If you've ever used furniture transfers you know what an easy and beautiful Redesign you can achieve. I've started the transformation of a cupboard and finished a small chest in this video. In the second section of this video, I take you back up the hill to visit the burgeoning Slope Garden with a few quick clips of our late flower gardens.
0:00 Intro
0:27 Transfer for an antique red cupboard
7:26 Transfers on an 80 yr old chest
14:29 Revisit the slope garden
21:13 August flower garden clips

I love that! It turned out beautifully. I recently went to goodwill and bought a garden book and a garden magazine with beautiful images of insects, flowers, gardens, barns, and flower packets. I cut them all out and mod podged (in satin) them onto a small chest of drawers I had bought for five dollars. I painted it charcoal just before applying the cut outs. Then a little bit of sanding to make it look worn. The whole project cost me ten dollars! It is very fun to do.

I have been so busy in my gardens that I haven't sat down and watched you. I needed it this morning, your voice is so relaxing. We are in drought conditions, and they have initiated a schedule for watering, today is not my day. Hence why I am still sitting here this early in the morning, but I am off to putter in the garden. And transfers have been bought, I will create something. Thank you for sharing.

Almighty God bless you, immeasurably, and continue to be a shining Light for Jesus…and keep you safe and in health! Fantastic job on the transfer projects Jeri, I love both the pieces you showed. I’m looking forward to see the rest in the next video. Particularly the final touches to the red cupboard. Your garden is still in such good shape, regardless of where your focus are. You cannot be everywhere, especially having to cover such a large area. Sending hugs. Your talents are truly unending!!! What beautiful pieces that you have created! Frustrating when produce doesn’t grow as expected. This year, for me, was the plague of a group of voracious Guineas that destroyed my tomatoes! Sneaky little scoundrels.😡 Next year I will get my vengeance with fencing and maybe a squirt gun! I wear sun sleeves also. I battle with melanoma and lymphedema so sleeves are a must. Mine end at the wrist, however, I have a couple of gauntlets that I wear on one hand that really helps with the swelling. So glad that there is a company that makes them for gardeners! I love the pattern you chose! Lovely music, animals and scenery!💕🙌🏻

I have a pair of the sleeves and they are wonderful. Your garden is progressing really well. This year was the first year I was able to plant tomatoes where they would have enough sun. They grew big and put on nice size fruit. And then found something was eating them. I blamed the squirrels but no it wasn’t squirrels it was rats. Ugg. Set traps and caught two but then we went on vacation and that was the end of the tomato fruit. After they decimated the tomatoes they started on the eggplant and cucumbers. So that was the end of my garden for this year. I have all winter thinking of how to outsmart them next year.

A note about the Origano Lavender, it is also known as Fernleaf Lavender (Lavandula multifida) and it is easier to find seeds for sale under the name Fernleaf Lavender. I've also seen it called Egyptian Lavender. I love this plant! I bought it from transplants last year in the spring. It survived my horrible Texas heat when the other true Lavenders died out. (Honestly, I think I over watered the true traditional lavender, this plant tolerates more water). So I potted it and kept it inside during the winter, and it survived! In spring I brought it back out and it is still alive and blooming despite this summer's crazy heat which is worse that last summer's. It is NOT the same as traditional lavenders. I had not heard of it as Origano before, but now that you mention it, it does possibly smell a bit more like oregano than lavender. It does not bloom the same as traditional lavender either. Another name for it is Butterfly lavender since the blooms are spread further apart and are sort of airy compared to the typical long stems and denseness of traditional lavender blooms. The leaves as you've shown are totally different. If someone truly wants traditional lavender this is not the plant for them. I have never succeeded in growing traditional lavender for long--though I will continue to try. But growing the Origano or Fernleaf Lavender has been a real blessing and going forward I will try to always keep this plant growing somewhere. Everything I've read indicates it's much easier to start from seed than traditional lavender, especially since it does not need cold stratification like traditional lavender does, so I hope to gather some seed from my plant so I can try growing it that way too. ...I've been eagerly waiting for your video, and as always it was worth it. Thank you again for all your inspiring work and all you share with us. Looking at your glorious garden brings me hope. So many plants have burned up here in TX from this heat, and the horrible grasshoppers, but I'm inspired to keep trying; the weather will change and cooler days are ahead. And now I will be looking into those transfers. I have a piece I think I could use them on. God bless you always for all you give to us through your videos. Thank you!!
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow

@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow I just wanted to add, of all the garden videos I follow on YT yours is by far my favorite. I pray you never take the old ones down and that you never stop adding new ones. But I also want to let you know about another garden I love, though the owner doesn't actually post about it, another YT vlogger does. You may have already seen the videos of "Ninnies Cottage Garden" in Sweden posted by "Sara's Homestead and Flower Farm." If you haven't she has posted several in the past, though Sara has not been actively vlogging for several months. Not since she purchased a very large and vert busy greenhouse business there. Hi Jeri, I wondered how things were going for you. I love that green house! I have been inundated with Yellow Jackets and I was telling my cousin in Oregon, and she said the same thing. Have you had a problem with them? I have started already collecting seeds from the back garden and I am pleased on how it all turned out for my first time and have learned much from it. I have also invested in some very good loading and squirrel proof bird feeder’s for my mother to watch and it has proved to be worth the expense of it all, the sparrows, cardinals, and wood peckers come daily and I also got suet feeders, for the winter birds. BTW, Your roses are stunning ! God less ! …….Brian

You've done a wonderful job with the flowers this year, I've been really pleased for you! We have a wasp called the Mud Dauber, vicious little things that invade my potting area and the greenhouse in nooks and crannies; they buzz around like they own the joint and are very aggressive. Love those birds.

I love using decor transfers! I sanded down my round dining table, painted it black, and put an extra large pink peony transfer in the middle. I've got an order in for other transfers due in the mail soon. I'll be putting them on the bathroom vanity upstairs. Your slope garden is fantastic! I KNOW it's going to be even better next year! The zinnias were the top show offs in my garden this year. I love the pinks and purples! I've got a bed of orange and yellow zinnias too, but I'm not fond of orange and yellow so much. Looking forward to seeing the cupboard when finished! It looks GREAT with the fabric!

Zinnias really are the showgirls! I didn't sow many this year. Yes, those transfers are too much fun: I will have to temper my enthusiasm or else I'll cover ever stick of furniture in the house....

I’m so happy to see your new video !! Your transferred furniture is beautiful, as is your slope garden . Will you please walk us through your new flower seed sowing in your greenhouse next month ? What to sow , when ? I tried sowing foxglove seeds ( AGAIN!) about two months ago and only two tiny tiny seedlings have germinated after several rows in my seed trays were sown . To no avail .
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow 10 месяцев назад
Foxglove are VERY slow, don't give up. Take an entire packet and sprinkle it in a tray of potting mix. Keep it moist every day and continue to moisten as they grow. I have a tray that took 3 months to grow to an inch tall. By the time spring arrives, they should be ready to go into the garden.

Love the chest, although I’d probably be paranoid about a real bug hiding on it and keep a flyswatter nearby at all time! 😂 A gray snake that’s good at killing mice? Not sure if you’re into fantasy, but there was a sword-and-sorcery series in the ‘70s/‘80s called “Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser” that might be good for name ideas…

I was told that the bees do something to the single poppies and they become a double. I guess during pollination / collecting the pollen. I do believe this as I collect single pinks and some turn out like your double and others stay single. I have tried collecting only from the double ones and they can all turn out single the next season and then I go out and if I'm lucky I find one is a double. If you find out differently please let me know.

The carrots looked like they were in 2 pots terracotta which drain quicker and the other 3 plastic so they maintain more moisture. In Australia where I am the plastic would be better as pots dry out so quickly. But where you are with better rainfall maybe they were becoming to wet. Its always hard to figure out the difference and the sifted soil would also make a difference as carrots like fine soil.
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow
@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow 9 месяцев назад
I did check the moisture each day, (knowing how dry terra cotta pots can be) but the moisture matched in all 5 pots. I'm wondering now if it was the seed, all the seeds were different.

Hi Jeri, am so glad you are okay. I had the same problems in my veg gardens also I think for all the rain. Speaking of rain, we finally installed the 2mbarrels i bought 15 years ago. Love, love them! Makes watering so easy. Have you ever seen IOD Transfers and products? They are 2 sisters on YTube with beautiful products that you would like. I am soooo going to try the dahlias from seed, sick of the hassle. Thanks for the courage to try them next year. I still haven't gotten any replacement ducks or hens as I am afraid the mink is still around. It has been 6 months but still afraid 😢.

Yes, Love the IOD designs as well, I have one called Millot; I have no idea what I will do with it yet, You have every right to be nervous bout the mink. We had 15 darling duckling hatch this year, now their are only 7 of them. We think the predator must be very small and sneaky because he is eluding our guardian dogs.

@@JeriLandersofHopalongHollow 💜 I actually saw it trying to take a carcass last March and it ran right by my goats. I was afraid to let my dogs explore as they seem to be very vicious to the point of leaving a duck head in my goat indoor pen! I would be terrified of your snake as we have garter snakes here. Just don't like the surprise views. 😒
