I didn't see anything to keep the epoxy from bonding to the toilet in the bathroom. What happens if they need to replace the toilet or service the ring/flange?
Tried to get rid of it, but Ken stood his ground. Reluctantly obeyed, it won't leak or ever be removed! Fingers crossed it doesn't see something too big to pass!!! Thanks for keeping an eye out!
What an extraordinary job, I'm not surprised by you guys, only Stonecoat Coutertops could have done it, I'm your fan and I admire you a lot, excellent job!!🎉🎉
Thank you so much for your incredibly kind comment! Your words mean the world to me, and I genuinely appreciate your support. Have you had the opportunity to work with epoxy for any of your projects yet?
I, too, loved the cartwheel! I love the idea of the floor more than the final result, though. I think it is too "busy" and will be difficult to decorate around without losing the decorations in the busy-ness. But the innovation to solve the issues of scale ? Great stuff!
Awesome comment! So glad you enjoyed the video. I've actually seen the place all set up for multiple weddings, with tables and chairs scattered across the floor. It really does a great job of breaking up the busyness.
First Cartwheel comment gets a prize! Thanks for sticking to the end of the video!!!! email me mitch@stonecoatcountertops.com - I'll send you something good!!!!
I love the work u guys do. The product seems so easy to use n leaves the surfaces FLAWLESS❣️I just can't help but wonder, how would the epoxy react to a wood surface. I wanna try it on my floors, n they're old wood.
So beautiful! Can it be poured over OSB? If so, how does it need to be prepped? I've searched and searched, but can't find anything! edit: Oh, and keeping it from being dangerously slippery is another big question! :)
1:20 I think a fast way to fill in those expansion joints would be to mix the 2 parts together. Then use a refiĺlable cualking like gun. Have one guy lay a bead in the joint & another behind him using a putty knife to press it.
We tried a bag and tried to pipe it in like icing... Fail city! We are working on a pourable fast set joint filler, I'll be testing it in the next couple of weeks. Thanks for watching
How did you get the primer coat to be that opaque?? Everytime i've done a primer coat it's translucent... So I've had to use a sherwin william primer (for epoxy) and coat the floor 3 times... but it's still paint and my spikes leave a few poke throughs you can see... The ultimate top coat is harder than the mid coat? Longer dry time as well? Critique: You didn't remove the toilets when doing the bathroom... trying to pull those toilets to replace them is going to be a huge pain... hopefully the epoxy isn't stuck too well and won't chip or peel when you pull it up. Also, many toilets have a different footprint, so a new toilet may not cover... Floor looks absolutely amazing, though!! Fantastic job!
About 20 years ago l planned to have artist design epoxy flooring . Knowing that I've always had a problem with aromas - perfumes, petrol, adhesives, oil based paints etc ; l had a small preliminary frame made. After 2 weeks of airing etc l still couldn't handle the residual smell . If you are sensitive, best to sample test as it's an expensive mistake.
Will the toilet be bonded to the epoxy and the floor? That seems like a bit of a risky move to epoxy up to it rather than remove it and reinstall it afterwards.
To enhance safety and prevent slipping on epoxy-coated floors, an anti-slip additive can be mixed into the final top coating before application or sprinkled over the surface before the top coat sets. These additives increase the traction of the finished surface, making it safer to walk on, especially when wet. We sell a clear quartz sand. The Flooring Ultimate Top Coat used is also very slip resistant naturally. Ken has had folks dancing with wet shoes because its pouring outside with no issues. I have the UTC installed over my epoxy marble in my walk in closet, it works great and I haven't slipped once even with wet feet.
I am very curious why you didn't take the toilet out first and epoxy right up to the flange. Not all toilets have the same shape at the base, so if this toilet needs to be replaced in the future ...
We should've removed it, but Ken insisted. I begrudgingly obeyed. No chance of it leaking though! Thanks for keeping an eye out, and watching the video!
Enjoyed watching this. Great job men. But, with such a large floor, surely hairline cracks will appear sooner or later? Im in the building trade. Im a Painter and decorator.
I have a 25x14 foot room wood floor over a basement it has minimal amount of flex can I pour this product over that and if so, what do I have to do to prep the area?
How much does something like this cost? I like the look and have wanted to do epoxy flooring when I build a new house, I'm looking at a 1500sq ft house and the garage will be about the same so 3000 total, but the house would be something like this while the garage would be something with a texture. If it was cheaper to do it all the same that would work
If you decide to hire a pro, the cost for the project would be around $14-19 per square foot. However, if you choose to go the DIY route with Stone Coat DIY Epoxy Flooring, the materials would only cost you approximately $5-7 per sqft. U GOT THIS!
We used tan because we went with an earth tone marble. The tan ghosted through areas of the brown dye or diamond dust sections, it complimented it. Great question and thanks for watching!
Concrete is prone to cracking, and the presence of saw cuts and wet set expansion joints directs the concrete to crack in those specific areas. Thanks for stopping by!
Should of pulled the toilets up the next plumber to work on thay place is gonna hate yall lol he may have to use a sludge hammer to get the toilet up to unclog a pipe.
