the thing I normally don't do - shipping costs and customs fees make purchases beyond $20 very not cost-effective), they don't charge in advance for pre-orders, so I may cancel it if anything goes wrong).
Sold. Kinda pricy now but going to get them for Christmas. Never watch them in the cartoons though. Always been TF S1/S2 when I was a kid. I just want fresh take transformers. Really bored on the standard Optimus Prime or other S1/S2 characters now that I'm older.
wow! I hope you get them soon! yeah, I don't really recall seeing these triple changers in the cartoons, but I do remember the toys and I wanted them so badly, but I couldn't get them...
@chefatron i think season 3 was not aired that time when I was a kid. It's always reruns of S1 and random episodes of 1 and 2. We rarely went to the toy stores when I was a kid. Hardly remember what transformers are there, but Grimlock is what I got when I was a kid. My brother was Snarl.
@chefatron sadly not. My mom gave away our toys to our younger cousins in the province by mistake. It got mixed up. That's the reason why me and my brothers are collectors now.
