I'm a GP that's extremely passionate about endo, but in the past my proficiency was not up to snuff for the metropolitan clinic I worked for, so when I tried to take on more difficult cases, I got overwhelmed and failed. Now, after a long hiatus I get a chance to start anew, this time in a rural setting, but I fear I can't afford to turn down to many cases because I really want to help the community and the need for endo therapy is high. Likewise, the clinic I work for is by far the best equipped in that area, so I don't know how easy it will be to refer patients. I fear setting myself up for failure once again. Any advice you could share would be lovely and much appreciated!
I'm applying to endo. The principle I currently associate for, plus numerous other GPs all tell me not to go to endo (dearth of referrals, implant related arguments, etc), but I'm hoping to do my own research and then make an informed decision. The video is very helpful, thank you for sharing.
Don't listen to the naysayers. Especially anyone who says Implants will replace root canals. They likely know little about implants or endo. But if you're doing Endo for the right reasons (you enjoy the work, precision, recognition or lifestyle) then you have nothing to worry about in the near future. There's always need for this procedure as people want to save their teeth. It's more about the location you want to live and the unique demand in that specific region. But you have to do it for the right reason. Good luck!

People often live with cognitive dissonance, they make decisions that takes them away from their goals.
