Dartmouth is a built-up community of Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia, located on the eastern shore of Halifax Harbour. Dartmouth is linked to Halifax by the oldest continuously operating saltwater ferry service in North America with the first crossing having taken place in 1752. It is also connected to Halifax by 2 bridges, the Angus L. Macdonald Bridge and the A. Murray MacKay Bridge.
Bridge Terminal, opened in late 2012, is the main hub on the eastern shore, with most bus service either ending here or passing through going towards Downtown Halifax.
