So you are meditating to find peace in life? Consider that you must understand what peace is **** If you don't understand peace you will not be able to find peace. Hint: defining peace is not in the dictionary. Cheers

@SailingUma

@@ardentenquirer8573 oh 10 minutes is where I start to desperately want to move. Not everyone that meditates is searching for a deeper meaning in life. "Peace in life" is not something we find, it's the journey that we nurture and cultivate every day throughout our entire life. Meditation for me is a tool just like working out is a tool: I workout because it's good for my body, and I meditate because its good for my mind. I meditate to be more tuned in with myself and my adhd, to create a healthy daily habit, to give my mind a break from overworking all the time (trust me, it's exhausting) to practice not to be affected by my own inner chatter, for helping me wind down and sleep. And quite honestly I just love the way headspace approaches mindfulness.

From the solar world we use butyl rubber to seal or roof mounts. From the name it’s rubber, but it’s more like silly putty that never goes hard. It’s incredible how well is sticks to everything you don’t want it to: fingers, cutting utensils,vehicle interiors, the cardboard box it comes in.

Up here in Finland where we have to lift the boat up due to the water going hard, it's a yearly chore to take down and put up the mast. When You have done it a few times, and combine it with some laziness that makes You skip unessential tasks, You can have the mast down in an hour, and up takes a little longer but not much.

On my keel stepped mast, I have a 1 piece wedge that goes all around the mast, then I sealed the cracks with a silicone based, marine caulk. The boot is something called "Tommy Tape" and is a 4" wide, silicone tape that is self-amalgamating (only sticks to itself). This has worked with no drips for the past 3 years. I'm looking forward to the rebuild.

Hi. That mast was very tall. In winter time my dad would take the mast off our 16ft racing boat, it only just fitted up our stairs. We even brought the boat indoors 6mths for repairs. Tweedle-dee only just fitted thru t patio doors. And into our dining room. Those were happy memories. Amazing how much out the water Uma is wen she's empty. Take care and all the best. 😊😊

Not sure how they patch tires in America. But over here they vulcanize rubber onto the repair area. You can barely tell where the "patch" has been done. It's quite common and safe. Obviously we're having issues with these tires since they're old and only 2 ply side walls. But a $20 patch to keep the truck on the road is better than not driving while we wait for our new tires to get delivered.

How different the sailing experience is in the warmer & saltier waters :D Here in Helsinki, we take the mast and rigging off each fall and store the boats on the hard for the winter; only the sturdiest-hulled boats that can withstand ice are left in the water when the Baltic sea freezes over. Then the mast and rigging is put back on the next spring once the boat is in the water again. Leaving the standing rigging on for winter is sometimes done, but it's rare - for one thing, it's easier to cover the boat for snow if you don't have to go around a mast; also, you need to be a lot more careful with the cradle pads, because the mast has quite a lot of leverage and the force pressing the hull against the pads could be quite high in winter storms. So watching something that's routine in here, how it feels like for someone who hasn't done it in ten years, is very interesting!

Don’t forget to consider replacing all the electronic sensors and lights at the top of the mast before you put it back up. Also, you might want to check your in mast wires and anything else inside such as interior halyards, not that I’m sure if you have any of those, but you get my point. Easier to work on the mast while it’s on the ground then upright on the boat.

I got used to walking around deck with no shrouds one winter with the mast down. When I put the mast up again, I caught a cell phone on a belt clip on a shroud and in what seemed to be a slow motion movie, the phone jumped out of the belt clip, bounced twice on deck, and dropped into the water. That dead phone is still down there over 50 feet deep in the Chesapeake Bay. So be ready when your baby gets back to being a proper member of the aluminum forest. Also, this is the time to put in any extra running rigging, radar platform, halyards, cables for radio, tv, etc. good luck.

Depends on how to patch it I suppose. If it's just a glue on patch, then maybe not. But if done correctly its seems to be just a strong as the original tire. It also depends on the damage. These are pin holes causing the trouble, not a large slash or puncture.
