Ruby Rose u r correct. In fact the whole " soundwave superior, constructions inferior" was his attempt to take over the decepticons & go back to retrieve Megatron. I believe this was mentioned by one of the transformers writers.
All of these deaths were pretty traumatic for a little kid to watch. It wouldn't have been so bad if they didn't die in such horrible ways. Brawn, supposedly the strongest Autobot, was killed by one shot to either the chest or shoulder by Megatron. It's hard to tell. Prowl was killed by two shots to the chest by a Constructicon. It's understandable why Ratchet died- Multiple shots to the chest. Ironhide, one of the oldest Autobots, and one of the greatest of their warriors, gets his head blown off while he was on the ground. These deaths were not deserving for all that they were and all that they had been through. Regardless, it was still a great movie, but a little rushed to get some old characters out of the picture.
+GemBros Vlogs,Easter Eggs, and Tributes according to tfnet wiki, he was originally gonna stay alive for the rest of the movie and series but maybe his toy got short leg, that is why he is dead
I was shocked and traumatized as a kid when I saw all my loved characters dying horribly. This scene with the space ship,I will never forget it. That’s why this movie was amazing though , It’s what true war looks like, and yet they’re robots , but with feelings and we used to love and watch them for so long so this scene was purely tragic. 💔
i cry everytime this scene plays, loved ironhide, ratchet, and brawn especially, ironhide was my favorite out of everyone who died but i loved all the characters, RIP
The beginning and the scene, what happens with the survivors inside Unicron was probably the most horrible, brutal and shocking ive saw. I never watched this movie since i was 7 years old.
What I hated about that space ship scene was they all went out like punks! It made no sense. An entire season of a show where they could take some hits, and now all of a sudden one measly blast goes ripping through them. AND the Autobots couldn’t hit a single damn Decepticon even though they were mere feet away. If they wanted to do the deaths that’s one thing, but at least make them go out like heroes! Sorry, childhood trauma kicking back up!😂
@@aburnoutfailurewithsomemem3085 he was originally supposed to melt to scrap iron and brawn was supposed to get shot in the head and his body split in half
My friend's uncle used to work with Hasbro. He helped in the Transformers department and learned how a lot of the characters were meant to die. He even argued that since many aren't seen after the movie, that they should make an episode where the audience learns who died and how. The episode was not created, but they mentioned Huffer's death later. However, they made the reason for the missing people that after the battle, Decepticons were in other systems, so they left to fight them.
He threw out Thundercracker and Skywarp as a way to justify throwing out Megatron. Sacrifice a couple pawns to take out the king. And in the comics they weren't his minions, they were his brothers, shows you how cold he could really be when he wanted to be.
I agree that 'Infinity War' was great, and so was 'Endgame'. For those who don't agree I respect y'alls opinion, but don't speak for everyone when you state your opinion. And that goes for both sides.
@@betacollector9343 I liked Infinity War because they lost and people died, but Endgame kinda ruined Infinity War and made it just another movie. The people really didnt die for real in Infinity War.
Actually according to tfnet wiki, wheeljack suppose to survive for the rest of the movie and series, but was dead most possible of the short leg he had for his G1 toy (the corpse beside windcharger was originally gonna be smokescreen)
This forced a lot of members of my generation to grow up just a little bit faster and even though it's clearly just designed to clear out toy shelves it did teach the important lesson even the greatest heroes can be killed.
I loved it then and now i didnt cry when they died a little shocked but most of you guys took it too serious oys not real i wouldnt tell no girl i cried over toy robots in a cartoon
When I seen this movie, it was the first time I had watched and heard of Transformers. The deaths weren't so significant. I hadn't a clue what was going on but I loved it. Now after watching the TV show and seeing the deaths, I understand how people at the time felt. RIP all of them. On the plus side, the plot armour wasn't as thick.
when I first watched this film I was surprised at all the main characters getting killed, ironhide, starscream( I know he's a bad guy) at least they brought back optimus also WHEELJACK!! NOOOOOOOOOOO!!
I remember when I was a kid and watched this, I still like this movie better than the new ones, transformers back then had more people on both sides, even though allot of the main ones died, I hope they do a remake at some point (probly not going to.)
Also, odd how Dirge/Thrust/Ramjet have deathscenes when they're still alive in the next season. I'd like to think it was just a group of jets that took similar forms.
@@Cantthinkofanames it likely does, since Spike (the human from the first two seasons of the cartoon) is now an adult in this film, and has a son named Daniel, who would be the primary human in the movie. Most of the characters we saw from the show also reappear here as dead. By Season 3, Hot Rod is the Leader and Galvatron the enemy, just like how they were introduced in this film
Usually the answer I come up with for that is just the animators didn't want to come up with new designs for characters that had no speaking roles or new toys
These were gruesome af. The most memorable for me were Prowl’s smoldering eyes, Ironhide grabbing megatron and Prime’s withering corpse. It was really shocking since literally nobody dies in g1 until this point. Yet another proof that money is more important to these child show maker than the children themselves: they will literally give you ptsd if they get to promote their new toys
Not only disturbed, but insulted that such tough autobots like brawn, ironhide were taken out so easily. They were the toughest autobots in the series. Not to mention skywarp and thundercracker were my favorite decepticons! I'm glad they were in the recent video game war for cybertron it was a good experience!
When I was like 6 I saw this movie at Blockbusters and rented the movie......5 minutes in and I was already done. I didn't want to watch it anymore after I saw Optimus die
I get the joke however here is some context for those who don't get it: Transformers initially started as imports of the Japanese Diaclone and Microchange toylines (Microchange being where Megatron and Soundwave came from). The vehicle transformers were from Diaclone where they were originally mechs with pilots. Instead of having a head the Diaclone toys that would become Rachet and Ironhide had a seat behind the windshield where the pilot would sit.
Imagine knowing these characters for 2 years, just to see your favorites picked off one by one. Basically equal to modern day infinity war except there ain’t no coming back.
This is why I didn't really enjoy this movie. The show was very innocent and corny. And for them to change the mood of the series for this finale was honestly heartbreaking. Seeing so many characters that many grew up with both good and bad just get slaughtered was painful. And Optimus's death was the icing on the cake. His death just made me not really get attached to any of the characters. Because I knew so many of them were going to die. The contrast between the movie and the show is obvious and in my opinion, it's not a very good contrast. After seeing something so child-friendly like g1 transformers, watching the movie wasn't a pleasant experience. It's like a war movie. Everything is just so dead that I just can't enjoy it. Call me a wuss, but that's how I feel.
Nox Xelor your not suppose to like it that's why it's so great it leaves you more on edge if another autobot dies it keeps you really invested nobody wanted any of the characters to die espically Optimus and that why this movies has never been forgotten it leaves an impact on you while good or bad it still leaves an impact which makes this a great movie of course the show was corny and light hearted parents were strict and even complained about megatron turning into a gun but this movie has balls it gave megatron a more ruthless nature which fits with him makes him more threatening as he leads the decepticons to victory and anybody who opposes will be killed but I will agree killing Optimus was bullshit I never really liked hot rod that much he was the main reason he died so really bad choice but galvatron wouldn't have been born
@@CrossSwordsguy Sideswipe was supposed to die according to the script, along with Trailbreaker and maybe a couple others. However, their deaths never made it into the movie.
For those who didnt know, Dirge, Thrust and Ramjet where those "conehead" looking decepticons that turned into planes. Such as the red one that got hit by Optimus Prime in his vehicle mode in this movie, and another that was at Starscreams coronation (he was the first to spot Galvatrons arrival)
@@bliksemridder7936 I think I remember hearing a theory a few years ago that Wheeljack created a time machine(or was it a universe travel machine?) and ended up in season 3 for a few episodes before coming back to his timeline and either forgetting everything that happened during his adventure(more or less men in black style) or no one informed him in fear of destroying the timeline
@@CT--wq2ly victory was an alternate universe so this wheeljack.died and let's say the wheeljack.in zone was repaired But wheeljack.in this continuity came back as an action master later
Thank you. I was wondering how some of them died. That explains why those characters weren't in season 3. side note, I also noticed most of the original survivors also didn't get big parts in the last season.
Except a few of them were in Season 3; namely the Coneheads and the Insecticons. Heck, the Insecticons are still alive in THIS movie. And yeah, Starscream and Optimus are also in Season 3... but they're special cases.
Don't forget sum of the deleted scenes from the movie that shows a lot more died like huffer, blue streak, smoke screen, trail breaker, tracks, red alert, sideswipe, and many more, in season 3 dark awakening you see a long row of suppose to be coffins as Daniel names off a few of the names huffer actually being mentioned but his death isn't really shown.
Now, the thoughts of the deaths in the "Five Nights in the Auto-Con Factory" games that I randomly envisioned for some odd reason Catie Bowman: *dies heroically like Optimus Prime but at the age of 15 years old* Optimus Sun Aria Prime: *dies in a suicide way at the age of 15 years old from overdosing on dark Energon* Peter Cullen: *suffers a deadly injury after returning back to his original body with no Animatronic limbs or anything like that* Optherine Primeman: *dies at the age of 80 years old after getting assassinated by a failure* Megan Nightson Tronic: *randomly gets into a fight with a kid who has a gun and was planning to shoot his bully to death at school but had decided to shoot Megan Nightson Tronic while he was only 25 years old* Starry Lanternfly Screamer: *dies of the injuries from when he was corrupted and got into a fight with Megan Nightson Tronic and lost that fight and got seriously injured and he was 18 years old and so on* Megatron and Me: *die after getting into a crash at the same time as Optimus Prime*
Not a fan of the series myself, so as an outsider it's funny to me how traumatized people were over characters dying when, you know, they were literally waging a war.
I remember hating Hot Rod as a kid because he basically got Optimus killed. Being older now I don't hate him but I still get upset. Seeing Wheeljack dead was hurtful as a kid. He was basically my favourite character. But watching this movie today makes me laugh because somehow Cliffjumper survives the whole thing.
Sad thing is, the movie story-boarded many more Autobot deaths but never animated them: Mirage, Trailbreaker and Red Alert were supposedly offed in the original version during the Autobot City battle.
when i say die, it is ment to mean the death of the caracterr though megatron turns into galvatron. he is no longer megatron, so in the context he is dead, same for the insecticons, skywarp and thundercracker
The deaths that hit me hardest were the Minibots; they were always my favorites. At least Bee and Cliffjumper survived, though my favorites were Huffer and Brawn :(
Well, he wasn't on the official list of Minibots and we can't really trust the size proportions we saw in the show. Sometimes he was as tall as Bee and sometimes he was taller than Prowl!
Bro… I watch this video so many time back in the day, it introduced me to this song, and game me nightmares of Prowls death… what nostalgia, I can’t believe it’s still here…
Look closely at the secne with Wheeljack and Windcharger Its a split second but you can also see Tracks lying dead next to the cannon. Also Gears was still on the moon base when it was eaten and never reappeared. And late into the battle of autobot city you can see two distant shadows die most likely Trailbreaker and Hoist since they appeared helping Kup earlier. In reality a lot of charecters died here but never got noticed
You can see the seekers and Insecticons at the coronation because in one of the early drafts they all made it to Cybertron intact but damaged, they were going to add Megatron to a hall of heroes (same place the coronation is held) when a battle broke out over leadership, Megatrons 'lifespark' aka his spark core left his decimated body and joined those of other historic Decepticons whose memorials were being trashed in the fight, they were snared by Unicron who recreated them as Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge who had clone armies. If you look closely at the statues they bear a little resemblance to those new Decepticons suggesting they were upgraded like Galvatron.
It's actually quite weird because even though they "killed" so many of these guys, they actually appeared in the following episodes of Transformers. Strictly speaking only the Dinobots, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper and Jazz survived from season one from the Autobots, and the Constructicons and Soundwave survived from the Decepticons. Optimus Prime and Star Scream came back to life in future episodes. Bumblebee was "damaged" and changed to Goldbug later on (new toy), while Soundwave simply produced "more" cassettes, also as Blaster hadn't long come out they didn't want to ruin his competition. The Dinobots obviously being kept for potential additions to their team or new opponents, as well as being among their best selling toys. Soundwave had a fantastic run, but was eventually superseded by the Cd player and was sold off by Galvatron in a car boot sale.
Starscream were brought back by the reactivated Unicron only to be "killed" again by an enraged Galvatron. Optimus Prime were rebuild by a Quintison during the space plauge.
For some reason I always liked how they show the life slowly exit through Prowls optics, while he's vomiting smoke. Idk it just shows so much detail although I do feel bad for him and every other autobot who died
I remember watching this with my dad a few years ago. He became so angry, he punched a hole in the wall, and almost went after me for laughing when one of the robots got shot. He yelled at my mom when she said "stupid cartoon" or something like that. He then threw the TV against the wall, and went into the bedroom and tried to shoot himself before the police came.
The 80s I never lived in them but damn were they a different bloody time, spend 2 years building up a franchise then create a movie and systematically kill off a good 90% of that original cast. Also I found it funny that the constant errors of the 80s show meant that about 5-10% of the killed characters actually returned in the series like nothing happened to them
Whoever did this video, did a good job. I remember seeing this vid around maybe 2011-2014 when I was in 1st or 4th grade. Came to revisit, as cool as I remember this vid being, but now kinda sad that Prowl died cuz he is my fav and kinda salty that they killed the autobot whose faces is used as the autobot insignia whereas Soundwave the face of the Decepticon insignia, not only was kept alive but after the movie, killed Blaster, his autobot counterpart, and was brought back after being killed by Blaster.
It's interesting since in the show basically nobody gets killed and there are lasers and missiles going off everywhere, but suddenly, in the movie, anyone gets killed by a few blaster shots.
In the original script for the movie nearly all of the Autobots from the season one tv series were supposed to be wiped out by charging into Decepticon fire during the city battle, however they never made the scene. Basically in season 3 all the Transformers episodes were about selling new toys so they were not going to use any of the original season 1 characters anymore where possible, unless they were scene fillers. Like Scourge has his sweeps, Cyclonus was supposed to have mini versions on him which is why is has an "armada" in his regeneration scene, however the idea was abandoned shortly after the movie scene was created.
Well, that makes sense. It also is proof as to why characters that did survive, such as Jazz,we're not given a whole lot of screen time. It also is probably the reason they changed Bumblebee into Goldbug....
Ramjet, Thrust and Dirge appear to be killed, but they apparently survived. All characters appear in Season 3 including "The Five Faces of Darkness" and "Ghost in the Machine". Also, Shockwave's demise was cut from the final edit of the film. He did indeed perish.
Fun fact:old character form season 1-2 are sopposed to die now that they are old and they need to replace with new ones when you see optimus and wheel Jack die it’s a pain.and also this movie ruins all your childhood
THE_SAILSIEST technically there not dead like bombshell turned into cyclonus and I think skyward turned into scourge everyone except starscream got a new identity and new look starscream still lives but just as a ghost

Sheesh, that's one too many deaths of some (if not all) of the best characters!! With me being born in 84, I missed a lot of the episodes, and just caught the movie months ago. Catching up with the series, I can imagine that hardly anyone liked Rod-Prime, especially after that heart breaking death of Optimus!
They turned the "one shall stand, one shall fall" into a throw away line. I was hoping for a replay of the full exchange from the animated movie. But no, Michael Bay decided a throw away line was better.
I saw this movie in theaters as a kid and when Starscream died I remember his legs from knee joint down remaining and toppled over causing Galvatron to say “would anyone else care to fill his shoes?” It’s not show in any of the video releases I’ve seen, but I know it happened. I know you see his entire body disintegrated, but in season 3 “Starscream’s Ghost” they show his legs in the Decepticon Crypt.
