I am a transgender ftm and I was forced to wear a skirt along with going to the wrong bathroom. I have depression and anxiety, I also dropped out. What this video says is true. I got bullied, verbally, physically abused in bathrooms. I even had teachers stand outside my stall, nagging me specifically to hurry up because they didn't want me there anyway. We had to sign in and out of restrooms, we had some classes who gave detention for bathroom use exceeding 10 minutes, and I have irregular periods so bowel movements and changing my pad was a huge pain. I would be crying in the stall because of my medical issues and still get detention for it. Please stop hating on transgender people. Anyone who reads this, we are people too... please have mercy on us. Thank you for anyone whk cared enough to hear me out. I'm just a dropout to society because of dumb policies in public and private school.

Hell that would be nice lol. While I am one of the folk 'fortunate' enough to able to go to the correct restroom for my gender without question.(At least so far as I have needed to) I can't actually piss if there are other people in there. I can be feeling like I'm about to burst but still not be able to go. Don't know if right term but think I've got something like shy bladder. I don't know. I just can't go if too tense and hard for me to relax when there are other people there. Anyways sorry for the TMI, I wasn't sure how else to communicate it. But yeh so I pretty much do like to use single room bathrooms if I can. Having unisex bathrooms with good barriers or walls in between stalls might be ok too. I hope lol At least if unisex maybe I'll feel a little less anxiety. Because I still have some despite usually no one seems to question my gender on seeing me at this point.

@@WolfSpiritAD yes, I feel the same way. Stall restrooms where others are milling in and out, means nothing happens, and I just sit there waiting. @@maxineallen5673 your argument there is about protecting against cis men, not trans women. If a sexual predator wants to get into the women's bathroom, they arent going to wait for a trans law to 'let them in', they will just go in now, the little door sign doesn't stop them. And what about people with same gender attraction? Would you like to be them banned from public bathrooms because they might sexually assault people they find attractive? What about the cis men in the men's room with a trans woman? Do you care about what happens to her? If you care about sexual assault then why would you want her in with all those dangerous men? If you don't care then you have some major hypocritical views. Same with trans men in the women's room, that won't make women feel safe. Actual trans people just want to go to the toilet, cis people abusing that doesn't change the fact that trans people should be able to go to the toilet. Also, trans activists address that question all the time, you arent original or clever with this argument. If you look around just a little bit, you will get so many responses. Judging by your views, I'm guessing you don't actually pay attention to the counter responses and would explain why we supposedly 'don't address' this VERY COMMONLY ASKED question. Take a stand against sexual assault if you care so much, not against trans people

This reminds me of what commonly happened back when I was a kid. When I was a kid growing up I decided to let my hair grow out because at the time my favorite show was Inuyasha. Had nothing to do with gender identity. I just thought that long hair was cool. Now here’s the fun part. I was also short, thin, and preferred to wear form fitting clothing.(I still look like that today and I’m quite proud of that little fact) So quite often I would be mistaken for a young lady. At first it was funny but after a while it got really old. So I get more reactions using the men’s room, and I am biologically male. Today I am Gender Fluid and whenever I doll myself up I have to use the women’s room just to avoid confusion, and nobody bats an eye. Do you think that’s weird? A Biological Male who has to use the Women’s restroom because I look more female than male naturally? I don’t know about you guys but I think that’s both hilarious and a little fucked up.

Personality, I just wish there were single user unisex restrooms. I know it's a lot more efficient to just build lots of stalls and them all be in the same room, but still, I think everyone would be much more comfortable. I'm transmasculine and I am not out to my family, so I'm not super passing and I'm not comfortable going in the male restroom, but the female restroom gives me dysphoria. Also, I don't really present female, I'm not passing enough to be comfortable in the men's restroom but I'm passing enough to seem out of place in the female restroom Every time I go somewhere where their are single user unisex restrooms I am always so relieved, I feel like those should be more common. The world needs to work towards being less gendered, because not everyone is either male or female

I don't understand why the "little girl is in danger from be followed into the bathroom by a man" is such an effective fear tactic but the "little girl is forced to use the mens bathroom alongside grown men" isn't taken seriously just because the second little girl is trans. In British secondary schools an 11 year old girl could potentially be forced to use the same bathroom as a 16 year old boy if that girl was trans. How is that not considered "dangerous" but a woman using the woman's public toilets is a threat! It makes no sense! On the re-vese no one would force a 16 year old boy to use the same school bathrooms as a 11 year old girl but the boy can be banned from the boys toilets if he is trans, which is just ridiculous!

My best guess is that transphobic people don't exactly consider people's genders to matter. To them, it's a little boy in a restroom full of men, which they deem acceptable, and the same the other way around. They don't see genders as a thing and read the situation as a man in the woman's restroom. Just my guess but I hope this helps. Well, I don't see how knowing any of this actually helps, but maybe this clarifies something? I dunno. Have a good day!

There is a unisex restroom in my school and it causes absolutely zero issues. Students, both trans and cis, consider it to be very comfortable as it is located far away from the noisiest corridors and also happens to be the best maintained restroom in our school. I don't believe true transgender people pose any danger by using the restroom they identify with. But I also think that if someone is obviously transgender or cross-dressing for whatever reason and it is apparent from their voice and/or appearance, that it can cause understandable discomfort among those using the same shared restroom. It doesn't have to be an issue of danger or children's welfare, but still anyone who looks like one sex dressed as another is going to cause discomfort among others in that restroom. It is simply human nature and I don't think very hard to understand. Unfortunately in the current political climate often what is reasonable and understandable is considered taboo to discuss if not politically correct or sensitive.

Being a transwoman in Texas pre-hrt really is both scary and sucks. I have to use the men's restroom (to stay safe) but it freaks me out as well. I can't yet dress or appear feminine because of possible harm. Predators are understandably an issue but these hate groups have it all wrong. The most comfortable and safest I've felt in a public bathroom was a family bathroom and an "all gendered" bathroom which seems to be the only one I've ever seen. I hope more can be made and for people to be more accepting. Hiding and being scared and feeling like if I'm found out that I'm trans I'd be assaulted worse is scary. The fears those hate groups have for kids are the same I have for myself. What if a man notices my slightly feminine belt? Or realizes that I'm wearing women's clothes (despite them being somewhat non-binary). Summer especially is scaring me. I'm trying to find feminine clothes that wouldn't be too obvious or that I could lie myself out of to stay safe.

The thing is, the stuff that these people are worried about can happen regardless of bathroom rules. "If we let trans women use the women's bathroom, then any cis man could put on a dress and pretend to be trans! Then they could abuse it in order to attack or stalk women!" Okay... so let's say that we force people to use the bathroom according to their sex assigned at birth. What's stopping a cis man from just walking into the women's bathroom, and, if he's confronted, turning around and saying "I'm a trans man, it's the law for me to use this bathroom. I was assigned female at birth." This scenario makes it EVEN EASIER for these mysterious predatory cis men to enter women's spaces, no?? They don't even need to bother making themselves look feminine, plenty of trans men pass easily...

I think gendering the bathrooms is just dumb. We should promote the unisex bathrooms all around the world. I say this as a non binary person, of course, but I also think that it's just confusing having gender segregated bathrooms (have you ever been in the wrong bathroom by accident? it's embarassing how people watch you there, isnt it?). Anyway, it's still important to support normalization of trans people using their gender alligned bathroom, cause we probably won't have unisex bathrooms in a century or two, so we at least need educate on respect for binary trans people.

Also, why don't fashion designers design clothes that typically associated with one sex, and then design it to fit another sex. Like, maybe I'd like to see "womens" clothes in the "mens" section of a store. Or shoes that actually fit my feet that are designed feminine/masculine/androgynous, and then fit those shoes to every possible sex. Or have someone call and have a brand of shoe personally fitted to the person's feet. I don't know. The "mens" section could use more feminine flavor just as much as the "womens" could use more masculine. Just, don't limit clothes to stereotypes and cisgender people's bodies. I'm a transmasc nonbinary person and I don't pass very well. If they were properly sized, updates, cleaned, and always available that might be acceptable, but the sad truth is most gender neutral bathrooms are three feet by four feet, so when you are on the toilet your knees are touching the sink, the toilet and sink itself are often the cheapest money can buy so often are decades old, they are cleaned far less frequently and have their toilet paper replaced only once a week, and the scariest part is they almost always require a key, so if you really have to pee you have to go all the way to the office, ask for the key, and go all the wall to the toilet, and if the secretary is transphobic many horror stories have reported that theses secretaries often “lose” these keys, forcing the trans person to pee themselves.

At the university I graduated from, a way to solve this problem is that they changed half of the bathrooms on campus to being gender neutral.

I have a fear of public bathrooms. I’m non binary, though biologically female, though look more like a male. So, uhm, it’s always a little awkward and I always try to find a single stall or not go at all. Not only am I scared because of my gender, I have a phobia of the germs, and uhm, very self conscious about people hearing me pee. I’d go all day without going to the bathroom when I was in school, as they didn’t have a single stall Honestly single stall unisex bathrooms are the solution to this. Or just, Have all bathrooms just unisex? Like not even necessarily single stall What’s stopping them from putting urinals IN the stalls, if people would be uncomfortable with that? Why do restrooms even have to be gendered
@4DD3R
@4DD3R Год назад
thankfully my school has non-gendered bathrooms that are singular rooms without stalls, which I normally use, but a few years ago when I just accepted my identity I accidentally walked to the men’s bathroom in an airport and a man stopped me on his way out. I’m glad he did, I’d rather have been stopped at the front of the bathroom than have walked in, but it just felt horrible I knew that I definitely didn’t pass.

And the fact that those ads aren't able to use definitive language when talking about this subject. "They could, they may, etc" Like we know that these bathroom bills have passed in so many areas, youd think they could pull out some stastistics about a safety risk due to these bill's. But they cant. So they HAVE to use loose undifinitive language as a scare tactic. Its fear mongering, clear as the sky.

There is a level of naivety in this video and within the comment section that needs to be addressed. Sexual assaults in bathrooms, especially public ones, do happen. And yes trans individuals have been caught and convicted of such things. From personal experience my sister was sexually assaulted in a bathroom at a nightclub after her drink was spiked, the same thing happened to one of my friends a few years ago too. Neither of them feel safe in bathrooms with someone who has male anatomy, and have said having gender neutral toilets would make this 100x worse for them. Statistically males account for approximately 98% of sexual assaults, and the types of people who account for this are predatory in nature. Behaviourally, it has also been shown that these types of men look for the easiest access to victims, and from what I can see the idea of having gender neutral toilets gives them the perfect opportunity. Are all men predatory? Of course not but you cannot just ignore the fact that 98% of predators ARE men or male bodied. Historically predatory individuals have infiltrated any and all environments where they could access victims ie Catholic Church and other religions, schools, football clubs both at school and college level, gymnastics, swimming, pretty much every sport from grassroots to clubs, hospitals, charities etc etc. The list is endless. It has also been shown that a very high percentage of prison inmates and sex offenders, born male, have started identifying as female. Do I believe they are actually trans? Some, but very likely a very small number. But the change in the identification of this predatory element to co-opt trans identity is just another indicator of just how far these people are willing to go in order to get access to more women and children. That is why I am totally against gender neutral bathrooms and male bodied individuals in women's single sex spaces. The world is not as you wish it to be, and especially not the men who would exploit it.

It really all boils down to the question "Do you believe that women have the right to same sex only spaces? And if not, why not?"

@@davidpacifico1019 I'm not even sure what that means. Do you mean that you believe people who identify as women deserve spaces that are just for them but that people who have vaginas do not?

3:28 This may come as a shock, but hear me out, men can enter women's bathrooms anyways. All you're doing is blocking people belonging in that bathroom from entering because they present in a more masculine way, there's no way to tell their gender other than asking them directly. There's literally nothing stopping someone from entering whatever bathroom they please, but trans people are blocked from using the restroom anyways. I know, it's mind blowing.

im nonbinary but i usually look masculine. im lucky to be homeschooled and have supportive parents, but heres a really creepy experience i had once: i had to use the restroom at and airport and the gender neutral one was locked, so i used the womens bathroom since thats where im used to going. some lady was in there cleaning and she kept giving me weird looks (which isnt uncommon), so i just ignored it. but in the stalls, instead of a normal toilet paper holder, there was a hole in the stall with the toilet paper holders in it. and as i was going to the bathroom, the lady who was cleaning 'just so happened' to go in and change the toilet paper in the stall next to mine. i left.

That's creepy and inappropriate and honestly sounds illegal, what is wrong with people? I've never encountered anyone doing any sexual act in a public restroom. But if that were a reason to object to gender-free public restrooms (or gender-inclusive), it has to first pretend that sexual acts between two people in a bathroom can only happen if they are straight. So, same-sex sex acts in bathrooms aren't a problem people fear, because no one is suggesting single-gender bathrooms are a safety threat due to the possibility of sex happening there. So they are only afraid of heterosexual acts in bathrooms. Hmmm.

I'm an afab genderfluid person and I am currently a HS senior. I default to using the girls restroom even on my masc days. I really wish schools had a third bathroom for us enby folk. Even if I live in a more progressive state the amount of times I still get deadnamed in school and at home just makes it feel so much worse at times.

I am a Non-binary who doesn't feel comfortable in the bathroom as assigned at birth. I'm in highschool, and using the public washroom is a huge pain. Allong with my teachers not feeling comfortable with me in there classrooms after telling them my preferred name (I haven't been able to change it in the system yet), they rarely allow me to use the restrooms, for a reason that is unclear to me and my family. I have very little friends, thanks to the teachers. I'm also one struggling from anxiety, and this issue is not helping one bit.

I wish that gender neutral bathrooms had to be required in a building. That way there could be a place for non-binary people, trans people who don't quite pass yet, or anybody who is unsure of their gender or doesn't feel comfortable in the mens or womens bathrooms.
