Transgender people in Scotland, UK, tell stories of their treatment by NHS healthcare professionals.
This informative and up-to-date film is based on themes arisen from focus groups and interviews involving 13 participants of varying ages, gender identities and stages of transition from LGBT Youth, Scotland. This film was made by 5 contributors, sharing their personal experiences accessing healthcare and is a collaboration with NHS Scotland and the University of Glasgow, based on a research project.
My Genderation is an ongoing film project focusing on trans lives and trans experiences. All our content is created by trans people, about trans people, for a much wider audience. Currently run by Fox Fisher and Owl Fisher.

America is starting to adopt the informed consent model. Insurance won’t cover it, but HRT costs as much as a Spotify subscription for trans women.

it's so saddening and frustrating to hear these stories. GPs learn compex info about the most obscure medical issues and yet have next to no knowledge about trans or intersex people. hopefully this will change and future GPs will be trained properly from the start.

I made a appointment to see a doctor and I've two wait 2 years for the first one. Then I got a letter in October last year they emailed me saying that they where send me letters before but I never got one when I phoned up saying why it was because they were sending it to another address so somebody was getting my letters like wtf I gave you my address and you only realised that it wasn't my address a year later.

I disagree with the new Healthcare that they are signing!!! My wife has been a diabetic for years and needs a surgery done on her stomach to help her lose weight but since she isn't that big of a woman they will not give it to her unfortunately. Now the new insurance that they offer them to get sex charges and shit that's totally BULLSHIT!!!! I don't know what makes them any different then my wife and her needing the surgery or not only her kids and grown ups that need stuff and these doctors will nor do it due to the insurance coverage they have!!! Girl guy I don't care what they want to make themselves but I know if they want to change their style they too should have to pay out of pocket for those things they aren't any special then anyone else bottom line!!

UK shuld adopt WPATH not WHO guidlines

The WPATH is outdated itself. It completely advises against any form of progesterone, when they largely tested with non-bioidentical progestins to get to their conclusion on the stuff, despite it being ENTIRELY KNOWN that bioidentical progesterone is literally incomparable in terms of negative effects. Furthermore, there's serious reason to believe that progesterone is nigh required for progression from tanner 4 to tanner 5 of breast development. That's just one example. Look up Dr Will Powers - there's videos of his presentations on youtube. He's gone on to make his own method and the WPATH looks a straight decade behind in comparison. I look forward to when I'll use the NHS with little more than despair.
