Yeah it pissed everyone off when they killed off all the Autobots everybody loved, just so they could introduce a new toy line. My mom was even upset over Prime's death.
The whole Carbombya thing is where I remember seeing the jets. I remember two of the seekers being there and they spoke too. Some British-speaking autobot found them with his little device. They should have been dead though now looking back at your clip.
Its sad to know that the transformers cartoons were designed to just sell toys. They had no idea of the impact that would be caused with the brutality they displayed. But it made it one of the best animated cartoons of all time.
My older brothers loved transformers but I was a baby in the 80's so I never became a fan... but I'm sure I would have been because everyone loves giant robots!
Even after all this time, this AMV is still damn good! I would not change a single thing. The music and clips are aligned perfectly. I'm sure we could argue about every character death/rebirth for this entire video but I'd leave it be. Most of the inconsistencies are due to the writers who did not place enough care and consideration into this great franchise.
As a kid it annoyed me how the Autobot's with the exception of Optimus Prime lacked, erm, shooting skills, could not hit the side of a barn door as they say. Nice vid
If you look at the storyboards, which you can find either on the dvd version of the movie or somewhere here on the internet, it is supposed to show both a constructicon and thundercracker holding Insecticons.
Huffer is seen outside helping Kup make a roadblock when Hotrod races thru. He Probably got stuck outside the base during the decepticon invasion and was shot down by attacking decepticons.
I remember reading that the reason behind Starscream being written out had something to do with his voice actor continually getting into trouble of some kind or another.
I think they made a point in the third season to show which autobots had survived by giving them cameos. The list being Jazz, Bumblebee, Cliffjumper, Perceptor, Blaster, Beachcomber, Seaspray, Powerglide, Warpath, Cosmos, Omega Supreme and of course the Dinobots. Just wish wombatking had managed to finish posting the storyboards
Whoever wasnt seen un season three was killed or written off. The insecticons that was later seen were clones there was so many maybe when one die another replace it since they didnt have speaking roles. Thrust dirge and ramjet survived
Yeah, the seekers may not have actually died, and Shockwave did get squished. Then again, Thundercracker and Skywarp were at Starscream's coronation. Also, the Insecticons were still around a wee bit after the movie too, although they were probably clones. I heard Trailbreaker, Smokescreen, Mirage, and Red Alert were storyboarded to die too.

I remember going to the cinema with my Dad to see this as a kid and almost crying as they got rid of Skywarp, Thundercracker and Optimus Prime in the space of 10 minutes! I think everyone lost interest in Transformers after the Movie. I only got back into it by accident when I happened to be in the childrens play area in Leeks Superstore and they had Return Of Optimus Prime on video!

It's amazing what mistakes there were in the movie. A storyboard shows THundercracker bringing a wounded Insecticon onboard Astrotrain without any effort, but after that, he is shown to be weakened and injured. WTF? The original cast was definitely the best.
you should also throw in some scenes from season 3 when they go to the autobot crypt you see a few statues of dead bots that werent shown killed in the movie.
Wrong. Dirge, Thrust, and Ramjet were not killed. Those were likely Seekers colored like them. They were still on shelves, so it would make zero sense to kill them off.
The death of junkions in that ship was sad :(. But the most saddest death i've seen in the movie was Wheeljack i just cant believe he dies. Hes my favorite.
Dirge,Thrust,and Ramjet show up in season 3. the ones Unicron ate were lookalike random decepticons,if you look at the whole skirmish alot of the decepticon jets are copies to fill in that whole battle.
Mirage was supposed to be shot at by Megatron after ambushing Bombshell. It is said that it is unclear if he was supposed to die, but it was more than likely considering the film's direction to generate new characters and a new toy line since the old figures was being discontinued.

Yep. Hasbro with its questionable decisions, animation errors, and continuity errors doing what it does. It would have been interesting to see some of these movie ideas. Even as extras.
Throughout the movie most of the known Autobots died including Trailbreaker Gears Hoist smokescreen although wheeljack Brawn and prowl Survived their deaths according to the Japanese continuity though
That subject is up for debate because in the next season, in the 5th episode of "Five Faces of Darkness", Beachcomber is alive and well. Although he does not have a speaking role, he appears for quite a bit of time. Beachcombers scene in the movie was most likely an error.

Some say Beachcomber and maybe Sideswipe fell into Unicron's acid pit.. also Sunstreaker and Hound landed on Earth with Optimus Prime, but were never seen again, so I assume they died somehow too.
in the original cartoon storyboards Shockwave is apparently seen to die when Unicron attacks Cybertron after being crushed by falling maisonary. about the Transformers being melted in the acid tanks, im fairly sure theyre generic Transformers and not characters per se, but i might be wrong.
as i remember in that episode, i believe that if you look at the mass autobot gathering(might be the wrong season 3 ep, but oh well you'll see my point) you can see ratchet,ironhide and a bunch of dead autobots there aswell, lazy hasbro
For all of those confused about which autobots die in Unicron's stomach acid check graycube out. Look up "transformers part 8 of 9" and pause around 5:15 where there is a whole assembly line of robots ready to be killed. It's impossible to distinguish the first two or four thrown in. Maybe it would'nt be a good idea to include this tommyj666the2nd if you are going to make a third version of the movie deaths.
The comic books were a seperate entity. Cos in the comic books Megatron & Galvatron were seperate entitys who were allies for a time but became deadly enemys leading to 2 Decepticon factions. Which I think would of been a great movie in it self. Dont you
I'm so glad Jazz Survived.. He still is my favourite Transformer next to Megatron, Sound wave and Lazerbeak.. But i just don't how wheel-jack dies? DUDE he was the one that brought life to the Grimlock leader dinobots. And Another thing if prime was to give leadership to any -[ OLD ]- yes G1 and G2 old Autobot.. it should of been Jazz.. Jazz should of been the Leader...it just dosn't make sence..

yeah i don't know who the acid ones are. one looks like powerglide but it ain't. as for dirge,thrust,ramjet. as far as i remember(i may be wrong) they don't have speaking parts after the movie so they may be animation/contunity errors. shockwaves death was storyborded but never animated
i forgot about that episode if on of the five faces of darkness episodes ain't it. even so i pefer to think that they were killed in the movie cus they were naff caracters anyway
So basically Transformers the animated movie was just one big ass toy commercial that mine and other 80's children's parents paid to watch. Lol Hasbro laughed all the way to the bank
They weren't. They were seen in the third season, so if I could guess, from evidence that hasbro ordered the writers to kill off all characters whose toys weren't selling anymore, and from the fact that I can't imagine Dirge, Thrust, and Ramjet's toys not selling, I'd say the writers did that to piss hasbro off, and forgot about it after they started writing third season. Writers of popular cartoons do similar things on a regular basis.

I never really noticed the death scene of all 3 seekers (if thats the right term) for Thrust, Ramjet, and Dirge. Besides don't they use them again in season 3? Shockwave sort've looked like he got crushed in his tower. A couple of TF's were eaten in Unicron's acid too.
