About the "bisexuals are more promiscuous": My straight mom had more partners in her life then what I could even count, while me, a bisexual is probably ace too, because I can't imagine to be with anyone that way.

One question, do you perhaps also have the problem that people can’t comprehend that and tell you that you will become more sexually interested in someone, when you meet the right one. I’m the gayest person ever but also have the straightest voice ever. It’s a win lose really. I’m able to constantly dunk on that old stereotype but no one ever thinks I could possibly be gay which sucks when trying to be open about my sexuality.

I’m bisexual and someone in my class is convinced I have a different relationship each day because when I wake up I’m either gay or straight. I just manically laughed for about ten minutes in the middle of a maths lesson and now he’s scared of me.

Thank you so much for debunking the religion one. As someone who is gay and religious, it's always been hard to find my place. I've have to act heterosexual around my church peers and hide my religious beliefs with my lgbtq peers. Its hard when you can't be your truly authentic self. There isn't much representation for queer religious people, so it makes me feel so grateful when I do find it. Thank you so much! 🙂❤

I think it really depends where you live, what access you have to churches that accept and embrace being LGBTQ. There are places where there are churches with out gay ministers, then there are places where all the churches preach that gay is an unnatural perversion and not of God.Where I live there are some churches with banners saying "all are welcome" with all the pride flags displayed on the front, and churches where intolerance and fundamentalism are preached.

I have a very religious grandma who regularly talks about how annoying it is to have all these churches that just pick a few old testament quotes and manipulate them to spread hate. She absolutely hates the idea of conversion therapies as well as any church that tries to force people into their beliefs. The idea that all religious people are hateful is stupid and usually causes more harm to the minorities than it does the church.

My gay guy cousins are not fashionable at all. They wear sweaters and sweatpants. But, they do have the gay lisp. My lesbian aunts are masculine, but one is a little more feminine than the other. I would like to come out to them sometime soon.

Something I really hate about stereotypes is when they’re based in truth. People act like just because the stereotype is rooted in truth, it means that stereotype applies to everyone, and if you try to explain to them the stereotype is harmful, they’ll just say “but it’s true!”

I think it's dangerous when you go entirely in the opposite direction too tbh. Like because something is a stereotypr it must be entirely false. The trick is to recognize the true parts of a stereotype, but not blanket people under it to judge them. Everyone must be judged as an individual.

The “all lgbtq are white” one really got me thinking, like- I’m multiracial but mostly black in general and when I’m around a lot of black kids in my school or in my neighborhood it’s incredibly hard to find lgbt’s or even some that support it respectively without making offensive “jokes” and stereotypes. Growing up around black my whole life made me notice how less open they are to lgbt compared to white people. My mom is bisexual herself (or so she claims) and her she still hates the idea or her son “acting feminine” or liking other boys. She yells at him over the smallest “feminine “ body movements or from him getting too excited to play with his friend. My brother is literally 6 idk why she’s being so harsh on him over literally nothing, at this point I honestly expect him to be pretty queer in the future if not then mom would have just made some dead beat rat who only cares about gangs and “boy stuff” (mom yells at him and my sister when we watch a “girly” show on tv when reality it’s just a female main character so he’s gonna be super confused about life some day). But honestly it just pisses me off, despite being apart of the lgbt she insists that we shouldn’t and it bad (at least to my brother, I already came out to her as androsexual and she’s pretty open about it to me but she really doesn’t like that I’m trans and doesn’t believe in it which is very annoying especially since I have a lot of trans friends that she loves to misgender) anyways I’m rambling now Idk what I was talking about or getting at with this anymore ._.

That's really upsetting, and you have a right to be upset for that. I can't say from experience that I relate because I'm a more white-passing multiracial guy, but as someone who is both trans and bi I understand that must be tough to hear from your own parents, that belong to the same racial and ethnic background as you, to claim they are progressive for their identity, but will knit pick an entire minority group. My dad for instance, he's of Jamaican and East Indian descent who says that he supports the lgbt community, he even accepted me at first when I said I was bi or so much as interested in people of my gender and multiple, but he hasn't accepted me for my own gender identity which y'know... makes me think his support for the community is performative as fuck to me. :/

Gay dude here. My case is way easier bc I have an accepting mom… but my deadbeat dad is homophobic in the full term… HE USED TO THROW SPOILED MILK AT GAY PEEPS AT SCHOOL… his friends even beat gay dudes up with baseball bats when they were adults… But here I am with my lesbian and 2 bisexual sisters. 🧍🏻🧍🏻‍♀️🧍🏻‍♀️🧍🏻‍♀️. I was in a cult ✨Jehovahs witnesses✨ and that stupid religion almost took my life. (I got out and so did all of my family… but my freakin dad). I was just recently gonna come out to him, I made a plain that when he got off from work And not on his phone I’d tell him. Then I went to get some water at 4am bc T H I R S T Y. And I heard my dad talk to my mom “Uhh I can’t with Sam he is just so stupid… I just wish I had any other kid as my son” I then waited for the movie moment for him to just say “but” But he never did… and my mom agreed with him… I got no sleep that night. And I haven’t viewed my dad as the same since. Just those small little moments alter a person beyond recognition… Sorry for the rant 😅.

I think it's that a lot of oppressed communities are strongly influenced by old community values, and those community values are anti-gay (just like most other old community values.) In the black community, for example, there's an active push to disassociate from gay people (from my perspective.)

I've never met a gay guy with a lisp. Even when I hear people imitate a "gay voice" it's usually not with a lisp, but with an over-enunciated S and a change in the inflections not the overall pitch of the voice. Obviously, regardless of what constitutes a "gay voice," the fact remains that nowhere near all gay men have it and not all men who do have it are gay. So the stereotype, like every stereotype I can think of, is indeed false.

6:15 so terrible. I had a teacher in high shool who openly really believed in this. He said terrible things when a young teacher outed himself as gay (for example the young collegue should not be allowed to on any school excursion with male pupils). Also, similar to this one there is the stereotpyte that all catholic priests etc. are gay and thus pedophiles. These generalisations are so harmful. Thanks for the video. It allways makes me sad how deep some of these stereotypes go, how many people believe them. Some could be almost funny, but it brakes my heart when they are really offensive and some people WANT to take them for real and be intolerant, ignorant homophobes. I'm "only" ace and not getting that much hatred (no one but my mum knows anyway), rather denial. Sadly the people who would most need to watch this movie will never want to, and even if they did would not take it seriously. One claim I often hear is like "all LGBTQ+ people are just seeking attention". So sadly untrue. But haters will hate I guess.

I've been told my voice turns much "gayer" when I'm hanging out with female friends, as I tend to subconsciously mimic the speech patterns of those around me. I have a deep voice, but there's no denying I sound fruity as hell sometimes lol. For those of us who feel safer or more comfortable around women, I think it makes sense that we'd pick up traditionally feminine seech patterns.

Thanks for the video, especially interesting how the stereotype are both similar and different in the US and where I live in Britain. I'd honestly never heard the first one before, although there's also a lot less of a strong association between one's religion and one's politics in Britain (and the Catholic church in Britain seems to be a lot more liberal than in the US, my priest helped me to love myself even though I'm gay and find a welcoming place in the church, and helped me through my internalized homophobia to be more loving and accepting, I've even worn pride badges to mass and it has been well received). Anyhow, I hope everyone is having a nice day and here is a smiley face. :)

for me i have a voice that can go high and low and i'll change everyday to through people off, many people see me as androgynous and often ask me my gender i usually respond with either yes or no and when they try to ask my friends or others who know me respond with the same thing. Although i got to a school who is welcoming to all no matter race, gender, or if you have a disorder they still welcome you in, however there is a lot of homophobia among the kids and i often to get hit with a lot of it as i often express myself and show who i am compared to my friends who don't like to show it as much.

for me it sounds like my voice changes, but i don’t know if it actually does because no one has ever commented on it. though, i don’t really talk much anymore and my family probably hears my voice differently (something about how they knew how i sounded as a baby so bias? idk). i don’t do it on purpose, the only person i throw off is myself. one thing about my voice that i’m sure of is that i occasionally mimic people’s voices, not willingly, and in fact i can’t even do it intentionally, but sometimes i just do.

I really appreciate this video, as 1. I’m lesbian and I’m really feminine but sometimes I would feel self conscious because I though I had to dress butch to be liked by other lesbians, and I thought I’d be judged. Now that I think about it I know it doesn’t make sense but this helped. 2. Some of these really informed me too! I was always curious why I heard some gay men’s voices were feminine but I didn’t know that it happened for straight men too (I was just curious about it and wasn’t sure if it was on purpose for some or not for others) Also I hope I didn’t word anything weird or offensive I was just confused and I’m happy I know a bit more about my community :0

When I use my "gaydar" I don't really look for stereotypes, but just any pride pins, or even a subtle "they/them" on a worker tag. I can usually tell based on clear signals, but if not, I just ask a question that is SECRET CODE FOR "are you?" **limp wrist**

I think one thing to remember about the statistics of lgbtq people in different races and ethnicities is, that was likely only data from america. In a country where the majority of people are white will have more white people who are lgbtq. But lgbtq people exist all over the world, so the distribution is most likely pretty even overall.

When it come to voice it's really more when it accompanies the stereotypical mannerism. I'm into masculine dudes, some had had lisps, and others had had higher pitch voice. Never though they were gay. I've met guys with deep manly voice but there speech pattern (not a pitch, not a lisp) made me think they were gay

13:10 it's assigned sex at birth, not assigned gender. nobody assigns you a gender, they assign a sex at birth on your birth certificate & people expect your gender to match. Male, female, intersex, or "X" might be put on your birth papers as "sex", but genders are things like "man, woman, boy, girl, nonbinary, trans-fem/masc etc.". Also I should note that the pie segments on religion are not all proportioned to their relative percentages. Minor error

Hey, I recently found out I am gay, or bi, and the problem is that haven’t rly figured that out, because I have had crushes on girls after building an emotional connection, but with boys it’s completely different, I just like them from the start. I don’t know what this is labeled as, so normally just say I am gay. Is there any label to that?

Maybe Demi-Homoflexible? As far as I understood, Demisexuals need to build up a relationship, before sexual desires arise, and Homoflexible people usually go for their own gender, but occasionally do fall for other genders. But since sexuality is a spectrum anyways, calling yourself bi, poly, multy, pan or any other more-than-one sexuality should be fine, because it's okay to have preferences. Bi etc. just means you are open to more. And hey, you don't have to pick a lable, and it's okay to be questioning, you are still valid and welcome in the community! And if you do want to pick something to help identify yourself, maybe watch his flag video! There he explains a LOT of different orientations, and their flags, and since most more-than-one sexualities are super welcoming and inclusive, I bet you'll find some that speak to you, and that you can feel part of!
