Asides from not having eight legs like a proper arachnid actually should, I am pretty darn excited for this guy. And I too hope we see a bunch of snazzy repaints from this mold, like the red and blue variants.
To be fair it's really an alien creature that's just scorpionlike, so it having different number of legs and different style of claws isn't too breaking.
If you go back and watch the initial trailer for RotB they actually used the 2007 Scorponok sound for that trailer when these appeared. Blew my mind when they did.
That is a very distinct way they did the arms, with them folding up and using the hands to make the claws look bulkier without having to try and finaggle big pinchers between the molds. Personally I would consider the weaponizer version and it's mini scorpion drones, and then this version is a lead unit for larger squads. Much like the Vehicons and Energon Terrorcons had the alternate 'command' units.
Colors are a little too vibrant for an insectile SS release but other than that turned out pretty great at this scale. I like how he retains the same head in both modes similar to the 2007 release.
There is the moment when Unicron tortures Scourge, he says, "or you'll wish you had died with the rest of your planet!" I wonder if Scorponoks were the part of Scourge's people or maybe just stumbled upon a planet where Predacons lived on and Unicron decided to spare the Scorponoks to later use them as part of his army. I think the second option makes more sense because in the opening scene, we only saw Maximals on the planet and no Predacons, and Scourge already wore many of the Predacon symbols on him.
Scorponok might be a smaller Deluxe, but by transforming his torso and legs halfway, you can actually give him this super gangly mutant form which is a good bit taller.
Wooooooohoooo new pvp videoooop lets goooo!!!! Eyyyy up from Yorkshire! Really love scorponok, Studio series is on fire rn and really looking forward to the next movie toys! I mean imagine what these lads at Hasbro could do with a new Studio Series Optimus that improves on SS102
I really want to see Scorponok transform into robot mode at least one of them because this robot mode concept art design look so menacing and intimidating. His scorpion 🦂 mode look so fantastic, pretty much movie accurate in Transformers Rise of the Beasts. Awesome video, PrimevsPrime, transform and ROLL OUT 🤗!
@@jamesralt2606 we have the concept line, megatron and rumble opened the door for studio series waves to almost double each year (double the amount of figures, not 8 waves a year)
This Scorponok truly is the perfect army builder, his robot mode could be used as if he were those more larger Freezer/Novakane sweeps seen in the final battle of ROTB
wow thats so cool to finially have army builders in ss, and both modes are [retty good, I hope you make a video on th edk 46 and 49 for scourge looking forward to those upgrade kits, love your vids!
If it helps my head canon is this scorpnarok is a general of sorts capable of both speaech but also transformation like the alicons from the 80s cartoon
This thing needs to be repainted into Go Bots Renegade Scorp!!! Maybe they can retool the bug legs off the figure and retool the bot legs with tank tread feet. I think this would work great for an updated Scorp.
The existence of SS Bumblebee Megatron and ROTB Scorpnok is good news for Transit (I hope). Edit: this may be too much to ask for, but I’m also hoping we get a new TF: Prime Predaking mould…
I tip my metaphorical hat to the designers of this figure. When I saw pictures of it at first, I was worried that it will be the sort of figure where you will have to detach and reattach some of the limbs for the transformation, because the beast mode's claws are the robot mode's shoulders. However, the designer managed to surprise me for the best with how the beast mode's arms were compressed inside the robot mode's chest. It's such a simple yet genius design choice, and I really like it!😊.
This figure actually blew my expectations away! I can’t remember if they mentioned it, but I hope they repaint this figure at least 2 more times for red and green. Great review as always! Any hints for when Wheeljack comes out??? 🫣
I have a theory that both maximals and predacons are from Eukaris but when unicron came some predacons fought against scourge with the maximals like different territories like mammals and main predators territories but some predacons chose to join univron like scourge did and all the scorponoks followed
This is kind of a tangent and not necessarily related to the video exactly but I was thinking about the different Scorponok characters sharing names but being different bots. Like, some people seem to lose it sometimes over Transformers sharing names and try way too hard to rationalize it but to me it's like being a guy named Jack and you meet another guy named Jack. You aren't going to look at that and think "But why do they have the same name?" right? I think it's fine if some bots have the same name but are different characters and I wonder why it isn't explored more in fiction. Like having two bots with the same name comment on it casually. Like Megatron in Beast Wars wasn't the same G1 Megatron but they have the same name. There's a reason for it in fiction but there ya go. Like a Jack meeting another Jack.
Scorpinok's beast mode is the best beast mode then the Maximals and I wish he survived and sends his location to Megatron and the predacons in the post mid credit scene.
Because the prices are way too high for these, I now limit what figures I get. I no longer get characters in a TRANSFORMERS movie that do not transform. If I see him on clearance, I would get him and repaint him into the TFTM color scheme.
I love its colours but are they movie accurate? Hard to tell with the dim lighting in a lot of contemporary action movies. I also like the integration of limbs in both modes - limbs hanging off a back are way better than limbs hanging off limbs. :)
